Happy OA day!!
-
I don't know if you've tried, but you have to hold down the fire button for a few "beats" before the missile comes off the rails. It's a new and more realistic feature because apparently (I haven't flown a real jet) that's how fighters FOX their weapons. Also just make sure you have launch authorization...which I'm sure you haven't overlooked. Try holding down the fire button for a few seconds, see if that doesn't help.

DCS A-10C producer notes number one!
element1108 replied to kingneptune117's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH *tear* The taxi lights look great BTW! Cannot wait for startup :) -
New Video http://pc.ign.com/dor/objects/26067/arma-ii-operation-arrowhead/videos/arma2_trl_nightops_62510.html?show=hi In the video they mention thermal imaging and other OA features will be backwards compatible with ARMA 2

I like it, I'm sure they'll fix the clipping and make it more of a fade and the draw distance will most likely improve as well come release. It adds to the sense of speed down low. I'm sure it will be removable, if not as an option in game, then a .lua mod will quickly fix that.

This would probably summarize it best http://www.arma2.com/arma-2-oa_en.html - "new content" (campaign, missions etc). - Three new Central Asia style maps..expansive urban, desert and mountain region. - Additional Units and vehicles: 300 + new units weapons and vehicles - Detachable backbacks, material penetration, advanced weapon optics and the ability to fly and deploy tactical UAV's.

Any thing on A-10C FLIGHT MODEL - E3 impressions
element1108 replied to hannibal's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
spin, stall, short runway takeoff...what are some other basic flight maneuvers one needs to complete during the training phases of the a10 specifically. I want to start from the ground up with this. For example, how many flight hours in the A10 would I need to accumulate in order use weapons. Ground school elements will hopefully be made more comfortable with a hard cover manual ;), or an early PDF release ;). -
We need a video of more scnreenshots to cool everybody down ;) jk. Well, only half kidding, can never have enough screenies. :D

I'd like to try to avoid that if possible ;)>>>my A-10C will be my baby...I'm going to fly it like I own it. ;) -
Any thing on A-10C FLIGHT MODEL - E3 impressions
element1108 replied to hannibal's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Black shark has a better flight model than the SU 25T ;). I'm confident given the flight model standards for the series you will see a fantastic flight model....no doubt the best for a fixed wing aircraft ever seen in a flight sim. It would be nice to hear from any A10C pilots though ;). I'm not sure a cessna 172 pilot would give me much of a basis of comparison ;). Once startup is mastered I'm going to take it through the basic maneuvers...see how she handles a spin, stall etc. -
Interview with Matt Wagner and New Screens from DCS: A10
element1108 replied to JelalTrueshot's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Yeah that looks about right. I'm definitly NOT expecting A10 compatibilty with lockon...but if it happens sweet. -

I would assume A10 drops then black shark gets patched. People will be too distracted with learning the a10 to even notice the gap between release and compatibility patch. Who knows maybe they'll drop them all together. DCS was built with this in mind specifically , lockon compatibility was just an after thought bonus :). -
I read somewhere on their forums that a combined install will update everything on the ARMA 2 side...that seems to make the most sense, but we'll have to see I guess.

If I had of known DCS and Thrustamster were going to be tag teaming E3 I would have flown myself out there just to see it first hand. ;) The top of my wish list right now is...hands down the startup "producer note"......................no pressure Mr Wags...I'm just saying ;). -
All I've ever been interested in with the arma series is multiplayer. Hands down the best experience you can have vs the campaign or "story driven" aspects. I am definitly looking forward to the desert maps.
-
Friendly reminder this thread is when not what in regards to next dcs aircraft module. There are a ton of other threads for aircraft wishlists. :)

Operation arrowhead drops a week today! Who's looking to purhase?
-
Damn Viper I just noticed you're an ED Tester now...this probably happened awhile ago, but congrats !!
-
Waiting is the worrrrst part!! I'm sure it will live up to and beyond your expectations....onc you get a good grip on the KA perhaps the A10 will be around the corner.

Posting a track is the best way to get some help around here, it's also very common. Asking to post a track isn't a code for calling you out or telling you to shut up FYI. Uncalled for mate.

The sounds of those turbo fans coming to life will bring me much joy....much joy indeed. Canopy will be up for startup just to make sure I don't miss a beat! ;) I just love the navada terrain for training, I think that's brilliant for the dcs guys tl feature in game. I'm dying to throw her into a spin as well, curious to know how the hog spins. Learning to fly this thing is going to be faneffingtastic. Sorry off topic, just hard for me to see beyond the A10C right now.
-
Even if it is in production we probably won't hear anything about it until well after the A10C. No point saying one thing then having to backtrack if things change. Me? I just can't wait for the hog startup producer notes.....mmmm switchology ;).

Outera is YEARS away from becoming anything commercial so it's hard to really ponder too heavily on that engine. As far as the future of DCS, well apart from A-10C it's really hard for any of us to predict or understand what the future will bring. I wouldn't look too far into the future if I were you either, because that will always disapoint in a medium that changes on an hourly basis. The chances of anyone's favorite plane to be made with DCS high fidelity are slim, but when you have a high fidelity plane that might be 5th on your list, how is that not still the COOLEST THING EVER? That's how I feel anyway. I think ED has shown us they have good intentions when it comes to compatibility. I never thought the KA-50 would ever be flyable in a LOMAC environment and that was realized. That's evidence enough ED knows what the consumer would like to see. Making it happen is another thing. For every module that comes out would mean every aspect of the previous module would have to be patched. They haven't said they won't do it (they've shown us they have done it so far)...but saying something in this medium and doing something else is signing a death warrent. SLAG threads a thousand miles long will pop up every day saying "YOU PROMISED US THIS AND YOU LIED LIED LIED LIED"...etc. Just relax and go with the flow, who knows the world may not exist in 10 years so worrying about what MODULE is compatible with what inside an uncertain future is a little insignificant and pointless. Perhaps too you'll see that everything will be compatible with everything and maybe ONE days we'll have what ever simmer wants. A full virtual battlefield, with infantry, planes, helicopters, armor etc ALL...MANNED BY people like YOU and I...and THEM!:joystick::joystick:

Having a third of fourth DCS module is a long ways away right now. Lots can happen in that time, look how much has changed since KA-50 came out. I never thought I'd be flying a KA-50 inside a lock on environment. As far as high fidelity flight simulations go...I don't think DCS will loose it's glow all to quickly even if they're not compatible. There is without a doubt some commercial viability to a game like lockon that has a number of different planes to choose from. But for a hardcore simulation fan, it's going to take a year or so to master one high fidelity plane. All aspects, flight, weapons, tactics and avionics etc.
