Bought A-10C beta, but NTTR not showing serial number
Cowboy10uk replied to GregP's topic in Payment and Activation
You need to make sure your A10 Beta is registered to the login you are using, it should be under Profile / My orders. It will also show the date you purchased there so you can see if you qualify or not, afterwards go to Eshop, and to NTTR, in the write up you will see a link to product page. There you should see a box that states show serial number if you qualify. Cowboy10uk -
First off make sure you've added the serial number to your account. Log into front page. Go to product page in e store, and there should be a box to click to get serial number. After that log into DCS2, go to modules, terrain and it should be there click install. If not, then force the install below. Go to your DCS 2 install folder xx:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World 2 OpenAlpha click on 'bin' - single click, do not open hold LSHIFT + Right Mouse Click Select open command window here type: dcs_updater install NEVADA_terrain And crack a beer, because this will take a LONG time. 5hrs, 45 for me. However damn it's worth it. Cowboy10uk

First flights in 2.0 and NTTR
Cowboy10uk replied to Zimmerdylan's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Hi guys, well like everyone else download was slow, very slow. All in all took 10hrs from start to finish. :( However for those still downloading, don't give up, because DAMN it's worth it. My first flight, was my beloved Huey, lifted from Nellis, and flew down the strip at 30ft, damn what a stunning job guys, can't wait to see her at night. Oh and that was closely followed, by a skid landing on the strip. ( hint, those trees are collideable, if any finds the end of my rotors, if you could send them back to me please. ;) ) Anyway, so 2nd flight was Nellis, to Vegas, taking the highway out to Boulder City and down towards Hoover Dam. Followed by a low approach down the valley and a close area landing at the bottom of the dam. Damn she's huge while you are sat on the ground next to her. However as mentioned before by OP, the Huey sits approx 4-5 ft off the ground while landed. Then a low level flight back to Nellis. Sadly then RL called and I had to go to work. However I can't wait to get back flying, it truely is a stunning map, and the exciting thing is I know I've only scraped at the surface. Huge Well done Guys. Cowboy10uk -
Using USB Hub for all equipment.
Cowboy10uk replied to Cowboy10uk's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
cheers for the advice guys, in that case..... Hub is Ordered. :) tidy desk here I come Cowboy10uk -
Hi guys, up till now I have plugged all my equipment, rudder pedals, stick, throttle, collective, track IR, Oculus Rift & Camera, jetseat etc directly into the PC. However as I've added more and more kit, I've now got to the stage where I have wires absolutly everywhere, and USB connections coming out both the front and back of the PC, over the desk, under the desk, around the chair and I'm starting to get rather blooming annoyed with tripping over them and basically the mess that they are making. Long gone is a nice tidy sim area and well I'm fed up with it. So I'm thinking about going for a single powered hub, that I can attach and hide it underneath the desk and hide all the wiring using one of those plastic tube type things, and plug ALL my Sim equipment into a single hub. Now I'm sure I remember being told that you should use a hub for joysticks etc due to lag, but is this really true? May I ask if anyone here has done something similar, are you plugging direct to your PC or via a hub. Also would this hub be suitable? http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00CBEVTKI?keywords=USB%20hub&qid=1448888269&ref_=sr_1_92&s=computers&sr=1-92 ORICO 10 Ports Aluminum Portable USB3.0 HUB with 36W 12V/3A Power Adapter and 3.3Ft. USB 3.0 Cable[VIA VL812 Chipset]-A3H10 Basically if you were in my situation with cables and trip hazards everywhere, what would you do? Cowboy10uk

+1 Very well said sir, we don't need any stinking GPS. ;) Truely can't wait to fly this fast and low around Nevada, gonna be some great nav exercises coming up. :) Fantastic vid guys, will certainly be buying the very moment you start taking orders. But damn this wait is hard. ;) Cowboy10uk

Well just tried this and sadly no good, my server and PC runs fine at 60fos but any clients are reporting 5 - 10 fps Max, and the moment any aircraft turns up that drops to 1fps, which makes MP unplayable, when I look at the clients during this time, I can see them rubber banding all over the place. God I hope they fix this tomorrow with 2.0 Cowboy10uk

Finally got round to learning the MI8

First off, I'm sorry, I really am. I've owned this helicopter ever since it first came out, however it's taken me this long, to finally take a break from the Huey and decide to give it a good going over and have a good session learning it. To be honest, I think I was put off by all the switches, wow what can I say, what a Helo. Took her for a lovely long flight across the mountains, to the coast, and then off Oil rig hunting. Practised my radio nav procedures and routed along all the ndbs, and finished off with some sling load training. The feeling of weight and size this helicopter projects is second to none, she may only be a virtual model on the computer, but you really do feel like you're flying something a lot bigger than the Huey, and the attention to detail is something else, it appears you guys have modelled everything. :) I can't believe I'm about to say this, but I honestly can see her taking over from the Huey as my favourite Helicopter Module, and this is from someone who just spent £600 on a Huey collective to get the perfect controls for that helicopter. :) I know I'm late to the party, and I'm not saying anything that you guys don't already now, but I just had to come on and say THANKYOU, A huge WELLDONE to everyone who was involved in this project. This module, when combined with Simshacker and the MI8 Helios profile, really does provide the ultimate experience. :) Next flight is night flying, then starting to learn her teeth. Cowboy10uk

Hi guys, do I get everyone to add this auto exec.cfg or just myself who's hosting. Sadly currently suffering from horrible lag, for those who are trying to connect to me, they are averaging 1 - 5 fps, which is unheard off, prior to the latest patch. We have always had no issues with MP, and everyone has at least a 20mb connection. Desperate to find a solution as DCS MP is currently unusable for us at mo. Cowboy10uk

Fraid so mate, although it seems I was one of the unlucky ones. Some get through the net, some get caught. my post is earlier in here, £19 for VAT, £8 post office handling charge. Cowboy10uk

Hi guys, just been flying about in P3D, and I was really loving the fact it downloads the real world weather for the location and time you are currently flying. I believe it uses weather sensors all over the world, including those in the regions we fly in DCS, just thinking how cool it would be, if DCS could also utilise the data from these weather sensors, and provide us with real time weather for our flights. It would certainly add a whole another dimension to our sim flying. Cowboy10uk

Dammit, missed the thing again. Been trying to get here for years, sadly my beautiful daughter then decided to be born on the very weekend it's on, so sadly the chances of getting there now are pretty much none existent. However thanks for the photos, it does look stunning, the museum is damn good as well. I wonder if I can convince the wife, to allow us to have a Dutch holiday next year. ;) Cowboy10uk

Hi guys, I'm currently wondering whether I should change my current tri screen setup for a 48" Curved TV. I was wondering what experiences anyone who has done this has had. Which option is better? Now I know that the resolution will reduce, as currently I'm running at 5670 x 1080, and do to the fact the TV is 1080P only, it runs at 1920 x 1080. Would I see a huge difference with this resolution on the TV, I know then HD picture is stunning, but of course I would be rather closer to it than it's designed to be used. Resolution isn't an issue, my current GPU runs 5670 x 1080 at 90fps anyway. So which way should you guys go, or his it better to hold off a bit longer until 4K TVs get a little cheaper. The TV I'm considering is below http://www.johnlewis.com/samsung-ue48j6300-curved-led-full-hd-1080p-smart-tv-48-with-freeview-hd-and-built-in-wi-fi/p1943221 Current setup Cowboy10uk

Quick question, have you managed to get the throttle to work at startup? My throttle only seems to be recognised after I've open and closed throttle using page up and down. So can't use it for full start at mo :( Cowboy10uk
