Lol MBot, very true! I've been flying some circuits tonight around Sochi-Alder airbase and felt that 400km/h was quite nice with stage 1 flaps. Then when the marker beacon hit I went to full flaps and slowly let the speed bleed to about 340km/h at which point I was at the threshold to flare and slowly reduce to idle. This was however with a clean configuration and only 50% fuel in the tank. Still a little bumpy on landings but much better than I was. For cruising at pattern altitude I was at about 600km/h.

I'm not expecting it to be an "I win" thing, just wanted to know more info on the performance envelope that's all. Do you know where I might find such charts?

Joey it's essential a flight data recorder and the app takes the info out of DCS and turns it into graphs etc. So next time someone comes back with a convoluted excuse as to why their MiG is burning in a hole at the end of the runway we can see what really happened :P. Great work, using this in combination with tac view would be great for reviewing performance in close in dogfight scenarios. Would be able to see exactly when you were losing too much airspeed etc. Great stuff :).

Does anyone have a performance chart etc for showing the optimal speeds for turning circles, tried the interception quick mission last night and found it very hard to get on the F-4's tail and think perhaps I wasn't flying efficiently. Only managed to pick him off when he reached bingo fuel and was flying in a nice straight line back to his base. Easy guns kill :).

Morning guys, think I may have found an issue with regards to the dual R-60 mountings and the ripple fire missile selection on the pylon select dial. I had a test mission where I was trailing a B-52H at a good distance but still well within the R-60's engagement zone. I selected pylons 1-4? (the top selection in the AA missiles portion of the dial) and managed to fire off two missiles in succession yet when I went to fire again nothing happened as if the sim didn't register the two remaining R-60's on the same pylons. Had to fire them off individually instead. If I'm doing something wrong would appreciate if someone chimed in. Is this normal behaviour? Great module LN! LW

You guys make me very jealous posting such gorgeous screen shots! I shudder every time I load up DCS these days, low quality textures and absolutely no extra effects on plus tons of jaggies from having no msaa enabled. Must...get...new...PC :(.

Remember there used to be some half decent mods in the past on say LOfiles which boosted FPS a little by setting custom graphics settings and disabling things like canopy scratches. Can't see any obvious ones about at the moment, are there any?

One thing that stuck out to me was how insanely detailed LN's pilot model is for the MiG-21. It's funny when you hit eject on the F2 view you have this awesome looking pilot then the shock of ejection mutates him into the standard low poly pilot in the other ED modules.

Yeah sure mines so low spec it's silly. i3 clocked to 4.2Ghz, 4GB RAM 2300Mhz, GTX460 640MB, 500GB Seagate HDD with Win 7 HP.

Thank you for the update Cobra. Great to hear the team are so quick to patch things up for us :). I have to admit I'm really struggling at the moment, and I expect nothing less tbh as my rig is so old but I do seem to get at least 15-20fps more in other aircraft. At present I'm getting about 12-15fps on the ground and no more than 24fps in the air so any improvement would be very much appreciated!

Magical AI with the powers of hacks. It is known that the AI fly absolutely perfectly and not using normal flight modelling. Been an issue in DCS for ages now. All I can suggest is as you get better with the MiG you will learn it's performance and fly better.

Cobra, you and the rest of the LN team have really punched above your weight this last few weeks. When ED released the module early I thought something might go iffy since you had planned to release today, but even so you guys rose to the challenge and made sure we all had our keys. Can't imagine anyone being able to pull off a lunch as smoothly as that, especially when it was unplanned! I have the utmost respect for you guys, and I can't wait to see what you come up with next! :thumb up: As far as performance goes, I was expecting it to be a little on the low side since my rig is in dire need of upgrading. But was facing a problematic 10fps on the ramp at Krymsk in the training mission thankfully at Sochi it's a bit smoother where the 159th flies from. Having said that I'm confident you guys will have fixes coming out of your ears before long :). The MiG-21 is a real beast to fly, and it's going to be fun trying to tame it and learn to fight in it!

Anyone got copies of the high resolution pictures for the panels? I'm memorising the start up procedure and it's a pain flicking through the pages when I go through the sequence :P. Great manual though LN, the historical background was an interesting read!

So if we're on v1.2.10 now will the next version be .11 or 2.0? :P since they released a new "version" as a means to incorporate the F-86 etc.

Don't get me wrong, for those guys who enjoy the WWII era stuff that's great for them and I'm not against the idea of having different eras in the sim but more how it's being developed. Wouldn't it make more sense to have say a decent quantity of modern stuff for that era, THEN move on to something like the 50's with the Korean jets and then WWII? It's great having different tech in the game, but not when it's all jumbled up so much it's hard to get a good match up of air frames in MP.

I hope not, to be fair I'm pretty tired of these WWII prop aircraft, they just don't have a place in the combat environment in DCS. Sure they're fun to fly, but whats the point when you don't have anything from that time era etc to match it to? DCS started off as LOMAC, a JET aircraft sim... it should remain that way. We need more fighters, MiG-23, F-4, MiG-29 etc all at DCS levels so we have aircraft which are good matches against each other in combat.

Great video! The cockpit shadowing in the MiG looks absolutely gorgeous and I really can not wait to get my hands on this. Only problem is I'll have to dial the graphics down to their lowest to get playable FPS until I can purchase a new PC! The rate of climb that little jet can achieve is pretty spectacular, will be interesting being down low and then zooming up to ambush some unsuspecting player scanning at med/high altitudes and shoving an IR missile up his tailpipe! Nearly there guys!

Yeah I would like to but money will be fairly tight so it's going to have to be sub £1000 since my Cougar and rudder pedals are also on their last legs and will need replacing very soon as I've had them for 7-8 years now of almost constant use. Watched some videos and I probably could do a self build but the 12month 0% finance offers on overclockers make things much easier for me so I might end up going with them regardless as banks don't tend to do BNPL loans like that these days AFAIK. EDIT: And off will wait for EDGE to be released, I'm merely trying to budget and plan ahead since I will have other bills to pay for the car soon :).

What is your current graphics card? I'm no expert, but since you only have 4GB of RAM you're not meeting the DCS minimum system requirements. I'm in the same boat with only 4GB, it might be worth getting 8GB RAM since DCS always has a lot of assets to load up and you might bottleneck a GPU like the 640 with it. I'm actually not going to bother upgrading my current system and am going to save for a whole new build since it would work out better in the long run as with the 9XX series nvidia cards supposedly around the corner the 640 might be obsolete before you even get it. Would recommend getting AT LEAST a 750 preferably a 770. I feel your pain being on a tight budget though, all my kit is giving up at once as it's old now and I can't afford to replace it all!
