  1. Two weeks. It's always two weeks.
  2. Control+Y twice (unless you like the information bar).
  3. I think it's too early to tell anything at this point.
  4. How many of the people who do not have an interest in aviation play DCS? I don't think that's a good indication of the target market. DCS is aimed at people who love aviation. In that pool of people I think that the Phantom is second only to the Tomcat in terms of popularity. It is a significant aircraft with a huge operational history in multiple countries with a lot more people having been around them who would love to fly it in DCS. Let's not forget the F-4 is the father of the modern multirole fighter and probably the aircraft that shaped modern airborne warfare more than anyone else with the exception of the stealth element. I think all those points are very important to those who are interested in DCS or serious flight simulations in general.
  5. It got some screen time in Sully.
  6. You are probably right.
  7. Really? An entirely different engine with different instrumentation and the inclusion of earlier systems is easier? What about Heatblur Forge? I don't think there is that much of a difference as you suggest it is and even if it is it doesn't really change my opinion. I would still like a modernized Phantom. The whole point of my post was why I would like to have it, nothing more nothing less. I am not forcing anyone to create it or to agree with my opinion. Also I completely understand if they decide not to make it and I am not going to jump off a cliff because of it. Whatever they decide I am fine with it. In fact I am more than thrilled that they make any Phantom. All of that doesn't mean I am not going to give justification for it. That's how the world works. When you want something you have to provide reasons for it. Whether you are a multi-milllion dollar company asking for financial backing or a child asking his parents for a toy. I didn't expect that to be the problem because that was the point of this thread. I am not spamming anyone about it. It was just a single post in a discussion on the issue. I thought I would just mention a point that I didn't think was emphasized in this discussion.
  8. I do actually agree with you on most of the points you made. I understand that it is a lot of work to make and I also agree that a naval version should come before it. That however doesn't change the fact that it would be nice to have and would give us the ability to create modern scenarios that we couldn't before. Plus it just fits well with the Syria map. What I can't say is if it's worth the effort as opposed to them building a new plane. That's something for Heatblur to decide but from what I have seen from them they don't shy away from adding different versions if they think it's worth it. Take the F-14 for example. We got the A,B and we will also be getting an early A and an Iranian version. They didn't have to do that but they choose to. Now they might have regretted by now because it's certainly a lot of effort required. What I am doing is basically promoting the idea to them. Do I think it's easy? No. Do I think it should come before the navy version? No. Do I think it would be nice to have? Yes. Do I think it is worth it over let's say a tornado or an F-111 or whatever else they would like to model next? I don't know. That's up to them. We are getting a bit ahead of ourselves with all this talk when we haven't even seen the current module and when that will be ready. Still it's an interesting discussion to have.
  9. The reason why we would like to have a modernized F-4 is because that's reality. Countries that already had Phantoms in their arsenal decided it was wise and financially preferable to upgrade them than to just throw them away or retire them. The United States had the financial ability to get F-15s and F-14s to replace the old Phantoms but that was not feasible for the other countries. That's why quite a few of them flew them until very recently and still fly them. The ability to fly upgraded Phantoms would just give us more options to create realistic scenarios without the need to create a whole new plane.
  10. Not to mention, the F1 doesn't have that many systems.
  11. Ok fair enough. I haven't been following the F-15 closely enough and I assumed because of the videos that it was going to be closer to release than it actually is.
  12. Well at the very least we have already seen the F1 while the Phantom is still behind closed curtains. The race between the F1 and the F-15E will be a lot closer. Still we have been surprised before.

    Corsair update

I am pretty sure they have mentioned that they would like to model that. However I don't think it's going to happen near the release timeline but much later. I assume it's going to be just you and the carrier. That's as far as the landing is concerned. For the catapult elevators and hangar I have no idea. The catapult will probably work like on the Stennis and Forrestal, meaning you taxi to the catapult and then hit a button to hook on to the catapult and another to launch.
  14. Plans yes but what will come of it remains to be seen. It's been more than a year and we haven't heard anything new. Still I am hopeful.
  15. As far as I know about the Forrestal Supercarrier integration Heatblur was discussing it with ED but so far no news. I haven't found any newer information than this one.
  16. Forgive me if I'm wrong but I was under the assumption that the Phantom would come before the Eurofighter. My reasoning being that Heatblur states in the F-4 FAQ that it will be coming in late 2022 (which I 've got to admit seems a bit optimistic) while there is no statement about the release date of the Eurofighter, rather a mention that the Tomcat and Viggen take precedent before it. Also the Eurofighter is a collaboration with a different team and I would assume that creates it's own challenges and delays. Meanwhile the F-4 should be close in some aspects to the F-14 which should theoretically mean they could speed things up. Now about the A-6 AI it's very difficult to say. AI aircraft development seems a lot more time consuming than I would have thought. Let's not forget the delay of the J-35 Draken or even the C-47, Ju-88 and S3 which still hasn't released. It seems that AI require substantial work to implement while not not bringing much revenue and therefore are not prioritized.
  17. So far it hasn't been done with the Forestal which is closer to the supercarrier than the Essex class carrier that we will get with the Corsair. Also with it being WWII I guess it will require substantial work to implement as I would assume that carrier ops were quite different than the modern stuff. Still one can hope. Just don't expect it any time soon.
  18. I had the the same question but was too bothered to ask it.

    Corsair Hype!

Yeah I feel you that the silence is kind of disheartening but to be fair Magnitude 3 is far from the only developer to be fairly quiet about their progress with their products.

    Corsair Hype!

Nothing in regard to the module itself. Just showing some interest in a movie with Corsairs in it.
  21. So... Confirmed for Christmas I guess?
  22. Wait, that was 2 years ago?
  23. I don't think it's the correct path for ED to take. Making those planes FC3 would require too much work from them like modeling the cockpit and all the systems like hydraulic and electrical and do the flight model and so on. At that point the only thing that's left to make it to make it full fidelity is to make the switches work and while I am not saying that's easy work it's nothing compared to modeling the rest of the systems. In general I don't see any reason to have FC3 WWII planes. What I would personally like to see is the increase of AI aircraft so we can have more variety. I want to see the C-47 and B-24 B-25 and B-29. Also Ju-87 Ju-52 and He-111. Where are the British bombers like the Lancaster and the gliders that took part in D-Day? I see these as more important than being able to fly aircraft that need multiple people and multiple planes flying in formation to be used effectively.
  24. I didn't have an issue with seeing the IFLOLS at about 3/4 of a mile before but since 2.7 it's nearly impossible to until almost at the ramp. Actually I tried it just now and from what I can gather the problem seems to be with the brightness of the lighting in general. HUD DDI and panel lights don't seem bight enough to me. Also I know I'm not on speed or lined up these are for illustration using the keyboard.
