DCS Optimized Textures Powershell Script
MagicSlave replied to Kbu's topic in How To Mod for DCS World
Okay, I don't think it's just the textures tanking performance with the Chinook. I compressed the cockpit textures from 3.6 gigs to 600 MB and performance is still sh*t. Sent from my FP4 using Tapatalk -
DCS Optimized Textures Powershell Script
MagicSlave replied to Kbu's topic in How To Mod for DCS World
This mod saved my VR experience in Chinook. Texture settings: terrain low, other medium. Optimized just the Chinook cockpit textures. Buttery smooth performance. However, with the latest DCS update, Chinook cockpit stutters are back, even after running the optimizer again after update. I wonder what happened with the cockpit textures. They are considerably larger in file size now after the update (both un-optimized and optimized) Sent from my FP4 using Tapatalk -
Wow, since when is that implemented? It doesn't work for me in the Apache. Maybe because I'm in VR, or maybe I have to try to run a repair on the module. Sent from my FP4 using Tapatalk

They work in Apache and Hind in the sense that they can be turned on and they are animated. They do not however remove rain droplets from the windshield. Sent from my FP4 using Tapatalk

None of the DCS modules currently have functioning wipers. Many of the modules have wipers that can be operated, but they do not affect the rain droplets on screen. Properly functioning wipers would be nice to have in helicopters. Flying in rainy weather is hard without them. Sent from my FP4 using Tapatalk

Okay, sorry. I did a quick search before posting and didn't find it Sent from my FP4 using Tapatalk

Very cool! Sent from my FP4 using Tapatalk

Thank you for the insight. So, with weight on rear wheels OR LCTs manually retracted the natural stable hover attitude would be a little nose high, while weight off wheels and LCTs in AUTO is level fuselage hover? Sent from my FP4 using Tapatalk

What is the hover attitude of our Chinook in real life (and our simulated Chinook once we get DAFCS, DASH, LCT and other bells and whistles)? Pitch level or some degrees nose up? If level, how do the Chinook pilots execute pinnacle style rear wheels only landing from hover? Sent from my FP4 using Tapatalk

DCS Optimized Textures Powershell Script

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but does this modding produce different results performance-wise compared to just setting textures to medium (or low) in the graphics options? Thanks Sent from my FP4 using Tapatalk -
That is because the mils setting depends only on run in height and IP to TGT distance. The release range changes depending on the run in speed, as is shown on your screenshots. You tell the WRCS your run in altitude and distance from IP to target. WRCS tells you the mils setting so that the pipper reaches the target when you are at the IP. You tell the WRCS when you are above IP by pressing and holding the pickle button and it then waits x amount of time before releasing, when it calculates that you have reached the release range, based on time and speed. Hope that this makes sense. The WRCS is not measuring your actual height, speed or distance, it assumes that you fly the numbers you pre planned (I hope I have this right, correct me if I'm wrong) Sent from my FP4 using Tapatalk
-
If I understand correctly, you need to be on planned ground speed, altitude above target and 0 pitch, since the WRCS doesn't provide any corrections based on your actual speed, altitude or pitch angle Sent from my FP4 using Tapatalk

Seeing what Heatblur managed to do with Jester V2 AI in the F-4E shows that amazing things are possible in DCS in regard of AI crewmember. Just seeing Jester move his head around, alternating scanning outside vs looking at the radar scope, RWR, instruments etc adds so much to the immersion. They even modelled how Jester prioritizes different tasks in different contexts, if he's scanning outside he's not looking at the radar scope at the same time etc. George AI doing this in Apache would be amazing. Does the calculator work correctly for CBU / Rockeye? It's strange that it does not have fusing timer / function height options Sent from my FP4 using Tapatalk

HAD stops locking on targets after a while. BUG or intended?
MagicSlave replied to Snakedoc's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Not sure if this is the answer to your problem, but the color on the HAD page does not relate to whether you have the emitter locked or not, but to the state of the threat emitter. Solid red means the threat is emitting in tracking mode and flashing red means threat is emitting in launch mode. Yellow is emitting in search mode and green has not emitted in at least 2 minutes. See manual p. 288. Sent from my FP4 using Tapatalk -
Something is not functioning properly then. I would double check key bindings, make sure that there are no conflicts, and if that does not solve it, make sure "game mode" is not selected in the settings, disable unofficial mods, try a repair or reinstall the module. Sent from my FP4 using Tapatalk

What pages are on the MFDs when you try to make them "SOI"? The Castle Switch long press is used to take command of different sensors presented on the MFDs and not every MFD page is a sensor that can be taken command of. MFD pages that can be commanded that way are AA and AG Radar and TPOD (and SIT, when it comes) I think. Sent from my FP4 using Tapatalk

Where the HUD FOV limits are in relation to the glass will vary with your head position, as the projection is collimated to infinity and will remain static in relation to distant objects, rather than the combiner glass. I guess to get a definite answer, you would have to ask an SME about the meaning of VV flashing, as there is no explanation in the manual. However: 1) it is pretty important to indicate to the pilot that the VV displayed in the HUD is not accurately representing the true direction of travel anymore:; 2) the other US aircraft also indicate when the true VV is out of FOV, such as "X" superimposed across the VV in F-16C. That is why my bet is that the flashing indicates that the VV is out of HUD FOV. I guess you could check if the flashing continues beyond the optimal landing AOA, for example... This is just my reasoning, I have no sources for this Sent from my FP4 using Tapatalk

No, it flashes when true velocity vector would be out of HUD field of view. Sent from my FP4 using Tapatalk

Would be interesting to see your results. I haven't flown the Strike Eagle for a while. (Got the F-16 during Christmas sale and WW F-16 throttle and ICP...) Sent from my FP4 using Tapatalk

Result could look like that if you are not entirely stable during the release. I think that the computer does not account for changes in dive angle, G etc during the release interval. Sent from my FP4 using Tapatalk

Weapon Select Switch Aft (Auto Guns) position selects A/A Master Mode and puts the radar into guns auto acquisition more, and prevents switching to other master modes or radar modes. Sent from my FP4 using Tapatalk
