Some bad news, depending on which side you´re on..
JG-1_Vogel replied to Prowler111's topic in RAZBAM
I'd be happy with just a GR3 tbh :P. FS2 Sea Harrier would be epic too if someone could model the Invincible class. -
Apologies if this has been discussed before, my search-fu is weak these days. Since patching to the latest 1.5 version I've noticed that my cockpit tool tips for the MiG-21 are all in Russian despite running the English version of the game. I've not been involved with DCS for quite a while, so I'm still getting used to the new UI for the main screen but couldn't see options to alter which language the tool tips show as, only to enable or disable them outright. It's driving me nuts, since I've mostly forgotten what many of the switches do in the pit of the MiG. Any feedback would be appreciated. Also, on a separate note. Whenever I eject, about a dozen duplicates of the canopy spawn instead of the one. My pilot leaves the aircraft but the model still shows the canopy attached minus the pilot model. It's a bit peculiar.

I'm blown away by the open beta so far. I completely stopped playing DCS for a while since performance was so poor on my new PC, which suffered from awful stutter, massive variations in FPS and was generally more effort than it was worth to get running properly. That's all changed now, whereas I was struggling to maintain 30-45fps in 1.2 I'm now getting anywhere from 60fps+ in the most dense areas to well over 120fps in low density areas. Absolutely amazing, the lightingis just perfect... And to top it all off, I got my new Track IR today after my old one got lost in the move! Huzzah! :joystick:

Next DCS (Russian) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
JG-1_Vogel replied to Milene's topic in DCS Core Wish List
It would be great to see a fully modelled Su-25 at some point, but I doubt it's on ED's radar at the moment. Besides we have the A-10 for CAS work even if it's flight characteristics are quite different, just wait for the Hornet/Tomcat to come out and you'll never look back :). -
I don't see anything either, unless you're referring to the light rays?

I've flown a fair few sims in my time, and to date DCS possibly has the worst I've ever known. It's been some time since I flew ANYTHING offline, normally I'm hanging around the 159th Dedi looking for something to embed a few GAU-8 rounds into however tonight I thought I'd try the "In the Weeds" mission. So we're flying to the target area, a SA-8/9 (can't remember exactly) fires a missile at my wingman because for some inexplicable reason he doesn't want to fly low like we have to. His initial response, instead of jinking slightly and evading the missile (which was fired at about RMAX I believe) he dumps his entire mission payload. Then I get sniped by a BTR from close to TWO MILES with it's machine gun. Instantly knocks out my CICU so I'm blind as a bat after taking only two/three rounds (although the external damage looks like a bloody blast fragmentation warhead exploded just off my port side). So then I RTB and have the usual issues with being unable to request landing clearance despite being on short finals only a couple miles from the runway threshold. Suffice to say it's extremely unlikely I'll be touching offline play any time soon again. How can ED be selling campaigns as paid for DLC given the AI in general is this bad? Compared to Falcon 4.0 which pre dates this game by MANY years has AI infinitely better than this one it's something which should be embarrassing to ED. We have hugely complex weapons systems and avoinics, top notch flight modelling but without working AI/ATC it's all for nothing if you can't find a real person to fly CO-OP online with.

A common mistake I used to make was selecting GBU-12 direct from the DSMS page instead of selecting the profile with TMS left/right short which reverts the GBU to it's default profile which won't include lase time for Auto lase, which might be one reason why you can't get it to always track. Also look for the "tail" which indicates direction to your current SPI, if it's coming from a steerpoint you know the SPI isn't set on the target

New Site Layout Up...Nice new look!
JG-1_Vogel replied to Eight Ball's topic in Forum and Site Issues
Looks great, but the first picture in that armament section confuses me. Why have a TER with 2x AGM-65D and then just a single AGM-65H... asymmetrical loadout much?! -
Is it possible to send mark point data to wingmen using the datalink? It would be great to allow flight members to instantly slew to the target group you're looking at to coordinate attacks if they have trouble finding them. In the Ka-50 the datalink is essential and it would seem silly for it not to be possible in the Hog.

Tbh seeing that made me realise how much I'd love to get my hands on a modern day X-Wing Vs Tie-Fighter simulation. Would be absolutely epic.

Amazon only have one of these in stock, and other suppliers seem to have run out. They're not being discontinued are they? I really want some, just not for almost £80 seen them for around £50 before.

90+ frames/sec - overkill?
JG-1_Vogel replied to thunderchicken02's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
OP out of curiosity what's your rig spec? I got a brand new x99 system with 16gb of DDR4 and a GTX970 with good i7 running at 3.9ghz (need to overclock some more) but DCS will often slow to a crawl on a busy MP server and struggle to deliver more than 30-40 fps, where tearing becomes and issue for me. -
I was wondering how they would end the video, a nuke seems somewhat appropriate! :D

Ok, I'm no expert with prop planes but I'm pretty decent with the Mustang which is pretty nice to fly but this thing is uncontrollable on take off. I set flaps, slowly increase RPM and even put in a little right stick to try and counter torque effect. The thing just veers off to the left regardless of what I do and goes off balance and cartwheels into the ground. What makes this worse is that there aren't even training tracks in place to help you out. I'm all for reading manuals (when I have the time - I work 12 hour shifts and often CBA when I get home) but I'm at a loss and ready just to try something else instead of hitting my head against a wall. Anything I should be aware of trying to get this crate off the ground? No wonder the luftwaffe lost so many pilots on landing/takeoff if this is an accurate representation.

Thanks for the response, I missed the Steam FAQ sticky just above the thread and found all I needed to know in there. So, if anyone else has similar queries about Steam go check the FAQ :). Bought the Mustang and the '109 :). Had to try very hard not to buy anything else, especially since I bought my shiny new Warthog only a couple days ago :P.

If I buy modules for DCS off Steam, is it still possible to transfer the keys over to my ED account so I can use them as stand alone? Would rather not have Steam using up resources while I'm flying.

DCS World environmental shaders mod
JG-1_Vogel replied to Mustang's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I installed this last night, and with the HDR enabled (which I like personally) my horizon is REALLY bright to the point where it totally obscures the HUD display, I just can't read it. Is there a way to tweak the settings or is something like SweetFX mandatory for this mod? -
X-55 Rhino impressions?
JG-1_Vogel replied to JG-1_Vogel's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks for your input guys, the lack of a two stage trigger is kind of pants amongst other things... I'm leaning towards the WH again. -
Hey everyone. For some time I've been wanting to get a Warthog to replace my aged Cougar, but am slowly realising I may not be able to afford the extra £120-150 to get one over the price of it's closest rival as I see it, the X-55. I've had some bad experiences with Saitek products in the past, my rudder pedals broke after only a few weeks and needed repairing with some parts Saitek sent me. I got a flight yoke from them which too had broken buttons etc when it came to me. It hasn't exactly inspired confidence. My question is this, has Saitek's product quality improved over recent years? Can I expect several years of frequent use out of an X-55? Or am I simply better off scrimping and saving for a few extra months to get the Warthog? Not only that, but is the X-55 as accurate as the Hog? I know the Hog HOTAS uses HALL sensors while the Rhino uses springs much like my Cougar. Is there much of a difference? Any help would be much appreciated.

Was just thinking... F-14... Su-24. Fleet CAP against attacking Fencers with anti-ship missiles? AWESOME! I might actually prefer the Fencer over the Tomcat (sorry!). -

Awesome blog! An LN don't sweat we were just going a little stir crazy after the hype train reached LEO. Just a little while longer now! Very curious about the ground radar, my initial thought was "OH! MiG-27!" but that didn't have an A2G radar did it? Just the wee sensor thingmibob at the front. -
can we have a February Monthly update :)
JG-1_Vogel replied to plehmann's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Um, well today is the last day of Feb. Did I miss something or is there an update coming this month? -

JG-1_Vogel replied to plehmann's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Talk about leaving it until the last minute. Tomorrow is the last day of February, unless it comes out later today they're really cutting it close to the wire. -
Not my cup of tea personally, but credit to those who do. Have to admit though it would be great to see some newer AI aircraft/helos as a lot of current airframes are missing which is a shame. Then again, I'd have a list as long as my arm of airframes I'd like to see included in DCS.
