  1. Oh I thought you meant specifically to users here, waiting for user input but that is not the case. I actually can't wait for someone to report on how it is compared to the Odyssey.
  2. I haven't really seen any DCS related reports for the rift S from this community. They are just out of stock because it makes sense to buy this version compared to the original rift.
  3. There's no need for a 2080ti for the rift S. On paper the odyssey still has a higher resolution than it. I'm running an odyssey are PD 1.5 with most settings on high and I get by fine on my 1080ti. Now Reverb I think the 2080ti would help more.
  4. There are times it said prime 2 days for some things I ordered that took 4 days or even got lost. Some were not delivered. I'm very curious how the rift S will fare for those that currently use the odyssey.
  5. 2080 is equal to 1080ti. I'm no way upgrading to a 2080ti for this. I'll just wait until others have tried it in DCS. Worst case scenario is I just keep using my Odyssey.
  6. Seems like 1080 is a minimum for the reverb. Arstechnia mentions here you can use a 1070 card but resolution/effects automatically get down sampled. "If you'd like to occasionally connect a high-res Reverb to a lower-than-recommended GPU, we think that's OK. Our use of a notebook-grade GTX 1070 worked in a range of popular games, but most of these automatically downgraded their resolution, anti-aliasing, or super-sampling settings. Some apps don't play as nicely, and trying to push "normal" settings in a visually rich game like Moss resulted in the kind of frame rate stutters that we wouldn't dream of recommending. But if that kind of lower-powered PC is your only option, we suggest more caution."
  7. Yea they mention it's more meant for workstations and Enterprise use so we may not have the best colors/tracking for games. Will have to wait for those that get one to really test it in DCS.
  8. Isn't turning off PD same as setting PD of 1.0? I don't plan on using a PD higher than 1.0 if I get a Reverb. I use a 1.5 PD or 1.8 on my Odyssey which runs smoothly for me. I sure hope the 50% VR improvement is sooner rather than later. But then again im also still waiting for the A10 cockpit update too.
  9. There will probably look a lot better in person. I can't wait until someone tries it out in DCS.
  10. Yea I'm not buying it until I hear from people that actually used the headset in DCS. $3-400 ok I'll buy on impulse and try it myself but since I already own an odyssey I dont feel the requirement to do this for the rift S. Since the reverb is $600+ tax I'd rather wait to hear impressions before sinking money on it just to have it quickly.
  11. You know it's completely possible they are selling the pro version of the headset first. This model MS, Best buy, and stores won't get first. As they are targeting businesses. It's possible that businesses already bought up all their stock through an internal Business to business invoice system that many companies use today. So that could explain why the website didnt show anything. I don't think they care about targeting consumers right away.
  12. Here is another cockpit detail screen for the reverb but I wouldn't put all faith into this. My odyssey looks similar in DCS for some models. https://i.redd.it/u5njn44qo1x21.jpg I don't know who would buy a stupid preorder. If you don't have a Vive or Vive pro buying the index would be the most expensive option.
  13. Never rely on the email me notifications. They have never ever worked in time for any other product I've tried to use them for when dealing with online purchases. Chances are they didn't have enough stock and were not anticipating a large consumer interest. I'm sure it will be back I stock in week.
  14. You can plug in your own headphones into the 3.5 mm audio jack. Probably in ear buds would be most comfortable.
  15. Yea the new release date was may 8, today. They probably didn't have a lot of stock anyway.
  16. I run my regular odyssey at 1.5 PD and it's smooth for gameplay. Anything higher I think DCS has issues and starts getting slow. It doesn't look like the rift S would be better for anyone that already has an odyssey and won't be happy with the power requirements of the reverb. But of course we shouldn't assume and just wait and see what others say.
  17. This is somewhat true. I remember when I got the odyssey I did a long write up comparison between the Odyssey and rift on the Reddit hoggit subforum. Lots of people responded and asked some questions which was nice because it helped some of them make up their minds. Hopefully this will change and we will actually get something once these headsets start shipping out. The thing I'm excited about is how comfortable the reverb may be because my Odyssey is pretty uncomfortable. As long as the optics are better I'll be happy assuming we can run it without having a slideshow.
  18. Unfortunately we will have to rely on people here that got one and have also used the odyssey/odyssey+ or Vive pro to make the comparison. Anything through the lense isn't going to be native of what you will be seeing in person. No video or picture is going to do it justice because it's not as simple as looking at a 1440p monitor vs a 4k monitor.
  19. The one YouTube preview video that was linked here showed the headset to be very light which is nice but it also seemed smaller than the other headsets. I definitely want to wait until someone tries out DCS with it. I am hoping it would be more comfortable. I am using an odyssey now but plan on selling my rift soon anyway. The odyssey is pretty uncomfortable for long flights.
  20. I've felt the same way about HP. Several friends would ask me to look at their laptops and they always had issues, overheating, or parts just going bad. They used to be decent but after some time this wasn't the case. We have some business laptops from work that are HP and at least those seem fine for now.
  21. I too hope they have them at the Microsoft store so I can try it out. Although I don't think that would do me any good if I only intend to use it for DCS. But this way it's only a 5 min drive to return it if it doesn't.
  22. I don't know if hp will be very serious about this headset. They are marketing it more towards businesses with that type of resolution. It doesn't seem they are trying to compete with Vive or Oculus. Seeing how there are a bunch of software issues right now with it, I don't expect it to play nicely with DCS at first if they can't even get it right on normal WMR app. Only 6% of people according to the steam survey have a 1080 and above, not counting amd cards here I guess but that's a very small subset of the population. I don't see what delaying it 2 days is going to do, I expect issues to still be there. https://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/videocard/
  23. I guess I'm lucky I've never had an issue with the odyssey. I don't think I could go back to the resolution of the rift. But I will give the software side to the rift, definitely much more user friendly.
  24. This is true about resolution. Which is why I never went back to my rift after I got the Samsung odyssey. For me it was a match of higher resolution and still having stable frame rate. Not sure we can say the same for stability with the reverb but we know for sure the resolution is higher.
  25. I'm concerned about what that article said about clarity not being as sharp for the reverb. This may be an issue for DCS so it's better to wait for actual reviews from the user base here. The rift S doesn't seem like an upgrade for an owner of the odyssey or odyssey + unless you are talking about tracking only.
