  1. If the index had the same resolution I would splurge on that but I hate the thought of base stations. I didn't like having the sensors plugged in for the Cv1. I'd like to get back to flying but I was telling myself I'll wait to get a new hmd first. With the 1903 update are you supposed to run the original odyssey at steam 210% scale and dcs PD of 1.0?
  2. Even the Odyssey has a higher resolution than rift S on paper. That's what I have now. Some say it's not all that matters. The lenses are newer in the rift S so visuals may be clear but the panels are not oled so the colors won't pop as much as they do in the Odyssey.
  3. My guess is they haven't found the exact root cause. Seeing as it's marketed for professional use cases, it was probably not rigorously tested for hours on end with a longer cable, etc. Or perhaps the machines it was tested on were very beefed up and isolated with only what they needed to run the headset for whatever professional use case they are marketing for. I'm still guessing here that it wasn't going to be bought widely by consumers and when the initial reviews came out with issues, that's when they realized there's a problem but haven't identified root cause completely. Surgery? Some surgeries take hours and I imagine you would need a longer cable to work with if you're a doctor or med school student who is using it to practice a real life scenario. I think they consider themselves lucky that it didn't sell all over the place due to demand issues or we would probably be seeing more people coming out with problems.
  4. Boy what a nightmare it's been. Have they actually contacted you back or do you have to call in every time and inquire? I had issues that I had similar things happen to me with Dell and Motorola, but I always got an answer after I called back and bugged them. At times when I didn't get the outcome I wanted I went to their official Twitter or Reddit and posted there. Someone would obviously respond after that. That's how I got my replacement Dell XPS 15 after their tech damaged my original.
  5. I would hope they get it sorted soon but seeing how he was told a week a go or so that they would send him a new cable, and now they say there is no ETA, I don't think a few days would do anything for us.
  6. I would return it while you still have the time. I bet they are trying their hardest not to do a wide recall yet. They screwed up big time in this design and my guess is they have not figured it out if the new cable actually fixes it or not. Unless they are just getting supply issues. I'm sticking with the original odyssey having sold my rift CV1. Was hoping to go reverb but I'm turned off enough from it now that I'll just wait until I hear something officially from HP. That's screwed up that they won't extend your return window when they told you that you would get a new cable and then they tell you that you can't get it and there is no ETA when they will have it? That just sounds like they haven't exactly figured it out.
  7. I've always had it happen to me in dcs when there was not enough light in the room, but mainly when using the original Odyssey. The Cv1 obviously didn't have any issues as it didn't depend on light for the tracking sensors as much. I guess it helps if you are near a window frame? As that helps the headset make out that it's a room.
  8. Depending on the performance of the 2080ti super, it may or may not be worth it. If the performance is greater than 25% I think anyone would want to go for the super vs a regular 2080ti. I don't think the super will be anything special other than being a higher price unlocked chip. I'm still going to hang on to my 1080ti for as long as I can. Performance gains in the gpu world lately have been horrible over the years. Spending 1k on a card is not worth it unless I can get a good year or two out of it. Seems like every 7 months they will want us to throw more money. For the par dcs isn't even as optimized as it should be, so you can only throw more hardware at it to a certain extent.
  9. They will bring out a 2080ti super later. Probably months after the initial launch of the regular supers. It's just a cash grab move to make even more money since there is no competition. Like anything below a 2080ti was higher prices for the same specs upgrade compared to previous years upgrade cycles.
  10. Yea this is because the Cv1 used the usb sensors while the rift S sensors which are internal, depend on light. Make sure there is enough light in your room.
  11. I'm glad they did allow it. I will try and go read it now haha. What's weird is they have made no public statement that there are newer units that are revised for the cable design issue.
  12. They probably will filter their reviews and possibly yours wasn't so bad. They would not want to seem like a shill to only allow 5 start reviews so they have to let a few in that have some negatives but not too negative.
  13. I'm waiting too. Shame as I have not flown in a while either. But I don't want to chance getting a bad one. But honestly it's barely available in US right now anyway.
  14. I guess contact HP and ask for a replacement. If you set the power saving settings off for every USB and USB root hub as well as the headset in device manager, then it could possibly be the headset.
  15. Do you think it's safe to say we can order from HP now and get the newer ones? Still HP US is not in stock though.
  16. It looks like consumer version. If the leather padding is more comfortable, i rather get the pro version. I also have not seen it on Amazon either. It's just much easier to return to a store or Amazon if something goes wrong. I bought my original Odyssey and Microcenter, but they don't have the reverb listed either.
  17. Weird because i started doing that method I mentioned because I was having mouse issues and after that I never encountered any more.
  18. Weird that's causing issues. Must be a wmr bug then. Not sure if there have been any updates lately because it's always worked for me.
  19. Even easier to do is put the headset on, cliff house opens up. Hit windows key and select apps then desktop. Launch dcs by clicking your desktop shortcut from within the headset.
  20. I don't know how people mess with launching dcs on wmr. Obviously you need steam vr installed and wmr app but all I do is put my headset on, my desktop appears in the headset, I click my dcs shortcut on my desktop through my Odyssey headset. Everything launches no issues. You can display your desktop inside your headset by hitting Windows key then selecting apps, and desktop.
  21. I just use a soft cloth that came with my CV1 on my Odyssey. It's been fine like that for a year. No need to use special cleaning wipes.
  22. What about the Vive cosmos? I haven't read much about it but I don't know if it's like the quest whereas you can't directly connect it to pc? I'm really hoping they do figure out the issues with the reverb but I don't have much hope. I haven't flown since the news of these new headsets because I wanted to replace my original Odyssey. Seems like I'll just be waiting longer.
  23. Who knows lol. Apparently they should have just made a statement for everyone but seems this is not the case. I don't know anyone else that they are sending a revised cable to.
  24. Not to mention that you are paying $6-700 for this headset and people are reporting it as a bad design and cheaply built (according to what I'm reading on Reddit user impressions). If it's $2-300 sure I can live with a ziptie that I may need to place on there myself but a consumer should not have to modify the end product for it to work properly. Sure enough not if you are paying the price they are selling it for.
  25. Do you think they will be sending this new cable with all the newer units? Or will everyone have to request this from HP? Sounds like they should be sending this part out to everyone that bought a headset.
