I know the campaign has Russian spoken words (not counting AI/ATC) and english subtitles, but is there any news if this will be translated into English/other regions in a patch/future update? I find it difficult at times to be flying and reading and pausing it is a bit of a imersion killer. If there is no official plan can I have the script and I will practice my russian accent :D

Is it just me or does anyone else have serious problems with the AI Wingmen and FPS rates? Whenever a wingman is in the air with me I can feel the game stuttering, if I follow one into land (even if it's already down and shutdown) I am in a slide show! Whenever a wingman isn't there I get (virtually) never drop below 25FPS, the wingman comes along and at times I can be below 10FPS. Is it just me, is it a known issue, is there a fix, or will it be patched?

Sheffield UK aye?...a local boy. If your out of combat operations and are just wanting to descend try descent mode, it automatically reduces your altitude by 2m/s while ever it is active (until your reach 4m, it's then supposed to stop but in reality you fall out of the sky if you keep it on) until you pancake.

I think he is reffering to switching AA on. In which case there is no need to use nHancer as the NVidia control panel allows you to set AA/AF etc.

Did you disconect the camera from it's target? If so how did you do it?
-
I don't know. What I usually do is make a landing after not telling anyone, switch to ground channel, re-arm/re-fuel and take off again with the ground channel still active. I thought I was missing something as switching it back to the normal radio channel seemed like I was cheeting as the ground crew would still be complaining, I just couldn't hear them.
-
Yeah just switching chanels seemed like I was missing something. Of course I wouldn't hear them if I wasn't on the correct chanel :D Yeah I think I should start asking for take off permision :)
-
When I land mid mission, re-fuel/re-arm by selecting the ground crew on the radio and going through the # options everything appears fine, they say it's all done and dusted. The problem is when I take off again with the ground channel still selected they shout at me. I assume I am missing a step, any ideas?

That my friend is mainly elitist nonsense. As long as the speakers have a good range then the biggest difference will come from the processing, ie sound cards. As for the "Dolby Certified" it does depend on a) what Dolby were asked to certify and b) how much Dolby was given to do it.

Dragon, I took a look at this this morning, but I can't get the CDDS studio to work (it works, it just just doesn't complete, no errors just does nothing). Links you might find of use: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=18234 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=19735 May Skypat knows of a more up to date CDDS creation tool? Everything else seems straight forward. Good luck

Slovak Air Force Digital Camo Skin - Complete and Modman Compatible
DTWD replied to VikVaughan's topic in DCS Modding
Love it! -
Dragon, I would agree, on modern graphics cards with this game a texture set of the size you have done probably won't make a difference. I was thinking I had a difference then the other 3 cores woke up and it was fine. Anyway due to me being a kind citizen I have played around with ModMan for you. Check your emails. Ok check your emails in 5 minutes, it didn't like that!

Draggon, I am not sure what Francous is getting at, but it could be that EDs textures are 4.56MB and yours are 78MB. As you can see yours are a lot bigger than there's. I am going to see if there are any major FPS differences now.

Would anyone be interested in these tooltips?
DTWD replied to miguez's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I agree, I was just thinking of the extra numbered version as a temporary training aid for people learning the helecopter. Once you know the procedure you switch to the normal modified one. -

DTWD replied to miguez's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I think an extension of this designed for people learning the correct startup/shutdown procedure would be cool. So you installed a special tool tip that said something like this: Battery 1 (SU: 1 SD: 27) Battery 2 (SU: 2 SD: 26) Those numbers are plucked from the etha as I have yet to learn the correct, and or any, startup procedure. SU = Start up SD = Shut down The number indicate the order in which you SHOULD do them. It would help for people reeding a list and counting the numbers in there head, if they are out of sync they know they have done something wrong. Well just an idea anyway. Still I think I would be interested in this as is. As I am flying I might require the need to do something, I can find the switch in cockpit but if I want to bind it to my joystick I need to exit the mission, go to the options, trawl through the controls to find the key combination, alt tab to my saitek software and enter it in, then re-launch the mission. It would be easier to miss out a whole load of that with these tool tips. -
It's not just for an FPS increase you should get a better sound card, it's for the sound! Why most people think they can live with on board sound is beyond me. It's like going to a games player and saying you can live with onboard graphics.

Did a search but still have a TIR problem
DTWD replied to FixerOhio's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I had some issues with the mouse head movement inteffering with the Track IR head movement. There is a key stroke to disable this, but because I wanted it for moving the outside camera I went into the AXIS controls and adding a modifier to all the mouse axis. This meant by default the mouse would work just for clicking on the cockpits but when I wanted it too to move the camera in external views. It could be that your suffering from. -
Ah you have got to love the extra MOSS! LOL Good work Draggon!

I have a 5.1 system and after some complaints from the missus, and for multiplayer, I switched to stereo headphones. For a bit I thought the sound was broke because I was missing all the voice sounds (warnings etc). Took me a bit of time to remember to switch it back to stereo in windows, so it's defo more than stereo. I can't comment on the surround channels though, but I am pretty sure I have heard stuff comming from them.

LOL I was thinking the opposite, I don't prefer this one. It looks like the textures are screwed up. My preference would be weathered but still uniform. Still I can appreciate the quality of the work.
-
Any ideas on patch release date, or an official announcment of content? I personally would like the encyclapedia (wow that's a spelling and a half!) to be more like the LO one as this one seems to be missing things and doesn't seem to have it displayed in a way as easy to use as LO did. Other minor bugs are the phasing sound, the strange light line out of the windows that are especially noticable in night missions. I get a few other odd behaviors that are problems but because the game is so complex I don't know if it's a bug or an "in game problem". Still to be honest, it's an amazing game/sim!

Why do I bother :pilotfly:

micro freezes and stutter gone, after switch to Vista 32
DTWD replied to mjolner's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I don't want to be rude, but why did you get Vista 32bit? Surely Vista 64 would have been a wiser decision? -
No it's a flight per player I think. Each flight can have multiple AI wingmen and as long as your on the same team (red/blue) no matter which flight your in you will be able to use the datalink.

They look good. Ok so some people are complaining it's too "clean", well yes but he designed them so it's his choice. Remember FREE COMMUNITY mods are just that, someone in the comunity has decided to do something about something they don't like and have released it FOC to everyone in the comunity, can everyone please remember that when they post comments. If you don't like it don't use it. I personaly would prefer some weathering, that's my personal opinion and it doesn't detract on what DragonRR has done. Overall I think it's vast improvement over the stock textures and although they do look "clean" I prefer the quality over others freely available. But that is just what I prefer, then again if it was vectored and in orange I would be all over it :D
