Wow, I thought I was the only one who was radically against this type of protection. I don't feel quite so bitty anymore :). March will mark HBO's the pacific, fsx superbug and possily battlefield bad company. SH5 is no longer an option. More out of spite than anything ;). F.C 2 would trump everything though...even the pacific which I have been waiting for since two days after band of brothers ;)

I heart starforce. Putting that in a tee. Free tee's for all! ;)

MW2 was rejected by the pc community for lack of dedicated servers and a few other things they felt shafted on. It's widly priated on xbox with the xbox mods that still haven't been cracked yet it still outsold any other game by lightyears. I understand what you're saying total, it will be an adjustment on the player side of things, but pirating has been around for ever and software has always been made. Same with movies. To burden the purchaser isn't the best way in my opinion, but I dont operate on a corporate level. I can't play silent hunter when I'm on the road unless I have an Internet connection. Or on a plane when I can't stand the in flight movie. I'm curious to know the silent hunter demographic. The younger ones seem to pirate more. They play so many games in a year they're allowance simply can't afford it. There are maybe one or two games a year I'll look into and I will be paying for them. Is silent hunter a game that aged 9-21 will play? I as a consumer don't care that the CEO of ubi doesn't get his 14 million dollar bonus, so therefore jaming the gamer into a forced sale without a get out of jail card (eBay) means I'll keep my money in my wallet. Reward the paying consumer, don't trap them. No thanks, I was curious but that seals the deal for me. (nothing personal obviously, just no point gambling on a genre I'm not familiar with.) Perhaps if I was into it more I'd go for it. :)

You'll never stop a pirate. Someone heading up the anti pirating research is passing those secrets to the underground at a hefty price. Corruption is everywhere and to include measures like this just pisses the gamers off and doesn't solve a thing.

General squad question. Do you guys practice formation flights? Not just to look cool, but practical combat formation spreads etc and how to apply them during a combat drill? I think that type of knowledge would greatly increase the effectivness of a squad in a combat situation. Ground attack/fighter/ etc. I would assume it would take some time to learn and implent effectively but I think it woul be an interesting routine to run. I love when the technical side of aviation gets special attention vs blowing stuff up all the time, but that's just me ;).

You're not going to dodge a Sam in a helo either so set your flares to multiple bursts when you see a launch dump them and smoothly change direction. You're also not going to go from 150 to zero at the drop of a hat. If you enter a hot zone 90 turn while dumping flares, change of altitude will also help. Most important keep movements on the stick gentle and smooth. Panic might set in, but you're more of a danger to yourself than the inbound missile is ;). Best advice is make sure an area is clear before you swoop in at 150 km/h. Patience is key, your helicopter and virtual pilot depends on it :). Best of luck next time mate!

Pretty sure he was referring to non combat flight or minor adjustments in formation. Nothing is straight forward in combat :).

Very nice! I could fly formations all day!

Sounds cool! When I get a bit more dedicated sim time I'd love to apply! :) -
104th Phoenix BlackShark Kadet Program

That's recruitment! 104th is an amazing squad. I fly on their servers when I get a chance! 104th, you guys going to include an attack/strike wing with upcoming fc 2.0? -
Not really a waste, it's just another medium. Who knows, lets say DCS releases the F-18 and you've flown this bird in FSX. You've studied and learned the ramp startups and various autopilot/navigation functions. You're one step ahead. A HUGE part of these birds is actually flying them as much as it is blowing stuff up. I would spend X hours escorting a VIP from NEW YORK CITY to a airforce base in South Carolina/California/Nevada. Most missions fighter pilots fly don't have them drop bombs. Perhaps I want to do a deployment from the US to the middle east and I have to fly there in real time. The sky is the limit ;).

Interesting! Thanks for posting that.

F18F pro model? What's the difference there between that and the "march" release?

FS 9 Evontroy? I'm waiting for this to drop for FSX in March! :)

looks cool!

Lol showoff comment made me laugh. It's cute simmers showing off for ourselves...annoying but cute lol. I would love an Americas army (the first one) type of training. Virtual classes you had to sit through and maybe write an exam on. (not necessary but maybe to begin the campaign). A simplified version of ground/flight school. Earn your virtual wings. Flight training as well, basic/complex/emergency/nav etc. I know that would eat into producing time but I think it would be cool. I think fighter ops wanted something like this. I can't remember it was so long ago I read up on it. Each flight would have full ramp start, takeoff and landings with flight hours logged and accounted for towards gradution. Might be a lot of wasted time though, probably something I want hehe.

Well I thought I was a into flight sims but.....

There's a screen grab floating around here of the A-10 cockpit with a nice interesting looking green double arrow pointing to a location off screen. It's been teased this is most likely a NEW training process. Speculation of course, most of us I think learned through the producer notes that were released pre release. Having followed this sim years before it's actual release I'm sure many combed over the producer notes enough to memorize it virtually by the time the sim released ;). No matter what you're not going to learn the ropes on a sim like this in a single sitting. <--- That's why I love it so much :) Learning to fly is actually better than flying ;) (not really, but really you know) :) -
Time for a book deal my friend! Stop giving them away for free ;)

+1 :book: I've always thought about ejection seats but never bothered to read up on them all that much! Thanks for that info strongarm!

What kind of aircraft do you wan't to see next?
element1108 replied to d0ppler's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
MI-24, AH-64A, MI-24 (spez carriers/gunships), F-16 because I have a huge love affair with that bird since I saw Iron Eagle as a kid. I can't honestly even bring myself to vote because I'm still hanging by a thread over the A-10. I can really handle the suspense of the next aircraft ... if I go to the next my head will pop off. :) -
If you're lower you stand more of a chance to survive. Chopper pilots are taught to land a wrecked bird so hopefully you can auto rotate your way out. Easier said than done of course. If nothing else it's nice to know you have the option. ;).

I didnt forget that, the upgrades don't benefit dcs at all man, so that point is useless. They take all the financial risk developing a consumer version of a military product in a market that not only is virtually non existant, but also extremely volitile with people such as yourself who seem to never be satisfied and complain about what they or 90 people in thei "squad" want. No offense, but it's elitist and agravates me.
-
Dcs wouldn't exist I feel if it weren't for lockon. And for those who haven't played lockon the su25t is an outstanding flight model and to be combat effective takes quite a bit of study and aviation skill. The flight sim community is tiny and it's nice to have a number of quality products to choose from. F.c 2 will give shark and "study sim" heads a chance to have player fight/strike support in an online community. If it weren't for dcs a modern day flight "study sim" wouldn't be realized and you'd be chasing the ever lasting development of fighter ops or jet thunder for a modern high fidelity study sim. It's not about what you want or what I want. It's about what dcs decides and we roll with that. They take all the risk and we in the end get a solid product at a pricepoint under $40.

Ground attack is my preference, the A-10C is a dream for me and the potential for the AH-64A is exciting. Although I'd love a MI-24 HIND as well ;). Multirole fighters would be ideal for a greater gameplay dynamic. I would be happy with anything though, rotor/fixed/attack/fighter/transport whatever. :) -
To even ask what the difference is you should set aside an afternoon and do some reading on WIKI man ;). :smartass:. There is a substantial difference between the SU-25 and the SU-25T/TM etc. I'm hoping we see an MI-24 in the future as well...I can imagine what it would be like fighting the torque on that thing! :) DCS will not make the most popular planes/choppers, but they will model whatever plane to the highest fidelity and as an aviation fan that should almost warrent the $39.99 USD price tag. Considering most FSX models are between $29-$79 for "highly realistic" models. I hardly heard of the KA-50 before I started reading about the SHARK...I'm still not a huge fan of it, but I ADORE flying it! :):joystick: Shoot I want to fly right now! GO!
