  2. Today I was unable to drop my second CBU. I normally drop in CCRP, that did not work after the first bomb was dropped. I tried 3 times on the same steerpoint. The solution cues passes through the VV, I'm pickling, but no drop. Tried in CCIP as well and no droppy.
  3. Hey so I love Chickenhawk, one of my all time favorite books. There is another book out there that is historical fiction about a Huey pilot in Vietnam, I read it once many years ago and I'm trying to find it again. It reads much more like an action movie than Chickenhawk but I believe the author was a pilot in Vietnam and it is drawn from his experiences. Can you possibly help me with the title? Amazon recommendations based on Chickenhawk just haven't turned it up for me and it's driving me crazy I can't think of the title.
  4. Hi all, stay at home dad of 2 here. I fly the A10C, Harrier, Huey, and Tomcat. Big aviation nerd, hoping to start real flight training next year. I'd love to join the group if possible, thanks!
  5. Shut up and take my money.
  6. I filed down the included detent and I think it's perfect. No need to lift up at all, feels great. Took some work and I was afraid I'd over do it and lose the detent completely but if you take your time and go just a few strokes at a time at the end it will come out nice. Once you get started it'll be clear where you need to file down.
  7. That makes sense thanks. Start to take a lot for granted going from A10C and AV8B to the Tomcat.
  8. No we weren't using lantirns as we were both piloting separate jets with jester. I didn't know jester could do anything with the lantirns.
  9. LOL I understand. But for a large target like a power plant or ammo dump, I would think dropping a few mk84s in computer target would get the job done. Not trying to plink Sadam Hussains tanks from angels 20. Even in daytime though it's still hard to desegnate a ground target in the cat without lining up the BFL and slewing the desegnator down while looking out the camera. I feel like if you have the coords put in, there should be some kind of marker on the hud over the target. Is the jet just not capable of doing that?
  10. A friend and I tried to hit a strike target on GAW at night. It was an ammo dump, we had the coords, gave them to Jester as a surface target. Navigated to the target, then had trouble figuring out which building it was. Only way to tell we were over the target was the HSD waypoint indicator flipped over, but there were several buildings down there and we never could ID the right one. Is there a better way? Any way to have the HUD put the designator in computer target mode on the target automatically with the coords entered? Is precision night bombing with dumb bombs just over the Tomcats's head?
  11. I have a TM Warthog. I have Pilot trim bound to CMS up, and the actual trim controls bound to the hat. I can activate the trim hold with CMS up, the bird maintains the attitude it was at when I activated, that's all well and good. But shouldn't the hat then be used for fine adjustments while pilot trim is activated? Sometimes nose up will work, sometimes not, but nose down and wings left and right never work. All my trim switches in the pit are on.
  12. Got it thank you all, I didn't realize it wasn't on the HUD anymore, I now see it on the VDI
  13. Nah it's supposed to be on both
  14. The upside down T. I never see it. I tell jester to lock enemy target ahead, my missiles usually hit, AI anyway, but the steering cue never shows on my HUD. What am I missing?
  15. How does it work IRL though? Surely the pilots arent required to fly around sams to look at them from 4 different angles then pull out their excel spreadsheet or graphing calculator to get coords right? Is there some part of the flight computer we aren't getting in the sim or is this how it really is?
  16. Talk to me Goose.
  17. FM is affected by line of sight and range. Hills can interfere with signals.
  18. It's not there because you need to align the jet now.
  19. Thanks!
  20. Are you setting nozzle stop to 60 and slamming the nozzles back to 60 degrees at the end of the ship? Are te nozzles at 0 on the takeoff roll so you are going as fast as possible? What happens do you just fall off the deck, do you stall, do you lose control?
  21. You have created a markpoint first right? After you enter northing and easting, you are in nav mode, leave DATA mode on the EHSD, then press the waypoint increment button, what happens?
  22. What is your takeoff weight? Is the Tarawa steaming into the wind?
  23. Right my mistake it's the sidewinders in chucks guide that say to flip the ir cool switch not the mavs. But that is still incorrect, you wouldn't flip that switch for the sidewinders or sidearm either. Sounds like he got it uncaged anyway.
  24. Got it thank you. It seems the only difference is the need to have the bullseye already entered as a waypoint, since you can't type in bullseye like in the hog. Pretty straight forward though.
