  2. Well this is insightfull because I do tend to turn and fire and I am not really taking my time with the unguided weapons that maybe I should be. So the long run in will be my starting point. And ZaltysZ, your saying I need to treat the targets for the unguided weapons as I do targets for the guided weapons? Does this mean I get to see the convergance zone of the weapons? Because the moment I seem to be firing either side of the target. Are you also saying that for straffing runs I want to be fireing between 200-300 metres from the target?
  3. Yeah but it takes more work to do the full mod man/cdds installer. I for one can't get the ED CDDS creation tool to work to be able to take the next steps to get the modman instalation working. So simply converting to DDS is a doddle. Your right though, a proper instalation package would be the best bet, but if Diveplane doesn't want to do them we can't argue, he was good enough to do the creative part. Diveplane as your sort of part of ED will any of these mods/tweaks be appearing in the patch?

Cool slug, I was going to try turning my hand to a Russian accent...you just but "ski" on the end of everything right? :D I will study the script and work through the mission editor and get a full list of what needs translating and then figure out how many people/varients we need. So if anyone else wants to help shout up. I can do the audio editing with no problems, but the more people providing voices (with good acting :) ) the better it will be.
  7. Personally I would re-grade the CPU to a Core 2 Quad Q6600. A simple overclock will give you 3GHz out of it, and then you can have four cores instead of two! Run the affinity trick (on Vista) and you will be getting 30+ fps pretty much across the board. There is the occasional stutter, and occasionaly the AI seems to have some sort of power leek that drops your FPS into the teens and below, but most of the time you won't drop below 25 at the lowest. Oh and for gods sake get Vista 64, not 32! Oh and I run everything on max apart from water I think (I may even do that) at 4xAA, 4xAF and 1920x1200 on pretty much that setup but with an overclocked 8800 GT, but as we know it's CPU NOT GPU that makes the big difference in this engine...at the moment.
  8. DraggonRR found a method that you can convert (using modman) any textures to dds format (makes them far smaller than BMP) and then just rename them back to .bmp. The game runs and seemingly has no problems with this kind of texture. In fact it is invariably a smaller texture (thus graphics overhead) than when it's in the CDDS (go figure!?!). If I can be bothered I might go through and do this for all the ED textures that are in the temp textures directory.
  9. I was just wondering if anyone had any tips/tricks or general advice in employing unguided rockets, gun pods etc? I am fine with the Vikhr, the cannon, but anything on the side pods seems to invariably miss it's target, so any help would be very much appreciated.

  11. I have to admit I haven't installed and played these yet (just going off the screen shots) but if anything there appears to be less tiling than before.

  16. Is there any sort of official line on this? I thought the AI was supposed to be basic so it can't be taking up that many cpu cycles can it?

I may not be understanding the question, but if you want to fly to another waypoint that isn't the one you are flying to you do the following: In route following mode press the waypt button on the keypad below the abris and then press the number of the waypoint you want to fly to. Job done. Out of route following mode do the above, and then press the route following button or fly the path yourself. It seems like that's too simple for the question your asking though so I appologise if I am telling you something you already know.
  18. Setting a speed of 1 and two loop points a metre or so apart is as good as a hover to be honest. In fact you want to use loop points anyway as the AI will then re-act precisly as you want.
  19. Brilliant! I love that one, the white lines were always a bone of contention for me, these look like they should be there and haven't been cut and pasted. Now for the love of god release a final and walk away! I have to check back everyday to keep up to date! :D
  20. I have similar issues, but I don't think the problem is what it's rendering. If I play a mission online with real people I get little to no slow down (at least noticible anyway). I put some AI wingmen in and it turns into a slideshow.
  21. Well no I don't think it is because I don't get any slowdown (noticable anyway) when playing multiplayer, it is purely the AI wingmen.
  22. I feel the same, I don't quite trust it all booted up, I feel I might go for something and it not be switched on and I get in a flap.

  24. Cool, will ModMan be able to create CDDS files in the near future? Great software by the way, I don't think I could have managed to get my head around the mods for LO without it, and now the mods are comming out for BS I am sure it will be the same.
