  1. No, it's just magic right now. In a small test mission I placed two units 800 meters apart. TGP looking at #1, MAV looking at #2, then BSGT. This is obviously wrong, but the MAV would still slave perfectly to the TGP.
  2. Weight-on-wheels will trigger the ground safety and (among other things) disable the Maverick video feed. Same thing with Master Arm set to Off. In order to boresight on the ground you'd need to flip both switches. This is not recommended since your TGP & MAV view range is very limited on the ground and you would introduce parallax errors (not a factor, yet) Training mode allows you to boresight the Mavericks, but you can't (accidentally) launch them. Remember: F-16 is still WIP.
  3. For me making contact is somewhat difficult, but once I make contact I can usually refuel in one go. So, here my 'top 5' list of most difficult aircraft to make contact with: A-10A/C - Cockpit is far behind the director lights, making them pretty difficult to see all the way. Can't really observe the marks on the boom either, because of the thick canopy frame. Harrier - probe is offset behind the cockpit. Takes some practice to line up consistently and different AOA can mess up your reference points. F-14 - canopy frame blocks view just before making contact. Need to aim for the drogue early and keep steady F-15/F-16 - gotta get used to using director lights. Observe the tanker and make adjustments before the director lights change (a bit easier with the F-15's canopy as reference) Hornet/M2k/Su-33 - good visibility, just 'ram it in' and stay in formation with the tanker Quick tip on the F-15/F-16: Do NOT look at the boom. You fly the plane into position via the director lights, the boom operator does the rest.
  4. You need to land on a FARP + you need service vehicles within 150m (see picture) If you don't like the 2 FARP objects DCS has to offer, there is a mod for Marston Mats. Those also work as FARPs.
  5. Work - In - Progress ?
  6. Our Ka-50 is complete. It's modeled after a very specific aircraft from a very specific time (#25 , 2000-2003). It didn't support AA missiles, so we're not getting them either. If you want a fantasy airplane you're in the wrong place. It's that simple. And if AA is such a big problem, how about you investigate the Shkval tracking range/logic and make a new topic about it? If this was 'fixed' the Vikhr would be a very reliable AA weapon. Got plenty of PvP kills against jets before 2.5 made the Shkval worse.
  7. The new laws made it even more difficult to acquire and use the required documentation. This is why BS3 was put on hold. So, how are they going to implement AA missiles or RWR if they can't use any official documentation? Just take a wild guess?
  8. Played a very small mission trying to track down some bugs and all my TRK files desynced almost immediately. Sensors not tracking, missiles going crazy, AI behaving completely different ... completely useless if you want to report any bugs.
  9. What about the Mi-8 cockpit lighting. Sling loading in general. Multiple issues with the Ka-50 The lack of proper helicopter AI which turn every single player mission into a game of chance .... Just have a look around how many problems there are with DCS helicopters, how long we've been talking about them and how ED has chosen to not even reply in most cases. What kind of improvements can we expect from the Hind and Apache release? None. It's gonna be the same issues with a shiny new cockpit. Please explain to me how much ED cares.
  10. VIS is ground stabilized open WPN page on either MFD DMS up to make HUD SOI (!) slew targeting box towards targets TMS up to ground stabilize - SOI will change to the WPN page automatically! refine aim and zoom as needed TMS up to lock a target #2 is mandatory right now. Start on the WPN page and the HUD symbology won't update properly. Haven't tested with TGP yet, because then I just use PRE. #4 will create a temporary SPI which all Mavericks will be looking at, aka ground stabilized (right now VIS only ground stabilizes the selected Maverick, not subsequent ones). You can even see it happen in the track file. BORE won't do that. In BORE the targeting cross will stay relative to your VV, allowing you to aim by maneuvering the aircraft. I've tried a few things, but the only fix I found was resetting VIS mode by going TMS aft a few times and starting from scratch. It surely is a WIP feature. At least we have a track file so MAYBE we get an official response on this.
  11. And where are we supposed to draw the line? Automatic AAR, automatic trim, pre-aligned INS, pre-aligned MAVs ... what's next? An 'easy radar' option for people who can't figure out antenna elevation? Someone apparently spent 20 minutes trying to boresight. Only thing that can go wrong is the target being out of Maverick range, so you can't lock and press BSGT. It's all over the internet, because so many people have problems with it. So, now we need an option for it, because expecting people to use google for 5 minutes in 2021 is asking too much. The skill floor is low enough already, especially online.
  12. Rearm, start up, power up MAVs during INS, take off, boresight, resume mission. It's 1-2 minutes right after take-off and there is nothing difficult about it. Is this already too much to ask players to do? Equal systems for everybody, no more shortcuts allowed.
  13. Short: Forget about the Ka-50 and any other helicopter that may come. By now it should be clear that ED really doesn't care about helicopters. We keep talking about Ka-50 updates and 7ton sling loads behaving like packaging foam, bothing has changed and nobody is going to respond. Just try sneaking one swear word into your legitimate complaint post. Someone will warn you and delete your post, but nobody is going to give you answers. Ignorance is how ED deals with these problems. So, why should I be excited for the Mi-24 or Apache? Helicopter AI is crap, ground AI is crap, sling loading is (still) buggy ... 60$ just so I can experience all problems again from a different cockpit? The same problems ED keeps ignoring?
  14. Great feature. More buttons to press, more procedures to learn, every plane should have it (where applicable) It can be done anywhere, anytime and on almost any object. It's really not that difficult to find some random house and boresight both pylons in less than a minute.
  15. My crystal ball is sadly running an update. What Maverick type, what delivery mode and what procedure are you using? Track file?
  16. How about a landing autopilot as well? Some autopilot to help you aim in CCIP or any other unguided mode? Maybe merge simulation and game mode, because not everybody has the time to learn all the systems? If you want quick and easy results, flight sims are the wrong place for that.
  17. Question is: how does your button box actually work? DX buttons (like a joystick) never gave me any trouble. If Windows and DCS detect your button box as joystick / game controller this is the way to go. Keyboard commands mapped to a button is usually handled by software and under certain circumstances key-up events (releasing the button) can get lost.
  18. You're talking about the PRE delivery mode. This thread is about VIS and BORE. Please do a search for "maverick TGP boresight" on google. The updated procedure has been discussed virtually everywhere since it was introduced.
  19. Not sure either mode works as it should, but I got VIS to work 100% reliably: DMS up to make HUD SOI slew targeting box towards targets TMS up to ground stabilize - SOI will change to the WPN page automatically! refine aim and zoom as needed TMS up to lock a target If you start on the WPN page instead of the HUD it just won't work properly. Boresighting the Mavericks made zero difference. BORE only works from the WPN page and there is no way to ground stabilize. Your best bet is slewing down, aim by maneuvering the aircraft and hit TMS up at the exact right moment. You'd need to be VERY precise, so you might want to stick to VIS for any long range shots.
  20. Use DMS aft short to switch SOI between the left and right MFD. The WPN page should be selected, indicated by a white box around it. TMS up short will ground stabilize the seeker first. A second press will lock the target if possible. Locking range is limited to about 8 miles and you'll most likely need to be in narrow FOV.
  21. Did you remember to confirm the data fields on the INS page, like you would during a stored heading alignment? I've actually never tried the normal alignment, because it just takes longer and without weapons like JDAMs there is no practical use yet. Normal = knob to "ALIGN - NORM" Quick = knob to "ALIGN - STOR HDG" See here: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=f+16+ins+alignment+matt+wagner
  22. Caucasus at its core is about 17 years old by now. There was an update 3 years ago, but it was still based on the old terrain and therefor still isn't accurate at all. I asked about this, because it looks ridiculous in some areas, but ED stated they had no plans to update the terrain any time soon. This was in December 2019 and this is what the thread looks today: The first plane to use the new moving map was the A-10C. The map looks realistic, but it never corresponded to the actual terrain. ED obviously knew this even before releasing the module and yet here we are almost 10 years later still talking about it. To fix this ED would either need to update Caucasus to match the map, or re-draw the entire map to match the terrain. That's actually quiet some work and probably "not on our to-do list right now". That's how it goes with many long lasting issues.
  23. BIGNEWY ... since you're having an eye on me now, how about some answers? Shkval tracking range, Shkval axis response, broken missions and terrible AI we all know about. Are we really supposed to provide track files, even though we've known about this for years? What kind of new knowledge are you expecting to find? You're always asking about tracks, but for a while now ALL my tracks are broken, SP included. So, what am I supposed to do? Not post any reports at all, because I can't provide a track? How about a pinned announcement saying there is no point in reporting anything, because that's how it is. Maybe also add a line that BS3 is on hold.
  24. Apache and Hind come first. That's where the hype and money is. Unless it's a very obvious issue (like Vikhr elevation recently) ED doesn't even bother responding to issues, no matter how long we've known about them. Even releasing a list of planned improvements is asking too much. That's how little ED cares about their oldest module and customers. 24 and 64 will probably bring in a lot new players they can let hanging in a few years, so why bother.
  25. How hard is it to realize that there are dozens of different F-16 variants out there? ED is making ONE USAF variant. Not Swedish, Polish, Turkish, North Korean, Dutch, Israeli, whatever. This means no Harpoons, no MWS, ... and no drogue chute. Why does this have to be repeated over and over again?
