  1. This looks interesting, might have to download this and give it a go. Drop me a PM if you need any sound help, I do that kind of thing as a hobby (and a bit in my job) so I might be able to spruce things up a bit for you.
  2. Precisly, I didn't have any direct light into the room I use with TIR but I noticed (using that camera view) I was getting a wicked bloom/glow off the door to the room. Fixed that and not had an issue since. That said though the issue didn't cause drift, but actually stopped the TIR interprating my movements at all.
  3. Thanks for the info chaps, brydling I will add you on MSN.
  4. Are you running the Pro addon or the standard reflectors? Is there any light polution?
  5. Is this for DCS or LO or LOFC or LOFC2? For LOFC I remember having to have a profile (which isn't available becuase my pedals aren't plugged in...why Saitek, why?), but for DCS (and LOFC2 maybe the same as this) I just set it up as an axis control in DCS and it works fine.
  6. Yes I am familiar with programming. I did several years at college and uni with C (Turbo C to be precise) and Java. I now do the odd bit of AS3 (Action Script) but I am fairly ok (with a bit of a brush up) with object programming. Electronics I am not much use with. I can re-wire a plug and have done car audio plenty of times, but anything much beyond that I am lost. I did (many moons ago) print a basic circuit board and wire it up, but it was a one off thing and I wouldn't know where to start now. I would prefer hacking something apart, or purchasing a proper IO card. I wouldn't mind learning the whole electronics thing though as it could be a nice life skill to have. I am willing to spend money, especially as this is fast becoming my main hobby and I will have something I can use and re-use for different things. Plus it looks cool and uber geeky, which fits right in with me :D. Lights are actually something I was wanting to connect up as well. I was wanting to maybe have all the switches have a surround that lit up, but when you "switched it on" or selected a state it changed colour. So at a quick glance you could tell if your fuel pumps were on by the colour of the light, and if one switch was red in a bank of green switches you knew you had missed something. As I said I don't plan on making this match any specific aircraft, just something where I group things together that make sense to me, and make me feel cool as I press loads of buttons :D. Thanks for the help guys.
  7. EDIT: Re-reading this it sounds like a being a bit of a c**k, I am not trying to be. So read it with a smile on your face because I am not meaning to sound like a gimp. y2kiah, You mentioned a micro controller there. See this is what I am on about. You sort of mention it in passing but thats precisly what I have been missing. So these micro controllers, are they something that everything runs through or are they one per switch. And this USB IO board. Can you give me some examples? I really want to do something like this, but with my lack of knowledge on this subject it's a killer for me. And the biggest problem is that the people doing this talk about it as if everyone should know what they are talking about. What I was thinking of doing was something more along what brydling is referincing. I would rather talk directly to the sim, but I don't really know where to start. Although in y2's defence a pre-system start check (starting cold and dark) would be easy enough and preferable to keep "it real". However with missions starting you in a hot pit it would be a pain to check all states are matched with the game. My experience is more tailored to GUI/Touch screen design, but that would have to run on a seperate PC to keep CPU use down on the original machine. However I just love the tactile feedback of a button and would LOVE something like that. What I am thinking of is something that can be a generic set of panels that would happily work just as well for BS and A10 etc.
  8. Hello all, I have been reading bits and bobs in here and dreaming about what I would like but I keep comming across a few things that I don't understand. Terms are bandied about and I am not sure if they are relevent to what I looking for or not. Ok so here goes: If I built a panel with a row of push switches, for example like keyboard buttons, that you push and release and they send a signal. I can see this, I could butcher a keyboard and wire in the buttons to certain key presses, or I could butcher say a game controller and do the same. That's fine, I can get my head around it and visualise it. However my questions arise when you start getting onto toggle switches, or rotary's. Surely wiring these up to something like the above would be constantly sending a signal instead of a one off? Most PCs don't like continues button presses (buffers and all that), so how do people do those?
  9. Gadroc seems to have written some software for A10c that displays the MFDs on a seperate screen (a bit like that virtual panel for BS). I am not sure if he re-creates the information from lua or there is something planned for A10 that isn't in BS.
  10. Not sure precisly what it is, but I think you press the right mouse button (either just once to switch it on, or continuesly) and move the mouse. Not sure, but I am sure I disabled it somehow so it didn't intefere with Track Ir. I remember doing something to do with disabling something to do with the mouse all those moons ago when I got BS...I am sure I did...I am doubting myself now...hmmm
  11. That makes sense for you certainly :)
  12. I don't really see the point if you already have it. New markets or for people who already use Steam and don't own it I can understand. But then again I suppose I am relativly "old school" and think that hunting down the patches and then finding the right patch for the install you have is all part of the fun. But I have to admit ED make it pretty damn easy (all patches tend to work with all installs) and the copy protection I haven't seen a thing of since I installed it. In fact if I didn't know it was there I wouldn't have a clue it was.
  13. What Waldo II says, you don't need the specs, whatever they are. TIR worked with accelerated/exaggerated movement. I have mine set quite sensitive so a few degrees of movement = a lot of in game movement, I also have a large monitor and site quite close to it. This all helps keeping your eyes on the screen. A smaller screen with very high acceleration will probably make it easier to see the centre of the screen though. After a bit you get so used to moving just a dash that it becomes second nature. I also use the "precision mode" key quite a bit, or even pause in quite a few instances, especially for using the Schval.
  14. Worst case scenario to get it working set your profile to "exclusive" which will switch it on for everything. Also make sure you start TIR before BS just in case.
  15. Ok had chance to investigate this a bit further. I simplified the mission right down to monitor what happens. I spawn 4 SU25Ts and 4 SU34s all armed for stand off ground attack (missles) over the targets and the mission tells them to engage all BUILDINGS within a massive radius. They engage everything from coms towers, arms bunkers, gas storage, FARP misc etc. They attack everything apart from the actual FARPs and the ground vehicals that I have placed on the map. They also target buildings in towns and villages. They also waist more powerful weapons on these targets instead of concentrating on the actual military targets. They basically attack everything (apart from the FARPS) I setup placed on the map as a STATIC OBJECT. If I tell the AI to engage STATIC OBJECTS and not buildings they do fap all and fly off (I assume it's to an airbase, they seem to be pointing in the right direction for the closest one). So what exactly is the STATIC OBJECT target option? For me the BUILDING option should be anything building orientated that is already on the map, so for instance buildings in towns or villages or ones located around air bases that are not directly related to the air base (airfields target category should cover that). STATIC OBJECTS should be just that, items that aren't not vehicals (air or ground) that are placed on the map in the mission editor. If this IS the way it's supposed to be then the mission editor is borked :D
  16. Nice one! I can see this being quite useful to the beginer and anyone who has had a break from the sim.
  17. Hello, I have a mission where I have setup specific targets for SU34s and SU25ts (small targetting circles over specific target buildings, like ammo storage etc) however at the end of there runs I set a very big targeting circle over the entire area. This is basically a mop up run, so if any of the aircraft have any weapons left and if any of the targets aren't destroyed they will hopefully engage them. However at the moment two things are happening: 1) The aircraft are engaging civilain buildings 2) The aircraft are targeting the civilian buildings over enemy structures I think I might be a bit confused over targeting orders, for instance, what is the difference between "buildings" and "static objects", because I place static objects for the enemy buildings in the mission, but seemingly the AI won't bomb the targets unless I tell them to destroy "buildings". Maybe it was just coincidence so I may have this setting wrong. Any ideas?
  18. You are in fact bang on the money (and it was the Tu-22 the ai was using not 33 as I said, I am dumb ass), I was attracted by the nuclear part of the description. :D The encyclopedia needs some work to explain a bit more about it's contents and how to use them. Anyway, thanks for the reply.
  19. Hello, I have a (Tu33 I think) carrying 3 KH22n's and I can't get the AI to launch them. I have told it to attack buildings, point, been close to the target, far away from the target, whatever I try the AI just turns for the airbase he's to land at and ignores the launching. Any ideas?
  20. Wow lots of post since I was last here. $400 is right on the limit for me, maybe a bit beyond it, especially as I can't see how I can fit that into my setup. However the software I will be interested in, but one thing I am interested in, why do you require a touch screen?
  21. Flim, What comes in the pack? I am just thinking should I be going out and getting the MFDs now or do they come in it etc? Also any idea on price? What sort of form will the finished kit be? For instance, is it just a mask for the monitor with parts to attatch the MFDs too or is it a full on front end of the A10 pit? The reason I ask all this is that I need to know if it's something that will be suitable and affordable by me, or do I need to look at alternatives. If it isn't suitable, will the software be available seperatly?
  22. Switching the game options to imperial (tick box) sorts that out for you. However parts of the game are in metric still so it can get confusing unless your quick at conversions in your head.
  23. In LOMAC none flaming cliffs, it was scripted, in FC it wasn't. You had to actually capture the boom, which is never fun when: a) You running on fumes b) Your crap at flying and end running out of fuel before you actually connect. So I can't see them not moddeling it (unless they can't do it properly, and in that case they may decide not to do it all), I mean why take away functionality from there front line sim?
  24. Thanks for posting the solution. It may be usefull for members searching the forum in the future.
  25. God I hate you...a garage space like and all that wood...that is man heaven!
