I tried the demo and found it to be exactly like Ace Combat...was hoping for a little more. Not that I expected much...the worst thing about it for me was the NON STOP CHATTER. Everybody PLEASE SHUT UP so I can at least try to enjoy the sound effects my volley's of missiles make. ;)

1:500000 printable DCS/FC2.0 Tactical Chart (WIP)
element1108 replied to igormk's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Thank you a million times igor!! Can't wait for this! -
Of course I didn't fly with them the whole flight, but whenever I fly online I talk to a number of those types of guys. To each their own I guess.

It does have a pointless feeling from a combat perspective, but carrier landings are in itself a big challenge as is air to air refueling. Most peopl in the fsx world though enjoy simply flying. Fly from their local int airport to another airport 5 hour away, sometimes more. IFR flyin etc etc. I flown online with guys who will fly from nellis afb to AFB in Hawaii in real time and in formation. That for them is the equivalent for blowing stuff up. I don't mind some of that, but doing it in a military plane as opposed to a 747 is more enjoyable. I'm not even really interested in deploying weapons with the superbug, but more flight procedures and proccesses in a global setting.

I should really install that game again and give it a try. I got it right on release, too many problems with it for me off the batt so I took it off the drive. Looks like they've made a number of big improvements though with the last few pathes. Particularly with the mp (my biggest pet peve on release)

I'm on my iphone so I can't find the link off hand, but you can find the manual by doing a search. Make sure it's the FSX, but they released it a few weeks before the bug.

Confession and disadvantage....
element1108 replied to PedroTheGoat's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
They have defensive cover in a sense...but a fast mover will be out of firing range before you can get a good firing solution on him...although it is possible, i wouldn't call it advantage. You can't even tell if he's got eyes on you. The SU 25 campaign has a lot of joint strike/chopper missions. -
I see a white square SUBS17...normally I wouldn't let it get to me, but with a teasing comment like "someone's up to something" tickles my curiosity more than I can ignore ;)

S-25T Shkval FPS drop Whats the deal ?
element1108 replied to Skoop's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Military contracts are what give you access to an otherwise impossible simulation experience. Both data and funding. $39 a pop for a nich market alone isn't going to fund future or even current projects so if it means we have to wait a bit longer so be it. I'm sure that's not the case, but if it is than a greater knowledge and understanding of the process should be exercised on your behalf. These guys are pretty forth coming with information, so to assume they're lying or misleading is lame. -
Did you install the patch? 1.12 a or b depending what region you're in. ??

S-25T Shkval FPS drop Whats the deal ?
element1108 replied to Skoop's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
You're not happy with it are you? I had the same problem initially actually...I freed up some HD space (my bootcamp partition is running low..underestimated my sim storage) but that helped a lot. Keeping screen rez of monitor down to 512 also helped a lot (go as low as 256 if it runs smooth)...she runs 70% better now. Also did some FPS tweaks suggested in previous threads. The product was NOT rushed out in anyway so take it easy there with the assumptions, many would argue that it took TOO long. It's also not about jumping on the bandwagon...it's about your attitude in your post that pisses people off. You sound like a spoiled little child...no offense. Bring it up in the tech section in a civil way and you'll most likely get some sort of temporary solution at worst. -
FC is the grandfather of BS...those people need to show some respect ;). Criticizing a company or a product in a time where there are nothing but long overdue "projects" in the works (still far from realization). These guys are turning out the content at a VERY reasonable rate. SOLID products non the less. Excited about the potential news guys.

With some of the scenery additions the screenies are mind blowing! I'm waiting for an upgrade for sow and a10 so I can't really max anything out on fsx let alone screw with the high def addons. That being said, I am really enjoying this product!

You'll most likely get the release date here and not on another site first. It would be stickied most likely, but before that you know you've got to see some producer note video's and a zillion screenshots. That's a good sign we're getting warm.

Mi-28 vs. Ka-50 which is the better attack helicopter?
element1108 replied to S.h.r.i.k.e.'s topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
If you're going fictional, Optimus Prime is the best "auto" he's no car, but he makes TRUCKS SUPER cool ;):smartass: If I had the choice to go into battle, I'd take the Mi-28...air show I'd take the KA-50 :) -
Hard to put dates and accurate timelines on these things. Look at F.C 2.0...it came out without any heads up at all really. We knew it was soon, but all of the sudden. F.C 2.0 RUSSIA RELEASED...two days later ENGLISH. I'd rather not know than have a date and have that date passed up. :)

that's a gross over generalization man. I'm noT posh but I own a mac. Fact of the matter is you can play any pc game on a mac using bootcamp. I play all my sims on mac, so therefore mac is for games if I choose to use it for games. It is a professional standard in my line of work and being "posh" has nothing to do with it. There is no need to develope a game specifically for apple these days when you can run games native speed with bootcamp.

I've been using bootcamp to fly lockon and black shark (FSX, ARMA 2, RISE OF FLIGHT ETC) for the past two years and it's been great, no complaints or problems. (Macbook Pro). The only thing you may need is a USB extension, hotas, mouse and tracker IR take up 3 out of the 2 slots available on the computer, but it's a $15 solution :) As far as the sound goes KAOS, no idea. For me everything was plug and play. Do you have other PC games on there? Does the sound work? What version of windows are you using? EDIT: I would never buy a mac for a "gaming machine" no way. You can build your own more powerful system for way cheaper that's for sure. But a lot of mac users who buy mac enjoy the entire mac experience. The simplicity, design, the innovation, the support etc. I've been using mac exclusively since 2001, both professionally and for entertainment. With bootcamp and the intel chip, Mac's are right up there with PC's as far as 90% of gaming is considered. Perhaps we can't jack the rez or detail level up to extreme on brand new games, but I've had a great simming experience as a side effect of using my professional machine. Note: New Macbook Pro's are using the I7 intel chip... :)

I rarely see them, unless they're launched at my 12 and im dealing with a short/medium range sams's, often I won't stick around to find it. Rather spend my time wasting the missile's energy. It's those pesky ir SAMs/manpads that grind my gears :)
-
My approach, you either like it or you don't. An educated guess (demo) is usually the best approach to this, but it's tough to talk someone into a game or genre they already think they don't like. My personal attention span with fps games like these are short. I don have enough time to play games as is and if I do, I want to be flying and maybe blowing stuff up ;).
-
I would say next to my a2a wwII planes with accusim the vr hornet is a must have for fsx owners who want something to add to their hanger. It's growing on me more and more and I've barely brushed the surface but find it very rewarding to fly.
