  1. Cheers guys, much appreciated. I do own both those modules but as stated I don’t normally fly fixed wing very often. Will go and have a play later today. :D Cowboy10uk
  2. Lower your helmet visor???? Can we now do that in sim? If so that’s stunning, but no idea how I’ve missed it. Please tell me we can do this with the Harrier. I have to say while I’m not a fixed wing guy, I am very very excited about this module and I’m determined to learn it fully and correctly. Most modules I fly a handful of times before heading back to rotary. Cowboy10uk
  3. Amazing video Jabbers, must confess it was the first time I’ve ever watched one of your vids, was so impressed with the quality I subscribed straight away. Can’t wait to see your other videos. Cowboy10uk
  4. To be fair, she would be a hell of a lot of fun. Well right upto the point the mounting fails and we shoot off our own rotors. ;)
  5. So then, now the Harrier is at pre order stage, is it time for us to find out which helo has won the vote. By the way the answer you’re looking for is the Puma. :D Cowboy10uk
  6. Woohoo, 1 AV8B added to the hangar. Cannot wait to try this baby out Cowboy10uk
  7. Ahh bugger, one of my Sqn can’t fly in 2.0 so we are still only using 1.5 at the moment. I was looking forward to testing these changes. I wonder if I can convince him to suffer low FPS just for me. ;) Cowboy10uk
  8. Fantastic, something to read tonight on nights. Thankyou Cowboy10uk
  9. Ok guys, advice heard and acted on. New PSU ordered and on way. All the drives were on the same Sata cable so I've ordered a new one of those as well. Better to be safe than sorry. Cowboy10uk
  10. Hi guys, well she's all fixed and up and running again. In the end I replaced each drive and bang she's working. I attempted to access the drives using a external reader and while they are seen at the start, after about 30 mins, they fall over and crash. So figuring it was the drives after all. Done a number of flights in DCS with no issues, and on the plus side, the boss has agreed that as parts have started to fail on the pc, then she thinks it's time I start planning and saving for a full build, so I'm not a grumpy bugger. ( her words ) :D :D Thanks for all the help and advice guys. Cowboy10uk
  11. Mmmm that's interesting, it's a pre overclocked bundle that comes with a 3yr garentee. Will need to speak to Scan and find out how they would deal with this, Thankyou for the heads up.
  12. On first inspection it was looking like the motherboard, however after messing around for the last 5 days, it's starting to look like a full hard drives failure. What are the chances of 3 separate drives going at the same time. Swapped out the OS drive for a new ssd, and I've now gotten windows to finally install afte.r several attempts, had to install 8 first and then upgrade to 10, as 10 wouldn't install as a clean installation. Mem test is all fine and windows reporting correct memory, GPU appears to be outputting fine, latest nvidia drivers also installed no issue. As did DCS on the new ssd. Only issue is my 2 backup hard drives are not being seen in windows whatsoever or showing in disk management. Not too sure what happened there, I did disconnect them when I installed windows so only 1 drive was connected, but after reconnecting them to the Sata, they don't seem to be working. Is it possible to blow 3 separate hard drives at the same time?????? Anyway current situation, is I have a working pc of sorts, will pull the other drives out and test them on an external drive reader I have and see if the machine falls over again when I try to run DCS, as that's what I was doing when it all went wrong. 13. Cheers guys, I'll head for this build now. Luckily this morning I've managed to resserect the old pc, well sort off anyway. Things still are not great with it, but it will give me a few months leeway to get the money together for this. Would keep the boss happier rather than getting out on credit. Thanks for the advice. At least I know I'm on the right track. Been a long time since I last looked at components Cowboy10uk
  14. Hi guys, as you know my pc decided to kill itself, I'm still attempting to get it going again, however if all fails, I'm crrently looking at the specs below for the new build. Do you guys think this is the right specs for 4K simming and Oculus Rift use which will hopefully play everything on high settings for next few years. Or should I be considering other specs. I9 and the new motherboards are still a tad too expensive at mo given the improvements they currently bring. 2x 3TB Seagate ST3000DM008 BarraCuda, 3.5" HDD, SATA III - 6Gb/s, 7200rpm, 64MB Cache, 9.5ms, NCQ, OEM - Standard gaming drives for music / films / downloads / steam etc, SanDisk Ultra II SSD 960 GB SATA III 2.5 inch Internal SSD up to 550 MB/s Read and up to 500 MB/s Write - Flight sim drive, 500GB Samsung 960 Evo, V-NAND, M.2 NVMe PCIe Gen 3.0 x4, 3200MB/s Read, 1800MB/s Write, 330K/330K IOPS - Operating system drive only, Intel Core i7 7700K oc to 4.8 ghz, Asus Maximus IX Hero, 32GB DDR4, Corsair H100i V2 Gigabyte AORUS GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB GDDR5X VR Ready Graphics Card, 3584 Core, 1569MHz GPU, 1683MHz Boost Cowboy10uk
  15. Yep I used OCuk quite a bit, they are only 45 mins from me, I do tend to find them a tad more expensive than Scan mind you. Tend to use them for convienance more than anything. I am looking on both sites. After reading a number of reviews on the I9 I'm starting to drift towards a I7 7700, by all accounts the I9 is extremely overpriced and it only improves Frame rates by a very small margin. Would liked to have waited until next year before building a new machine, to see what stuff comes out this year, but I guess my hand has been forced somewhat. Can't be without a pc for that long. I'm hoping I can save the PSU, case and hard discs to save on some money, and even the gpu until the end of the year when I can upgrade to a 1080ti unless anything better turns up. Cowboy10uk
  16. Hi guys, well yesterday my PC decided to eat itself and crash and burn. So I'm currently grounded for the forceable future. I'm just wondering if anyone here has used the 3XS series of PCs from Scan. If so what are they like, are they worth the money and play well with DCS. Looking for a new machine that will last a good while, and provide good FPS and VR capabilities. Currently considering this one. https://www.scan.co.uk/products/3xs-carbon-ti-overclocked-intel-i9-7900x-skylake-x-32gb-ddr4-11gb-evga-gtx-1080-ti-sc2-500gb-m2-ssd
  17. Don't worry, same thing happened to me. To be fair their info does state 3 packages in the bundle. Think someone's got confused and think it's 1 touch per box. I won't tell if you don't. ;)
  18. Hi guys, thanks for the offers and advice. Request is no longer required. With the Rift sale currently on, I really had no reason not to get the full bundle for £398. ( well at least until the wife finds out ;) ) So I get to test it myself now. :D Happy flying everyone. Cowboy10uk
  19. The Rift has landed, along with the touch controllers. :D Can't get on PC for a few days, but Thursday is a Rift day. Cowboy10uk
  20. Well, after being on the fence for a long time, I couldn't resist this price. Now a proud Rift owner. Can't wait to try CV1 Hope it's as good as everyone says. Cowboy10uk
  21. Hi guys, I have had a DK2 for a few years now and of course I love the 3D environment and immersion it brings to DCS with only the resolution letting it down. Now I've heard from many of you how much of a difference the CV1 is to the DK2 in terms of its resolution, however I am understandably nervous of spending £500 on the promise that it's a better experience without testing it myself. Despite visiting numerous currys / pc worlds / games throughout the country, I'll be damned if I can find one to try out, and I'm sure even if I did find one, I wouldn't be able to test it with DCS which would obviously be the best way. So as a last resort, I'm wondering if I can throw myself at my fellow flight simmers mercy and ask is there ANYONE living near Staffordshire or even Penzance for the next 3 days with a Rift CV1, who would be willing to allow me to see it working for myself. I know this is very cheeky, but I can't think of anyother way I might get to try it in DCS. Sadly I'm away on holiday for Cosford, which I'm guessing would have been my other option. Cowboy10uk
  22. Been messing around with P3D V4 to get another program to work ( Spad.neXt) . No idea what I've done although I was missing about with simconnect quite a bit. But Simshaker now appears to be working with V4. Guessing it won't take much for you to get it working officially. :D Cowboy10uk
  23. Hi F410, cheers for the answer mate, that would explane why I can't get it to work. :) Enjoy Canada and I look forward to an update later in the year. Cowboy10uk
  24. Hi guys, sorry I know this isn't DCS related, however it is Simshaker related. I've just purchased P3D V4, and I see that simshaker is compatable with P3D. Can anyone please inform me, how I install this for P3D? Struggling to find any instructions at the mo. Cowboy10uk
  25. It's ok scratch this, cleaned out the update data in CMD and restarted now getting 8 MB/s which works out about right for 66Mbs connection. Mods you can lock or delete this thread guys. Thanks for your help. Cowboy10uk
