  1. The copy protection is pretty much transparant. I have never had an experience that's stopped me playing the game, in fact I have never seen anything that was the copy protection. The game will kill you, it's the only "game" I keep going back to, and that's since pretty much launch day. I am currently re-learning the game as it's been a while since I have played it, but it's a nice warm feeling that after a few minutes of playing it all comes back. Be prepaired to be both disapointed (in your skill) and how much work you need to put in to get over the initial learning curve, but trust me, once your good enough to keep the thing in the air and pretty much get it into a hover and can remember how to do the most important things it becomes a most enjoyable experience. Track iR is a good purchase, and something that will enhance your FSX experience as well. That's something else that takes a while to get right, it takes some tweaking over time to get it right, but once it is the experience is game changing. You feel like your wearing blinkers when you try and play a game where you can look around with your head, and one of the biggest things is the amount of buttons it free's up on your HOTAS.
  2. There are words for people like you...;)
  3. In this day and age having anything piggy-backed isn't really needed because of the abundance of USB ports on most PCs. The only real issue comes with the older (software)tech the games are running on where they don't like multiple controllers. TM solves this by having two seperate controllers, but drivers/software that can combine them, and others, into one controller. I re-iterate my point from before, this does reek of being well thought out and just makes me want to support them. I love being suprised by companies when I think "oh I wished they would have done that, although it's unlikely" and then you find out they have done what you wanted but TM have gone one better and not just catered for me, but for the other bloke who didn't want it as well.
  4. Precisly, I still enjoy BS (when I get chance) and I still feel like I am battling the trimmer. Still it looks to be top quality, so my x52 pro will be getting some abuse until it "breaks" and I "have to buy a new one...oh look at this darling, what do you think of this one? Yes it's more expensive but look what happened to my old one (snap), the plastic just breaks, this is metle".
  5. That's what had me questioning why I thought it had FF. With FF at that price I think everyone, including myself, would have snapped it up, without...well it better be good :pilotfly: As for the detents, if the stick doesn't register anything below 0, what's the point? In other words, if Bwaze isn't correct and basically the controller doesn't know that your doing anything beyond commanding 0% thrust it's not really worth doing for a controller is it? Now if you CAN make it do something, like reverse thrust, or fuel cut off or even eject (just so you can let someone have a go and watch there face when they do it :D) then I can see the point.
  6. Oh well, never mind. I think I will still be getting one though...:smilewink:
  7. Well that sounds good, a quick question, something I didn't read there but for some reason had it in my head it was...is this stick FF?
  8. Sounds impressive for what I have read so far. I am so happy they have added items that don't really exist on the A10 system but that can be removed to make it a "replica". Shows this thing has been thought about and they are not only making a good replica but keeping as many people as happy as possible that sim fly other aircraft, and that is all good! Maybe you guys can clear this up though: "The throttles cannot be moved through the detents unless the throttles are lifted (unless excessive force is applied), making them a true mechanical stop." Does that excessive force mean "you could break it, it's not supposed to go beyond the detent without a lift" or that it's designed to hop over it if you slam the throttles full open? Also this: "There is no electrical response of the throttle axes below the idle detent, and the detents are silent." Does that mean that beyond idle (which I assume isn't 0 throttle?) they throttle doesn't register an input? I may have more questions the more I read, but this thing is sounding awesome-cheese!
  9. Just published chaps: http://www.simhq.com/_commentary/all_101b.html
  10. I agree, but I also think they should put them in. For a relativly niche market I don't think they should be making there product anymore niche. A lot of throttle sticks have variable resistance etc, so why not have a hardware switch (I mean you push a plastic button that pushes something else into place opposed to anything electronic) under or on the side of the throttle that put the burner indent in?
  11. Had a listen last night on a decent set of speakers, sounded a lot better as you said. I still stand bye most of comments though :D
  12. Yeah, it just re-read what I said, and I was going to change it. What I meant was "your one man...blah blah blah" I think we all look at something with our own slant and do things "our way", that's why some people get paid sick money to do things because there way is cool. Anyway my offer stands, if you want a second opinion on anything just ask. Good luck, if you think it's better than Edge it should be good :).
  13. Yes I am, but so are you as well :P Ooh excellent stuff, it's the one thing that's always impressed and disapointed me in one go with DCS and Lock on is the lighting effects. They are somehow good and bad at the same time. I think the day night cycle can look amazing, but then let down by the sun in parts, a bit of glow goes a long way :D. I agree, and do mention that it isn't really needed, I just found it a bit jaring, even for a test because I had to watch it a second time (although I would have anyway ) to figure out what just happened. I will be watching it tonight at home... That my friend....sounds like a challenge :music_whistling:
  14. Glowing, To be honest although I think it’s ok overall, it has some stand out good bits and some elements that reduce the whole, but themselves aren’t bad. I feel it's a little too dark for an entire video, although I loved the colouring. Thinking purely from a test scenario to get that video "right" for me I would look at the following: 1) Even though it's only a test I was disorientated initially because I had no reference point to see where I (the camera) was, so maybe start a few seconds earlier. Maybe start with a pan down so we can see the horizon etc. Maybe this is compounded by the fact it's a bit too dark. Anyway the reason I bring this up is that it sort of throws the viewer off balance a bit, and as it's only a short clip I wasn't able to appreciate the subtleties of it because of this. It’s not really a complaint for a test clip I know. 2) Reduce the camera bobble overall 3) Add some extra bobble/shake at jet flypast 4) Add a very wet reverb jet noise track and mix it in an out with the jets positioning in the scene. Maybe look at high passing the wet track. 5) The volume of the jet track is too loud when it's far away from the camera for my liking, fading to the wet track and reducing the volume should fix this 6) Reverb up and pass (both high a low) the missile audio, maybe delay them off each other a bit. The overall delay wasn't a problem, but for me the audio seemed too perfect for that kind of distance. 7) I have some crap speakers at work so I can't judge this very well here, but I wanted some LFE rumble, maybe there is but I am adding it in case there isn't. I want to feel the power in the scene. Of course with the music playing most of the audio suggestions are a bit pointless as you won't hear them. Overall it's a good test and I applaud you for doing it, more so for sharing it, I wouldn't dare because there are people like me around :D. Anyway it could make an excellent shot in a scene with a bit of a setup, maybe the camera looking down the valley and the hill side with birds tweeting etc, and then the A10 roars past the camera and you start your sort of loose tracking shot you have in this video. Just my opinion. I hope you don't feel like I am being overly negative or anything, sorry if I come across like that. On a side and related note I do mess with audio a bit and would be happy to help you out if you ever wanted a second opinion or a helping hand, although from the evidence of your other videos you’re not overly needy of it.
  15. I am reading a lot of threads and trying to piece together the information but it's getting difficult to find a definitive answer so I thought it might be best to just ask. This question comes in several parts: 1) Since the release of FC2, do both BS and FC2 (and any future DCS modules would be nice) function the same in a graphics way? For instance if I get a multimonitor setup working for BS is it just a matter of doing the same again to get FC2 working? 2) Can you setup 3 monitors as one, but wrap them around? In other words, so they function as one view (so looking left and right moves the view in all 3 displays) but also enables you to take into account where that monitor is in real space and alter the view accordingly in virtual space? (see this for forza 3 - skip to about 3 minutes - notice the display isn't just one wide display, but wraps slightly around the person playing the game in real life, and the display in game wraps around the viewpoint). 3) Can you do multimonitor support in full screen? (in other words not running in a window and getting an FPS hit) 4) What sort of FPS hit do you get running multiple monitors? Ideally 3 x 1920x1080. 5) Is there a maximum number of monitors DCS/FC2 can support? Or is it more a hardware limitation? 6) As far as I can tell you can network another PC upto the one running BS and use it to run a 3rd party app for dials and such forth, but is there anyway of getting a networked display running graphics output from the game? In other words, if you ran another computer could you get it to display a set of views of the game your in, like chase view, or tower view etc (more precisly ABRIS or an MFD in the A10 etc)? I am just thinking out loud here so if no one knows don't worry, but if someone does it would be helpful. Many thanks.
  16. I found that if you put down a farp near an airbase and don't change the frequency of the farp they cancel each other out and niether of them respond to radio requests.
  17. Just a friendly warning, be careful what information you give out on these forums, it only requires a thief with a degree of inteligence and your missing all your sim gear.
  18. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/8544272.stm Not a bad little watch, nice to hear things are getting a little better (apparantly) for the guys on the ground.
  19. Could you not reset the trim before take off (obviously making sure the stick is centred) and then fly from there? Leaving the stick still will act as a trim anyway won't it? The only thing that I see as a problem is the fact you won't be able to trim the rudder will you? Looks damn cool though!
  20. What you have to remember is that screens work on a PPI (pixels per inch). The resolution combined with the size of the screen gives you this value. As you have increased monitor size, but also increased monitor resolution you are not going to see much difference. If you lower your resolution they should become more visable. I have a 27" monitor running at 1920x1200 (a relative low PPI) and I can see all the dials no problems. So either run a lower resolution, or zoom in a bit. If you get some head tracking software you can zoom in and out as you need to with the greatest of ease.
  21. I don't know about the plasmas but on the LCDs it's called JustScan. On mine it's the menu option where you set the ratio, however it will ONLY be available/work when it's recieving a 1080p signal. My TV is quite old and will only do it on HDMI, VGA is already 1:1.
  22. Thank you.
  23. Sorry if this has been mentioned somewhere and I have missed it, but what screens are you using?
  24. If I am looking at the right thing that cockpit doesn't look 3D in the same sense that the DCS BS pit is 3D. Your basically a camera in the middle of the cockpit and can look around and zoom in (just like all aircraft in LO) but can't move in the X or Y axis. I am basing this off a video I just found on google, so let me know if I am wrong.
  25. If you have 1.01a install the 1.01b hotfix, although I don't think you have to. If you have 1.0 install 1.01b full update. The hotfix is to bring into line the alpha patch, nothing more. I don't think anything actually changes anything of any great deal. Make sure you remove any mods before installing the update. EDIT: Woo my 500th post...
