  1. 1. Leave visuals to auto. The second part let's you select the refresh rate of 60hz or 90hz. 90 is smoother but only if you can actually get 90fps in games you play. Keep it at 90hz for now and only drop it to 60hz if you are experiencing performance issues. 2. Steam automatically sets this resolution scale based on your gpu. But 1972x1928 isn't the native resolution of the reverb. Move it to 188% to get the 2160 resolution of your headset. You can either do this under the application tab, which only would do it for DCS if you select dcs under there or globally if you check the box under the video settings to apply it to everything. 3. Motion reprojection is wmr version of asw. Keep it on if you want to sustain at least 45fps. I always kept motion smoothing off. This is under steam vr settings video tab I believe. 4. I usually preferred keeping default SS In steam and using the pixel density slider in DCS. 5. Never used that fpsVR app with my Samsung Odyssey but 150% isn't going to give you native res of the Reverb. You need to set it to 188% I think.
  2. No this doesn't make any difference as you are in VR anyway.
  3. Yea I can't wait until the native support for wmr us built into dcs so we don't have to run or mess with steam vr. I've never changed much in steam vr on my end for this very reason. I mainly just use the dcs PD for simplicity.
  4. Yea I have the original odyssey as I didn't think the + would have an increased resolution anyway. As long as I can run the reverb with the same settings in my 1080ti, with PD of 1.0 instead of 1.5 I should be happy.
  5. Yea I guess now that has me curious if I already am using an odyssey, would I like the reverb if the colors are not the same. And would I even see a big difference?
  6. Very nice write-up. I concur with you that the lcd panels will have less color pop compared to oled. This is one thing I was blown away by when I went from the rift to the Samsung Odyssey. The colors really popped. I am surprised that the resolution and clarity isn't improved for you seeing how the Reverb should be 2160 per eye. I wonder why that is compared to the VP. I would most likely be concerned about the colors not matching what I see using the Odyssey. If you set your pixel density in the VP to 1.0 in DCS and then check against the same PD in the Reverb is there a difference in visuals? For me the Odyssey is a pain to wear so I figure the Reverb would be much more comfortable. I'm very surprised at your feedback compared to the reviews on YouTube. That reviewer ACG said it was so clear that he could effectively work on his pc in windows, in Photoshop, etc all through wearing the Reverb. So I was expecting the resolution to be really that much clearer.
  7. Yea my idea would be to use PD of 1.5 we the reverb and check for stutter. But when and if I get it, I'll probably run it at 1.0 in dcs to see if I like what I'm viewing. I imagine 1.5 may be a bit too much if it is already running native at 1.0.
  8. I had the same thought too. Maybe it's down sampling in wmr or steam vr? Even though steam vr sampling is default at 100% my guess is it would automatically downsample in the wmr software if the system isn't powerful enough? If I ever end up finding one to buy the first thing I would do is uninstall wmr from windows so it removes all the Samsung drivers and then plug int he Reverb and set it up, but I'd run DCS with the same settings I used on the Odyssey which would give me a baseline. Which is basically PD of 1.5, shadows low, msa x2, civ traffic off, water low or medium depending where I'll be flying, and everything thing else set to high.
  9. Thanks a lot for the feedback. Will be waiting to see what settings you have under the dcs graphics options and the more detailed info on performance but it seems it didn't give you too much trouble. It may seem like I probably won't get the Reverb here in the US until late July maybe August seeing how I have not found it in stock anywhere. I've already put my Rift up for sale but these things are hard to sell because no one wants the old model anymore.
  10. Depending on how thick your glasses are you should be able to get it on your face with them on. I let a coworker borrow my CV1 and he said it was tight but he just got the rift S and said it was much easier. Seeing how the reverb has the velcro straps for adjustment, and also a much lighter headset with a bit of a swivel up, I don't see any issue trying it with glasses. My main glasses are too thick in the frame but I only wear glasses at home, contact lenses outside. I'm sure pretty soon you will be able purchase prescription lense adapters that slide in the Reverb. I have them for the odyssey and they are great because I can come home, take out my contacts and not worry if I want to fly in dcs later in the day.
  11. Sounds good seeing as you have a 2080 so that doesn't worry me too much. One thing I would try is setting the main fps killer settings low like shadows/traffic and bumping the others up to see if it still plays smooth. With some tweaking I think it will still have decent performance.
  12. Another factor is people that dont wear their glasses or contact lenses while in the headset. Not the most common but I've met a lit of people who said they couldn't see a difference in the odyssey vs Cv1 rift because they thought they didn't have to wear their prescription glasses or lenses while in VR. That's why the review can be subjective for every person.
  13. You mean in 2 weeks.
  14. Why? Is it because of performance?
  15. Sounds decent for a 2080Ti. Hoping I can run shadows low/flat and civ Traffic off, water low, everything else high on my 1080Ti. With motion reprojection and PD 1.0. I'm using 1.5 now on the Odyssey.
  16. I would like to see their excuse for that. This time it was Ray tracing and how that's the big ticket, this is the card you need for gigilarays, etc. If it offers titan performance not just 20% more like the 2080ti then yea I could see that driving the price up.
  17. 2080 is very similar to the 1080ti so if those people can run it at normal settings than a 1080ti should be the same. If you look benchmarks of the 2080 vs 1080ti, performance is very very similar. But this doesn't mean it will do great in the Reverb. Whatever the outcome is, if it turns out everything has to be run on low then I am keeping my Odyssey. I'd rather not have to buy a 2080ti right now as it's kind of late in the cycle and I would like to wait for the next Ti iteration.
  18. Yea we need some people to test it with a 2080 or 1080ti. If I have to drop all my settings including shadows to low it wouldn't make me happy.
  19. I can't find it anywhere in the US. Amazon doesn't even list it anymore. B&H has it for preorder but no firm dates set. I guess I can wait until people here confirm performance.
  20. Do people just want the pro because if the front cloth or maybe that VR backpack adapter is more useful? I can't see myself wanting the pro just for that. Unless the pro has a better warranty or something.
  21. Looking very promising. Just need to wait until Amazon has it in stock as I don't want to buy from hp in case I need to return it for whatever reason. I'm glad mrtv said it was fine with a 1080ti too.
  22. Thanks. I'm sure it will be alright with either card even though the minimum they recommend for the Reverb is a 1080ti. I keep shadows on low/flat anyway so hopefully it won't force me to drop my other settings too much.
  23. That's good to hear! I can't wait for the no steam VR option too. What type of card were you running the Reverb?
  24. Lol why wouldn't it be? It's not like you can get a more powerful card.
  25. Nope it doesn't default anymore. Wmr rolled it back to default I believe. It's a setting file under the wmr config folders. There was a thread about it on here. It was the equivalent of setting steam to 200% SS but it only did that for the wmr environment like the cliff house and wmr apps. People were expiramenting with that in steam too because with steam you could have it apply to everything. I saw a bit of a clearer image but honestly I preferred just bumping up PD in DCS instead and keeping steam at 100% SS. I mainly use the odyssey for DCS anyway.
