  1. Loaded it up just to check it out real quick, First time I've flown at night in a while, they fixed the HUD FLIR it looks so awesome now. Thanks for the mission looking forward to really getting into it with a wingman.
  2. OK so I finally got the chance to play the mission with a friend, we had a blast. The explosion and collapse of the bridge is awesome flying over from a wingmans perspective. But we had a couple issues. 1. Uzi took off and orbited after we killed the Shilkas, but never responded to radio calls. 2. After landing and reloading, I could not get my mavericks to come online. Really fun mission though, thank you!
  3. Maybe a dumb question but are you taking off into the wind?
  4. I find that trimming down to 2, then going back up one click at a time til it turns to 1 on the display, so one click up from 2, makes me perfectly level on VSTOL with nozzles at 81. I don't even need my hand on my stick, just goes straight up very nicely.
  5. Yes, it is exactly like balancing a broom on your hand. It's a 20,000 lbs jet, it does not want to hover. If you stop focusing and making corrections for a second you will lose your balance. Landing on the Tarawa is slightly easier because you are given a 30 kt headwind due to the ship steaming forward. You are a little more stable but not much. You can't stop correcting when in hover, and it may require severe control movements to stay true.
  6. The rockets aren't accurate like 30mm is. After a few thousand feet they will go wildly off course. I believe the range bar shows when you are within the range where they fly straight-ish.
  7. Curious about how others control nozzles with a single throttle unit. I wanted to use the pinky wheel on TM 16000m FCS throttle to control nozzles, but I need that to zoom in and out more frequently so I use one of the thumb switches for the nozzles instead. It feels awkward using the switch to viff because it happens so fast, but the nozzles rotate so slowly with a switch as opposed to the wheel.
  8. Maybe a dumb question but are you lined up on the correct runway at 2500 feet AGL when about 5 miles out? Sometimes I'll be on the opposite runway and get no signal. Are you hearing the audible Morse code ident when you tune in?

  11. Sounds like you have the TDC bound to an axis like the ministick as in the A10C. It's not working in the Harrier yet, you need to use a hat switch. Not ideal but it works fine.
  12. Going out on a limb here, but what you are describing, at around 100 feet destabilizing, sounds like you are just entering the ground effect height. Your nozzles get more effective as you get lower because the LIDS activates, trapping a cushion of air underneath you like a hovercraft almost. You just have to anticipate it and throttle down as you get lower.
  13. I have a lot of time in the Huey and other choppers, hover flight in the Harrier came pretty naturally to me. Would you want to meet in a server sometime tomorrow and I can try to guide you through VSTOL stuff? I have discord.
  14. The Sidearm missiles are fun and you can kill radar AAA with it, but it's really a last ditch option. They are hard to lock up, and enemy will often turn off their radar until after you pass over head
  15. 70%-75% throttle is all you need most times. The Pegasus engine is a thirsty beast and will drain 2000lbs (max Vertical Take Off weight is around 21,000lbs) of fuel in about 10 minutes of CAS work.
  16. I am on Mission 13 in Piercing Fury. I have enjoyed every single mission, this one is insane tho. The voice acting is phenomenal especially your boss. Detailed maps and briefing, different weather conditions, lots of surprises. I have all of the dlc campaigns, haven't started TEW or Stone shield. Red flag, the missions are very long, some folks say repetitive. I am only on mission 3 there, it's cool so far. The Basic, Advanced, and Tactical Qualification campaigns are amazing, I learned so much more from those than I would have otherwise. All the missions have a separate practice mission to go with them. Top notch, get all three if you are still learning the Hog.
  17. I've flown the mission a few dozen times now, I'm really enjoying it still! It's a really helpful way to practice all the systems. I finally have the TPOD figured out. Thank you again!
  18. I've only missed the tank a couple times, usually have no problem locking with mav after using DMT to find the tank. Are you slewing the mav onto the tank from the DMT or TPOD and then force locking? What range? I'm at 5-7 miles when I get a lock.
  19. Thanks, as long as it's working as intended that's cool, I just got one with a sidearm at the last second, and the other with a mav, located by spotting the tracers. That was awesome. I even finally managed a landing at the FARP. Crashed after I took out one of the choppers though, can't stop watching the missile view. Really great mission, thanks again! Hours of fun so far.
  20. Ok so maybe I'm doing something wrong but I am having problems with the sidearm in this mission. After I take out the tank on the bridge, I am supposed to destroy AA so the drone can fly. I am trying to lock up the AAA with the sidearm, but they are turning off their radar until I'm right on top of them or just past. Ok I know that's what AAA tries to do IRL so as not to be detected, I am just wondering if that's what is actually happening in the sim, just knowing it's EA and not everything is working right yet. Am I supposed to have a wingman flying over the AAA so they turn on their radar and I can lock them up? Should I orbit and use the Litening pod to find them like in the A10?
  21. Hey I am really enjoying the mission, so excited to see it in there! I love having to return to the FARP for gas and ordnance, really makes it feel like more of a process than just go out, drop bombs, come home. Thank you for all your hard work!
  22. Hi I just got the Harrier a couple weeks ago, coming from A10C. I am just curious about the lack of waypoint entry - I downloaded a couple missions for the harrier where you can spawn targets in with the F10 menu. Then you get L/L and UTM for the target. So am I just supposed to open the map and look to see where they are for now? Is there no way yet to make use of the given target location information? Thanks!
  23. Nice I have it, haven't started yet though. Looking forward to it.
  24. Basic, advanced, and tactical training campaigns are all worth it. I have completed all 3 and I'm now on mission 12 of Piercing Fury. I really learned how to fly the Hawg from the three training campaigns. I can't recommend all four of those campaigns enough, they are all amazing. After Piercing Fury I'm going to do all the training campaigns again, they are that good. With the training campaigns you get the actual missions, plus training missions you can run over and over without having to do the ramp starts, so you can quickly get some practice in. Voiceovers for all four campaigns are spot on, especially your boss in Piercing Fury.
  25. Hey I really like the mission, but the helicopter mission spawns 150 miles away from the base. That's pretty far in a huey at 90 kts, even a little far for the A10C, speaking as someone who doesn't get a lot of time to play. Should I just keep spawning missions til I get one that's closer? I love flying, but with kids my time is very limited, sometimes I just want to fly a few (50ish) miles out and ccip some mk82s, maybe a refuel. Haven't tried to see how close I can spawn a mission yet, but I was curious if 150 miles is typical for a helo mission? Thanks for you hard work
