  1. Ok, So just in a recent update I've noticed that the left DDI pulls back to the Stores page upon selecting an air to air weapon, which got me to thinking where the rest of the HOTAS functions are, For Instance anytime A/A master mode is selected the Right DDI will switch to the AA radar page regardless of which page is up. If you switch to Air to ground it will switch to the surface radar I know not implemented yet. that's the behaviour for the master mode switches. More interesting is the CASTLE hat switch (sensor select) if you are not currently in a tac page (radar, SA ,HSI, hud, weapon page like mavf) selecting castle right will bring the A/A radar mode up from nav master mode or A/A master mode on the right DDI in A/G MM it brings up the A/G radar page, down on the castle will bring the HSI up on the MPCD and left brings the stores page up in NAV mode and A/G master mode but in A/A master mode it brings up the AZ/EL page(also not implemented yet) The weapon select will also put the A/A radar on the right ddi and put the stores on the left if you castle hat left again it brings up the AZ/EL on the left. Something that I think is very useful . Also if you have the HSI as the selected sensor and hit tdc designate it selects the current WP as TGT same as selecting wpdesignate. Also very useful. Just wonder when we will start seeing these behaviours implemented, since I fly it VR it will make my life easier, say going from striking a target to a/a without having to take my hands off the stick and throttle.
  2. Canadian Hornets aren't flared either ,they do give it a shot of throttle right before touchdown to lower the decent rate usually. The landing gear doesn't like to be gently put down and strange and undesirable things can happen if put down too lightly.
  3. Just put a SA-15 tor next to the radar for the SA-10 it should shoot down harms.
  4. Not sure exactly what you are looking for but send me a PM I can try and answer what you need , I have 11 years working on the hornets gear .
  5. If everyone in this thread wanting TWS /LTWS if you go look at the poll sticky in here you will see why they are working on the things they are , it isn't split 50/50 AA/AG its more like a 30/70 everyone wants A/G for the hornet first then AA. The hornet can protect itself pretty good as we speak , enough to do a strike but it doesn't do air to ground very well still , You shouldn't really be doing CAS with it,it should strike high value tgts and go home . The 120 also flys just fine in stt , you can break lock and it still tracks on to tgt after pitbull so the comment someone made about it being fox 1s makes no sense. Just what I see anyway, the hornet for me is what I wanna fly to go and blow up some ground targets without having to rely on the 2 f-15s on you rwr for cap but actually they didn't even load anything up and are practicing formation flying in a combat server, might as well point your a-10 into a mountain.
  6. Like Mover was saying flaring can cause planning link failures because the shock absorbers don't collapse enough if you are light causing the planing arms to not lock in place , thats why if you are heavy its authorized because the weight will collapse them. Most of the time pilots will give a quick burst of throttle before touchdown to lower the decent rate.
  7. Ya pull all 4 circuit breakers under the canopy sill labeled fcs . Then enjoy PIO mode.
  8. The f-18 very much has flaps and ailerons that are independent of one another theres a servocylinder for the flap and one for the aileron, the only way to get flaps in fixed position is gain override like everyone else mentioned. There is no way to pull the "fuse" (breaker) the only breaker is for the FCC's and that will put you in mech mode and you don't want to fly like that.
  9. Had an issue last night using AACQ after undesignating the radar wouldn't show any contacts but if I went back into AACQ it would lock the last target I was locking even though the radar was blank , it does this until you cycle AA/AG master mode with nothing designated then you see contacts again.
  10. Not saying that thats not the way it is in the real thing but it just doesn't work right in vr with it only in one eye. It does not feel the same its like my eyes are constantly trying to focus on it because its only being rendered %50 of the time because of the async if it ran at 90fps it would be fine. It feels like its in both eyes with the real hmd on and the only way to simulate this would be put it in both eyes. It isn't about how it really is its about simulating how it really is .
  11. No that's about where it is , feels a bit awkward in the real thing too , it definitely could be brighter . Its also a bit too big but the entire scale in vr seem a tad big.
  12. Yea I haven't tried it yet but what you're saying is its only in one lens ? If so its definitely gonna feel weird . I've used the real JHMCS and it is only in the right eye but you can't tell it is unless you close your right eye. VR would be better to have it in both eyes because I know from before when there was a bug in the a-10 and the hud was only one eye it was giving me headaches.
  13. Yes this is how the actual aircraft works at least the A+++ (Canada) is anyway.
  14. So I'm not sure if this is currently in the works or its not known, but when you transmit or receive a radio transmission the corresponding radio shows an icon in the area where the channel number is. This is quite useful when you are unsure of what freq someone just talked on. not sure how it would interact with SRS but should be easy to implement for radio keybind presses and atc transmits etc. I have attached a rough drawing from memory of what the symbol looks like.
  15. Sorry but I can't say the model but they are fully FAA compliant.
  16. Hornet is quite small if anything I find it slightly bigger.
  17. Well we have auto focusing NVGs on CF-18's you can read the instruments and see the outside. It has a leaky green filter to allow the green light from the nvg mode of the internal lights to be seen.
  18. So apparently we don't have the auto focusing NVGs for some reason , seems like a waste to have the nvg capable cockpit and it's useless, NVGs used to be awesome until they updated em can't stand em now.
  19. It's always there when antiskid is off to advise you that it's off , antiskid should be off on the carrier deck.
  20. Can't comment on radios, but it has ILS and GPS approaches, it has a spotlight on the gun door (left side aft of the radome) It has upgraded GPS better than the c models. You can change the pattern of the strobe lights as well. The launch bar is electrically and hydraulically disconnected but it remains on because when it was removed it caused a bad nose wheel shimmying problem. Also doesn't have the c models 4 buckets of countermeasures just 2.
  21. Yes it has it, forgot to say I was mentioning the legacy.
  22. Since no one really answered your cage question, it's under the hotas commands called cage/uncage. It's the same as used for aim 9 seeker/ changing modes for aim-7/aim-120.
  23. I've flown the hornet and that would be considered more input than blowing on the stick, but the aircraft also has a ratio changer that moves depending on flap scheduling giving more or less authority to the H-stabs. The stick should get slightly less sensitive with flaps full in DCS the aircraft flys just as sensitive as if you were doing 300kts with flaps auto. I have curves on my stick ,but the jet flight model should change pitch sensitivity with flap position change that's how the real aircraft does it.
