Not sure how much more or less accurate the F15 Iris model is compared to LOMAC F15, I don't think it's much better, Iris is no A2A or VRF. Besides you can't kill migs and SU's in FSX ;). DCS F15 and we'll talk flight dynamics ;)

Microsoft Flight sim is alive now simply because of the third party developers. Microsoft stopped doing anything with FSX a long time ago. I can't imagine MS Flight would be a very compelling console game. "Weeeeee look how high I am, look at my limited map, my difficult controls." I wouldn't worry about it being a console game, it will most likely be a PC game and yes...there's a good chance it may not be the sim for us "hardcores"...but that's microsoft's loss ;). Bottom line, there's no information in that teaser that we can draw any sort of conclusion on. I think that's a mistake when you launch a title like that...you should come to the table with a clear idea of what you're planning on doing without going into the details.

That reminds me of my xwing days....if I died in a mission and got the "captured" instead of "rescued" cutscene my pilot would be "MIA" and the rebel soldier would repeat "you must register" over and over until I made a new pilot and had to start the campaign over again. Fixed with a simple backup to 1.44 floppy disk, but annoying none the less ;).

I doubt it, Wags mentioned fine tuning the dx11 portion before the next note, I doubt we'll be waiting until 2011 for the next note. They are more mindful of the pending release date than we are, they don't get paid until release, we simply have to be patient and that's free ;).
-
Not interested in that option...(it's not a bad idea) I personally have no business on the ground in a flight sim unless it's for taxi to and from the active ;).

Loves it

It would have been nice if Flashpoint DR got even a fraction of that type of support. ARMA 2, RISE OF FLIGHT have both received HUGE patch updates that really have changed the game from it's vanilla release.

OH....I don't doubt it Nemises! .... I don't doubt it ONE BIT! ;) *giddy*

If you're looking forward to it on the PC, you'll be happy to see it is indeed coming out on PC.... "The game is currently scheduled for release in 2011 on the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3, and we'll hopefully be able to bring you an updated look in the run-up to its release."

I like to think of it like this. My personal satisfaction comes from reading and understanding the briefing, starting up my bird on the ramp, taxi to takeoff and takeoff. Navigate myself however long it takes to get to the target area, find the targets and begin my attack runs. The explosions I induce over my enemy will usually be at standoff range, so all the fire and debris really won't be witnessed all to clearly anyhow. Once mission objectives are complete I will RTB, land and taxi to parking. That gives ME the ultimate immersion and satisfaction. If Ace combat had bland explosions, it would be a VERY shallow/boring game since it really doesn't require any skill at all to get a kill. ED seem to be making very good progress with their second installment in the series. New map, interactive training, radio chatter to name but a few. PS: Everything you see inside that A-10C model there has working, simulated virtual parts that are living and breathing in the sim, not the case with Ace Combat.

Really study the map as well, things look pretty different from the air perspective and depending how high you go that picture can change drastically. So with the above mentions of slow as you go, terrain masking etc, study the map and find visual points of interest along your rout so you can identify where you are vs the expected enemy. Helicopter pilots don't usually fly into a zone blind, they have decent intel on enemy threats, maybe not expact positions but relative positions. Along with your abris and some good studying your chances of survival will increase. Best of luck gents.

No sir, official forums are FREE MARKET RESEARCH they are worth their virtual weight in DIAMONDS AND GOLD x 10000000 ;). But if they're going to do a console port to PC's then you know the product in the end will suffer (for the PC at least). Consoles being 5 plus years old also limits the player in ways they can't imagine.

I guess they can't really charge full price for a patch. I made the mistake of buying this title for my aged and boring 360. I was hoping it would keep my 360 employed for a little longer before I had to remove it from my entertainment center due to sheer lack of use. (It's a wonderful dust collector) I get it, it was too ambitious, too big and too much for the developers. Templar made the game playable on PC by bring island war and a number of other wonderful features to the PC version. I won't pay any attention to this title until it's released, I made the mistake of joining the hype wagon for a year with Dragon Rising, I surely won't make that mistake with Red River. I hope for CM sake they prove me wrong, I'm not sure how begrudging all gamers are, but when I left the forums it was a full out mutiny...troll's galore and to some extent I didn't blame them. CM will have to be honest up front with the games features or keep quiet until things have set in stone. I think they were their own worst enemy with Dragon Rising.

Great! Thanks for posting! I'm curious to know what hit this thing to wreck this bird as bad as it is. Probably a few things at the same time ;)

another nail in the coffin of the sim industry

Well ChromeWasp, I wish I could say it was nice knowing you for this brief stint, but I'm going to count myself out of this charade because I feel it's gone on long enough. You've been offered loads of help by the very generous members/mods on the forums and you're attitude and lack of chivalry is more than I choose to deal with. I commend those who still have the patience to continue and offer this "avid simmer/pilot/programmer know it all" support. If one person is logical and the other is a fool, you won't make any progress. - stalemate. -
They spent some money doing up a flash and trashy trailer. Gameplay video's are getting so quickly cut these days it's hard to believe we're going to see anything but the "EDIT" in the few years. CUT CUT CUT BREATH CUT CUT CUT It's like watching a strobe light. I don't mind it so much for movies, but give me a few beats with gameplay so I can take it in. Not that I'll really enjoy this title, just generally speaking :)

another nail in the coffin of the sim industry
element1108 replied to ChromeWasp's topic in Chit-Chat
How about in your next post, you do us all favor and post your system specs. Be honest and lets get it out already. You claim bad FPS but you fail to give us any indication as to what is causing the problem, just your vague "word for it." I'm also surprised you're a "pilot" part of being a pilot is ground school and that requires some patience. Flying is all about lists and numbers and communication...all of which I'm not seeing as a strength by your posts. Is english your native language? I'm asking because it's tough for some english as a second language people to communicate appropriately. -
another nail in the coffin of the sim industry
element1108 replied to ChromeWasp's topic in Chit-Chat
Sailplane and helicopter sims are WORLDS apart in terms of physics. The only similarity they share is the foundation of flight. I don't get the author's knocking of "graphical gimmicks" ... although I must say i'm surprised to see someone asking for LESS detail and not more. I'm also surprised to see the arrogance (no offense) of the post style when your lack of understanding of this sim is clearly due to your own shortcomings. I hope you give it a bit more time and actually STUDY what there is to learn. Maybe next time you'll do some of your own research before you're so quick to pass judgement on what is the GREATEST HELICOPTER SIMULATION ON THE COMMERCIAL MARKET.....hands down. -

I would like to know what your basis of comparison is. I disagree fully with almost everything you said, but you are entitled to your opinion of course. -
+1 WIN

Don't forget the series is very young and they've so far they have one Russian attack helicopter and an American fixed wing on the way. With only two modules they've already given us a large range although it may not seem like it because they're both ground attack vehicles. I know as much as the next guy (excluding a few), but I can't imagine they'd neglect the fighter department completely.

Wags has been pretty honest with the community since I've been around here and his opinion matters to me despite what the "invested interests" may be. ED won't be making any money on a TM hotas, they will be making their money on DCS series so he really doesn't have any responsibility to chime in on this thread at all. So far he's one of the few who have used it, so with a grain of salt of course his imput is worth more than yours (to me at least). It really doesn't matter to me who buys this thing or doesn't, what's the point in justifying it either way? Our individual worlds will not be shattered because so and so from the ED forums pre-ordered vs that guy who thinks it's WAY too expensive. People's consumer style varies...some people spend $5000 on a suit when they can get one for $250 (some who buy the expensive suits don't have a salary that can justify it). Regardless, they like how it makes them feel (or they've watched too many episodes of MAD MEN). :joystick:
-
Depends how much it costs to make these things. The math works if the actual cost per unit is the same.
-
Perhaps the joined release of the HOTAS with DCS A-10C is planned? So perhaps the release of either is subject to the other.
