Haha, I wish I spoke Russian, but even still, I see what you did there =D

If you had the money to develop a concept for DCS ..
smallberries replied to Mizzy's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Marrying DCS with a quality fps like Tarkov would be dreamy, but a more important goal would be solving the technical issues with multiplayer in the same bird. We need quantum computing with entanglement, for 0 latency please. And fusion, if you have any spare change. -
How do right handed people work mouse and HOTAS?
smallberries replied to imacken's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yeah, trim and AP, and a lot of cursing for the incredibly small hitboxes on DCS switches. -
I just took it out heavy in the Nevada free flight, full fuel, full weapons for nearly max weight. At least 6 takeoff and landings with lots of abusive maneuvering weaving throught the airport. Seemed fine to me. I couldn't lift off vertically, had to stay in ground effect until translational lift kicked in, but other than that she flew fine. The takeoffs exceeded the 625C threshold but apparently not long enough to accumulate any damage.

sling loading copilot voice
smallberries replied to smallberries's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks! -
Please, for the love of god, give us an option to shutup the voice assists from the co-pilot when sling-loading, without having to turn off all in-helmet sounds. Thanks! :)

What should I expect from Harrier? Considering getting this next
smallberries replied to fergrim's topic in AV-8B N/A
One thing you can expect is encountering some pretty nasty wing dipping with an assymetrical load ;) Just a headsup. -
You shouldn't be reducing the throttle, but managing the collective to keep the EGT below roughly 600 degrees. You can exceed that limit for takeoff and landing without problems. I have played some of the Argo campaign which involves flying a fairly heavy Huey and haven't had any major issues, even climbing over mountains, although it gets a bit butt-clenching sometimes.

Had to add this: http://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/facebook-use-data-mining-angus-reid-survey-1.4592371 So 1 in 10 might suspend or delete their account. Of daily users, 5% might slow down.... So, yeah, FB isn't looking too bad atm.

Real Simulator making a high-end F16C grip
smallberries replied to Ranma13's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have to agree with Buckeye on this one, I'm afraid. 5 way switches are usually accidental control inputs waiting to happen, or intentional inputs waiting to not happen, or to happen awkwardly. Does the real F-16 grip have those? -
This is just bandwagoneering. Facebook has become a target of opportunity. I've never seen the allure, personally, and never had a FB account, and the truth is only 1 in 7 people in the world do but, nevertheless, its importance probably can't be understated as a means of shaping culture. But as to whether or not this spells the end of FB, I highly doubt it. Most people don't give a shit about their privacy. They don't value it, and the notion that a small handful of people are manipulating larger numbers of people than ever before in human history, possibly more effectively, doesn't register either. So the only question is how loudly this gets drummed up, and if it results in a critical mass that causes a sufficient exodus that the herd mentality kicks in. Most people won't leave FB because of its sins, but most would leave if it became apparent that "everyone" was going somewhere else. But whether or not FB goes down, something similiar will be there, because most people just don't care and will gladly offer themselves up.

What's in the crate? Looks like some frantic kangaroos.

Just thought I'd throw this out, I lost my internet for about 24 hours ending this evening thanks to a strong windstorm, I guess somewhere nearby a hub lost its power. Anyways, no internet, what's a fellow to do? A sign of the times, DCS is the only game I have which has an offline mode (except for Escape From Tarkov which requires you to get online before you can go offline :P), so I thought I'd do some flying. Unfortunately, when I fired it up and cancelled the logon, a pop-up occured which said the authentication for all my campaigns, or at least 12 of them which is probably all of them, had just expired. I confirmed that they were unavailable in game. My last log-on was probably only 1 day previous. So, just thought I'd pass along that the DRM for the campaigns isn't giving any kind of grace period in case you decide to, or must, play offline. As far as I could tell all my modules maintained their accessibility. I recall Wags, I think, but someone confirming that the DRM would probably persist for a couple weeks or so, so that logging on everytime wouldn't be a requirement for precisely this reason, so I figured I'd mention there appears to be an oversight when it comes to the campaigns' DRM.

does Huey UN campaign actually work in 2.5?
smallberries replied to jozeff's topic in UN Pilot Included Campaign
I have been playing it and I have been having success, I think I'm around the 11th or 12th mission. It is tricky with the formation flying as the lead AI is a bit absurd, abrupt elevation and direction changes, but I don't think any of that is specific to 2.5, and the EGT limits can also make it challenging, but I haven't failed a mission yet because of it. But I had started it before and jumped back in around the 7-8th mission, so can't speak for the early ones. -
I just checked and everything seems fine for me. Good luck finding the problem! I had to do a brake pedal recalibration the other day, the slightest touch on the pedal had me at 50% brakes for some weird reason, was driving me batty until I figured it out. Hopefully that's all it is for you.
-
Wow, that's some serious ATC enforcement.
-
I have this problem as well, and also brackets that tutorials use to highlight switches are always misaligned.
-
Huh, just seemed like it might be different from before, but maybe my flying is just maturing. I could have sworn immediate rudder inputs were required to adjust for any changes in the collective, more like the Hip. As for the turns, maybe I'm just paying more attention to the slip ball instead of flying by feel, but I still think it's odd for a helo to need reverse rudder in a steep banked turn, unless it is somehow seriously front-end heavy. *shrug*
-
Is it just me? I'm running the UH-1 UN campaign at the moment, and for the mission Teachers, there's a long stretch at the beginning of constant speed formation flight. As I have been running it, I have noticed that substantial collective changes, like 25% or more, aren't requiring any rudder inputs, it's like there's no torque effect. Is that the way it's supposed to be when cruising at speed, and I just never noticed? It also strikes me as odd that when I do any turns, I am having to always input reverse rudder, right rudder for a left turn, to keep the slip ball centered. Again, maybe I just never noticed before?

Wait, you're complaining about not seeing the dust? You can have half of mine...

Holy Necro Batman, DieHard is no misnomer. xD

Can't hit anything with CCIP or CCRP in Missions.
smallberries replied to Wicked.-'s topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Are you using laser guided or not? An error I used to make was not letting the INS align for long enough prior to takeoff, with a lot of consequent misses of non-laser guided, particularly in CCRP. You have to keep an eye on the CDU and let it count up to T=4.0 before pressing the NAV OSB, and then EGI in your startup procedure. If you rush that step the INS will not align properly - one symptom of which is that your EAC warning light won't go out. And re-read your post, and this wouldn't be the cause if you are doing air-start missions I presume. -
Slider seems broken for all wheelbrake axes
smallberries replied to smallberries's topic in Controller & Assignment Bugs
Huh, well nevermind, the follow-up is that I did a firmware upgrade and everything is fine now. Strange that it looked good in the calibration tools x2 but anyways that was the problem. -
I was having difficulty taxiing and taking off in my Dora, well that's no bug :) But I noticed when I checked my axes bindings that the wheelbrakes leap from no brake to halfway applied with no progression in between. Checked my calibration both in Windows and MFG controller setup and everything is fine (and I reset Windows calibration not to interfere). The progression is normal in the calibration tools from nothing onward, no big leap to 50%. It appears to be across all modules, and only on wheelbrakes as far as I can tell.
