Anybody still playing OFP ??? The game seems to be dead in the water from both the console communities and the PC sides. 37 players online currently...9:26pm EST. Nobody over on the forums really has anything good to say about it. :(

Thanks Agg, I'll try that!

Half the swithes in the iris f16 don't click for me...can't switch maste arm on. Grr

I think if you visit the CM dragon rising forums you'll see a VERY pissed off community, both from the PC and console sides of things. A buggy broken initial release (missing 1/2 the advertised content on the console version)...the patch just released yet I still can't beat mission 5 because the AI helo pilots won't follow me to the extraction point even though ALL enemies in the area are killed). Anyway, now they're charging for two new mp maps and a free roam mission that gives console players the ability to explore a deserted island. Anyway not to knock them, but I don't see CM doing anything PR related to douse the flames a bit. Frankly I'm very surprised the community has backlashed as much as it has, new hate threads popping up every minute and hardly any praising the game. Anyway it's too bad really, I feel it could have been a MUCH better initial release, but who knows where the updates may take it. It's weird that games released now can be as buggy as this one was (and ARMA 2 for that matter). Black Shark released almost perfectly compared to these games. I've not had any problems with black shark (except that campaign save game bug that took me back a mission if i quit in the first 2 mintues).

They're saying new information will come out sometime 2010 so I would assume when that new volley of info comes there will be a DCS HOG section opened up on the forums. How long prior to release did Black Shark screens start popping up? I found out about Black Shark about 6 7 months before release so I'm not sure.

It'll be practice for DCS's APACHE AH 64A ;)...or maybe DCS HIND :)....OR DCS F-16 ;) haha. :pilotfly::joystick:

I know, I get excited for any type of flight sim that's in development. Jet thunder is another project that's neither here nor there. It's a pretty bright future though, DCS series, Lead Pursuit is working on another project, Storm of War etc. Seven G is another ambitious project I'm not too sure about. Flight sims are a LOT of work for a part time project.

that's true you can, big time. Love the SU 25T model!

I've seen the video (two of them) one with just a temp full screen HUD and joystick inicators (showing in real time joystick and throttle inputs) they just recently dropped a second video with a non textureed t38 cockpit with tracker ir supported. The flight model looks outstanding, ground was textureless but had mountains etc. Nice to see they're making progress. You can see the difference how the plane handles at high speeds vs low speeds.

I'd seriously be VERY happy with an AH-64 A apache. It's fun visually finding and ID'ing targets, I enjoy the visual experience personally to the blips on a radar screen. Maybe it's my WWII fanboy ism who knows ;). The A-10 has been a "wet dream" of mine for years so when it does drop...well I can't officially say without being arrested in 27 countries what I'll do ;). I have a laundry list like anybody of planes I'd like, but I'll be happy with whatever DCS gives me. All signs point to fanboy, but I deep down honestly enjoy their product. $39.99 US for the hours of entertainment it affords me...unheard for me. Wow I realized I was way off topic there...I'm definitely excited to see what these boys will whip up though (aces team). I hope more combat or logistical operations (military transport/logistics) will be factored in. -

Review: Black Shark gets 72% by GameStar
element1108 replied to Jigsaw's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I'm not even sure what this reviewer has to compare terrain graphics against. It's not a confined area such as battlefield or even ARMA 2. You have to have a draw distance of 75+ km's on a clear day. Or maybe it's a 72% as in you use 72% of your 10% brain capacity to fly and fight in it ;) Anyway these games aren't made for the masses so it's tough to take their reviews seriously. Maybe in another 15 years we'll get flight sim graphics that match the expectations of reviewers. ;) For me it's important (and this is just me) for a flight sim to run well above 50fps at all times. The illusion of flight is essential to the immersion and if even the best computer is getting choppy graphics then I can't really have much fun playing it. I remember when I first played xwing on a 386 and how choppy it was. That's how I thought all games were, got a new computer *486 with 16mb RAM and SVGA monitor*...the game ran smooth as silk and I felt like a WHOLE new game. Anyway a bit of a tangent there I apologize, I bought black shark a year ago today (russian version then englisn version) and I still don't play any other game/sim more. 15 years of simming...I give it a 92% ;) <-- I think I'm really evading the fact I have to go to work now, I don't want to stop typing cause then I have to leave. *sigh* ;) edit: emenance makes a good point. ARMA 2 was almost unplayable upon release and OFP is proving to require some major fixing as well. With a sim that's got a ZILLION internal working functions that we can't even see (hydrolics, electrical etc) it was released almost flawlessly. That's impressive! work time ;) -
That's very common yeah, I'm lucky enough not to get this for some reason. I think it has to do with the FOV. If they had a third person option that might open up that "tunnel vision" a bit more.

Agreed as well. I know trolls often frequent forums but honestly the amount of trolling and cm bashing on flashpoint forums is sickening. So many premature hate threads from spoiled brats come up and mask whatever meaningful info you can get from being there. I think it's great what cm did as well, especially with the console market which I have all but given up on. I'm enjoying ofpdr on the 360, I get to think from the comforts of my couch. I spend enough time in the office :). And a side note these forums are much more enjoyable to scroll through.

I'm on eastern standard time (Toronto) but I don't get much time to play video games except weekend nights...nice and late ;). So I do take advantage :) You're on the west coast aren't you?

Crazy we should coordinate some online co-op when you get it!

I think we were told Christmas or 2010 before we hear info regarding A-10C. Glowing A has teased he's begun pre-production on one of his movies. I'm fine with no news because it probably means they're busy. Although I'm curious to notice a difference between Black Shark (which was releasing screens a year or two before the game release) and A-10 which is probably a year away and not too many have come out. THAT SAID, after seeing the Operation Flashpoint forum with screens release and critics everywhere popped up it's probably a good thing to keep it quiet :) I'm still oggling those initial screens SIM HQ released.

So I got OFP for 360, my bootcamped HD on my mac is full (never thought I'd have so many games on here). Plus the 360 has been a glorfied dust collector for the past year or so.(No tracker IR support for OFP is another reason I went 360 version). ANYWAY! I think it's a great 360 game, the campaign mode so far on hardcore is a lot of fun, still waiting to try it co-op. Online multiplayer to be honest was pretty weak. Conncetion speeds were super slow and I'm on a super fast connection speed...just doesn't feel right. Mind you I onliy played for a few hours (time split between multiplayer and campaign) so not I don't have a true feeling of it yet. Definitely a decent game, definiately not great as advertised but it was a very ambitious project (especially for consoles). Any of you guys play it yet? How does the PC version hold up?

http://community.codemasters.com/forum/showthread.php?t=383522 Link to all the known reviews as of now. It got an 8.1 from IGN and a higher rating from a few other decent reviewers. These games are what you make of them though. You can have the most fun with or no fun with them, depending what you like. Getting mine tomorrow :D

North American release for flashpoint is tomorrow gentlemen.
-
I was hoping they'd include a 6DOF cockpit roam in the patch. Those cockpits are too nice to be restricted to x and y only.
-
It's very difficult the KA-50 was NOT meant for air to air situations obviously, switch the Schval to A/A mode and pray hehe. It really just takes practice...best bet is to avoid them all together. Most choppers you come up against have a seperate gunner and boy does that make their lives much easier for the pilots.
-
Yeah downloaded and installed...works like a charm! Great update to the series!
-
I don't think flashpoint 2 will have much better vehicle physics...as Crunch mentioned it's not about vehicle/flight physics...it's more about the support they bring ot the infantry. In terms of gameplay flashpoint 2 looks like fun, but missing tracker IR (will be getting it for xbox so I can justify my xbox live fee's and my actual purchase heheh). I'm also with crunch, I'd rather be able to call in a human apache longbow for support than an AI one. AA2 does look pretty cool though.

Might help to be on a specific birds of prey forum? 1C forums, I'd help out but I have no idea ... sorry man.
