  1. Looking forward to training in Navada.
  2. Duke if you bought black shark primarily because of other modules or because it was stated lightly they'd like to release the modules 9 months apart you bought it for the wrong reasons. The team will do what it feels is best and as a result we in the end will get a solid product true sim fans can appreciate. Merging compatability and updaing lockon is big news for the majority of this community. The longer time between modues will most likely yield a better and more refined end product. So in the meantime enjoy falcon and black shark and stop making the game 100% about you. (no offense). I personally am thankful for the update and it helps keep a positive relationship with the devs when people don't jump to conclusions or shit over whatever progress news they may have. Ofp dragon rising was rushed and th game failed because of it.
  3. just wait for that 2 year old to become old enough to wing beside and after a nice game of catch you can roll strike package delta on enemy armor advancing on your ground forces. ;) ;). Just need to wait at least another 12 years I'd say. A few dcs modules will be out by then ;)
  4. My first suggestion would be to join a squad because the problem you have is more of players than the sim itself. 159th are cool and 104th are also a good bunch. Once Fc 2 drops the need for tactfully assigned members will be essential for an immersive experience. That is what I suggest before going any further. The su 25 and t's as far as I know can't send you data linked targets. They can't share with each other as it is now. Verbally calling out targets or marking with smoke rockets will be the best way I assume.
  5. ^^^ That was the one thing that bothered me about xplane was the lack of airport buildings etc. It's definitely not a deal breaker for me, but I was impressed to see my local airports faithfully rendered (buildings) to some degree in FSX. I'd definitely still be flying xplane if I had the PC version. The mac version is great, but I can't fly without tracker IR any longer. :)
  6. I've been connecting through yuplay. My nick online is element1108. I don't have too much time to play at the moment, too much stuff going on at the house so my sim time is hit and miss. Looking forward to a good flight though :)
  7. It's out, download now at yuplay dot com. I think the retail boxed version is due out soon enough, but not sure when.
  8. Had the same problem, I actually just wiped all the default controls and reset them myself. I had to invert the stick/throttle settings to make them typical airplane setup. Worked VERy nice once I did that. Uncontrollable for me before (X52). One thing I like in this game is when you fire your guns standing still the plane will push back. I heard if you were low speed in a P47 and opened up with all 8 guns you'd potentially stall the aircraft. Having more fun with this game the more I play. Although online so far is just a frag fest. Can't seem to find any capture the fields or strike. Just deathmatch type thing...the advantage really stems from where you spawn. There doesn't seem to be much room for tactical type dog fighting.
  9. *Drools* Three months to get comfortable..mmmmmmm I want to be uncomfortable, I want to be disoriented in a cockpit...gosh learning the Shark was a blast for me. Felt like I was in school again, but the kind of school I wanted to be in ;) ;) ;). :smartass::smartass::smartass:
  10. You can buy it online off the dcs website. It's better than steam because it's not steam ;) jk.
  11. ^^^ welcome, you should check out the next DCS module screen shots, A10c :)
  12. Technically you can fly it with a keyboard, but being combat effective is another thing ;).
  13. Raises hand "may I use the restroom sir?". I'm going to leave the engineering and behind the scenes stuff to the engineers. Let me know when you've got some screen shots or technical data pertaining to the hog and I'll be back . ;) ;)
  14. I wish the it's who reviewed this product had of tested it out wih software in their favorite sims. Who cares how it feels when it doesn't work properly. We definitly don't need a $300 horas that breaks my sims vs add to them. I'm sorry for the ones having spent the money and encountering the problems, I'm jut glad I didn't get this (was one thing I wanted this Christmas but in the end felt I didn't need it at this point. No dcs hog yet).
  15. Just can't wait for the UH-1 to drop from Dodo...there's a helo I can see having a lot of fun with. :) Anyway derail sorry, BK 117 if I still had xplane installed on my mac I'd get this in a heartbeat! The price is very nice as well! :)
  16. That's true, but the level of complexity has grown exponentially in today's sim market compared to the early ones. I think it's a noble cause no doubt, but I'm not putting any mental investment into it as more times than not it will become vaporware. I can see how third party model builders or moders can get stuff done. They've got 95% of the ground work laid for them. It's tough enough having to model you're own plane with realistic flight dynamics never mind work on a completely new engine with real world environments and to top that off...a combat environment. <--- Combat is probably the toughest thing to try to simulate because it's such a dynamic medium.
  17. There's just something that I ADORE about the standards DCS sets. For me that's more important than having different air frames. I understand the desire for more airframes, but I'd rather have one model that's as close to the real thing as possible than 6 that are 50-80%. I don't know why that is and I can't make sense of it, but it seems it almost can't be argued the FM is wrong (you get that NON stop on flight sim forums). The Hind in EECH is a nice model that's for sure, but it was harder to fly the MI-24 hind in DID's HIND (1997) on realistic than it is in EECH. The hind is a TORQUE PIG and you have to apply major rudder when you apply cyclic. So yeah a nice model, but fly's like something out of FSX. DCS will no doubt drop the F18 at some point, but if you have the Superbug and you've learned the systems (startup procedure, operanting envelope, landing speeds/stall speeds etc) than you're already ahead of the game and it's time to start dropping bombs. As much as I love to get into a fight, without a true understanding of the aircraft it makes your teeth dull and flat compared to sharp and pointy. The thing about study sims which I love so much is you have to sit and study to a certain degree step by step and eventually graduate to certain parts of the game. I spent the first 3 months in Black Shark learning to fly the thing. Seeing what it can and can't do. Sure I fired off some rounds to see some explosions, but flying the thing needs to be second nature before fighting in it. Anyway no disrespect obviously to those who think different, this is just how I feel on the subject of DCS and third party add ons.
  18. Killing floor just doesn't appeal to me in any way possible. I am a selective FPS fan (very selective actually now) and zombies just don't do it for me. Although the Zombie genre is FANATICAL (not in a bad way). Zombie heads will see or buy just about anything depicting zombies because they love their genre so much. Again not a bad thing, it's actually quite similar to us sim fans. A distinct medium to call their own. I have to say I'd love to have seen Black Shark top the list, but you know what outcry that would leave the FPS communities. We'd get slagged all the way back to mother Russia. Again, killing floor might be under a pile of other similar games come this time next year, where at least Black Shark will be still extremely relevant inside DCS Hog and FC 2.0. Best simulation and so far second place in best game of 2009...that's HUGE for our little sim community no matter how you look at it.
  19. Making a realistic flight simulator ain't like dusting crops boy. I admire the idea of doing all that work in your spare time but i just can't fathom it. 5 years is a long time, I think fo is still a good 5 years away.
  20. Let them bitch and complain. It speaks volumes on anyone who takes this stuff that seriously. Sims are quite obviously the black sheep of the gaming industry. Black shark will also be around and going strong in 5 years where batman will be forgotten. There is no room to grow in those types of games. Here I go getting all defensive lol. Trolls my friends, nothing but and you'll find them everywhere!
  21. This will definitely change up the way we play in the black shark. We can rely on fast movers to take out sam threats that act as a huge thread to us (without a RWR) and we'll be able to vector in 25's and 25T's on exact positions of targets so they can spend less time searching and more time killing :). Meanwhile we'll have the fighter jockey's over our heads making sure we don't get bounced. It will be a symphony instead of a solo! ;)
  22. It may not be "realistic" in a sense, but you could have a recon KA-50 team that could spot and translate locations to Hog Pilots. Coordinated attacks could be done using smoke as well. Choppers call in locations of convoy to A-10's and time the attack out between choppers and A-10's so minimize exposure time. Just thinking out loud. It will be tough to get live communication that's not scripted by ground troops, so that's why I suggested KA's as recon :).
  23. Out of these three I feel the most likely to become anything tangable is SOW simply because Oleg and his team have delivered before. Jet Thunder seems to have halted and fighter ops apart from a flight model pre render hasn't had much to say in 2009. Anybody following these sims? Fighter ops community seems to be shrinking or it's just very small. Only a handful of peope bother to post anything on their boards. Vaporware? All speculation obviously but we were getting plenty of content in the early shark days. Thoughts on these sims?
  24. 1169 dcs 1030 otheR stupid smelly game ;)
