Mi-8 CSAR / Medivac Missions?
JG-1_Vogel replied to Vedexent's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
This was something I was discussing with squad mates earlier, would be very interesting to do :). I imagine it's possible too if you imagine how JTAC AI can direct you to targets, perhaps we can have a casualty pop up along the FEBA and go pick up. -
Just tried the repair option and it seems to be working now, currently downloading the patch. DCS it a fickle beast isn't it! The slightest thing out of sync and it can send the whole thing gaga. EDIT: No, just came back to my computer and it's come up with the same error. So download DCSW and install it over my existing copy? Or uninstall everything and start fresh?

Tbh I would rather see a Su-25A at full DCS standard :). It's more maneuverable and quicker, the T was just too slow and too heavy considering they share the same powerplant IIRC? That being said, any DCS level Su-25 would be most welcome, it's the aircraft I've flown almost exclusively since FC came out :).

That's my issue. I can't install the Black Shark 2 update because when you try to install it states that I must update my version of DCS world first. So I try to run the update and again just now it said it couldn't update with the same message. So I'm a little stuck atm.:helpsmilie:

I'm trying to update my DCSW so that I can install the update for BS2 from the original BS, however every time I try to patch I get a message along the lines of "The servers can not handle your request, please try later". Is there an issue with the patch server or do I need to repair my install?

If they were to build a replacement for the A-10 what could they do differently though? The design of the A-10 is nigh perfect for a dedicated CAS aircraft. It's got high mounted engines for protection, a thick straight wing for excellent lift and stability and low speeds plus a big ass gun on the front. In my eyes, the only thing that can replace the A-10 is, well... another A-10!

Makes me think of the good old days with JANES Fleet Command. Damn I loved that game, and most of the other JANES titles. Sad times when they released the trash that was JASF. You know somethings amiss when an Ace Combat game beats a JANES title. EDIT: Just watched the above video, my God it looks so lifelike it's almost scary.

Any news of a Su-25T 6DOF Cockpit?
JG-1_Vogel replied to JG-1_Vogel's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Don't get me wrong, American aircraft are impressive. The avionics in the A-10C were fantastic and it was great... but there are so many assists (SAS) it didn't appeal to me. Dropping bombs from angels 25 and turning home gets old quick. Much prefer to be going toe to toe with some AAA with a 50/50 chance of getting him or me taking a ride in the silk... just depends on what cards you're dealt. Plus, yankee stuff just doesn't look as nice. Someone once said that if it looks right it will fly right... it was true for the Spitfire and I'll be damned if it isn't the same for the Flanker or the MiG-29... look at those curves! :pilotfly::joystick: -

Meh, yucky American planes :P. Give me a Flanker any day! -
Any news of a Su-25T 6DOF Cockpit?

That would be a heck of an update! -
I only recently got FC3, and was disappointed to find that the Su-25T didn't have a 6DOF cockpit yet. Has ED mentioned anything about this? Once I got used to flying the 25A it's pretty glaring how dated those old pits are now.

I'm still having issues with my HOTAS. I got it to work, for a while by doing a fresh install of the drivers/foxy/reflash the stick. However just before a squad night tonight it started playing up again. The computer recognises the HOTAS, I can upload profiles and everything is ok. I click on the red box to activate the profile in CCP. Then, the moment I load up DCSW or the MP shortcut suddenly it greys out the box and windows no longer sees the controller. It's doing my nut in, as up until a few days ago it was working flawlessly. I'm really running out of ideas guys, I would really appreciate feedback and know if anyone's experienced issues like this before.

I copied the code from the tmj and tmm files for my Su25 profile and created a new on with it, same issue. Does it with all profiles. Think my Foxy install is messed up. EDIT: Ok, so Foxy is working to a degree (reinstalled). I've created fresh profiles by copying code from notepad which all checks out. However, on the joystick layout editor there are no commands listed for the buttons etc while the throttle is showing everything I've programmed. When I go into FC3 the commands work for the throttle but not for the stick, which is strange. Also, in the CCP next to calibration etc I've got "Profile: <none>" even though it just downloaded it from Foxy? Is Foxy actually sending stuff to my Cougar? Or should I try flashing it again?
-
Yeah I've done the firmware and it seems to be recognised ok now. Only thing is now whenever I try to load a profile from foxy it says I'm missing keycodes.txt (even though its in the Foxy main directory) and copying the backup from the Info folder makes no difference. So stuck with the default profile for the Cougar atm.

Ok I just unplugged everything and for a moment it was ok, loaded a profile (button was green in control panel) I load up Teamspeak, then quit because no one was on server and now it's gone again saying it's not connected???? Checked and under USB controllers in Device Manager it's showing Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar IN and OUT as ok. I really don't get the problem?
-
After a fun night flying with squad mates having just bought FC3 my Cougar is having a tantrum and refusing to work properly. According to Device Manager TM Cougar IN and OUT are "working properly" and recognised fully by the computer. Yet, when I load up the control panel to active my loaded profile all I have it a greyed out box with a pop up of something along the lines of "error - please ensure the device is connected and working properly". The confusing thing is, when I load up DCS FC3 I can hop in the pit and the axis controls for the stick and throttle work fine. Just none of the buttons work since no profile is activated. I tried recompiling a profile in Foxy and loading it to the HOTAS memory but the problem still persists. Have also unplugged the HOTAS USB and reconnected, no change and a reboot didn't improve things either. Just really worried at this point, I've had the Cougar for quite a few years now and I'm really not in the position to be buying another or a different HOTAS system.

I would absolutely love to see a full DCS Su-25A, it's an absolute classic and damned fast and nimble when she's not loaded down with bombs :D.

Red Storm Rising to this day is one of, if not my favourite novel. Could never put it down and read it over and over. 66 is too young for this day and age. RIP Tom :(.

Hey guys, I made a quick mission for me to test. The target were some parked aircraft on the ramp, and I wanted to try bombing them with the GPS guided bombs. I've used them before with no problems, so know how to deploy them normally. However on this time I couldn't get them to pickle. In DSMS it shows ALN UNS or something like that and they wouldn't release. Any tips?

Completed My First Instant Action Mission!
JG-1_Vogel replied to AhSoul's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I'm in the same boat as the OP. I just got back into DCS and was determined to learn how to fly the Warthog. Managed to get the startup from cold nailed and have now managed to go through all the campaigns to learn about mavs and guided munitions. Got the DSMS profiles nailed too now trying to figure out the CDU to input custom waypoints etc. So much to learn, really really good fun. My main issue is my PC just isn't up to the job for MP, only running an i3 with a 460gtx and 4gb of RAM so it's sooooo slooowwwww to load stuff. Limited to SP basic missions atm. -
Thanks guys, using Vipers profile and it works a treat. A question about axis curves for the Hog, I remember some time back for the Su-25T they recommended that you leave the axis for pitch etc in a straight diagonal line so you don't mess up the AFM. Is this the case? Is there a generally favoured curve for the Hog? Just feels a little too twitchy with my Cougar atm.

Hey guys, just managed to get DCSW installed with the A-10 module. Haven't flown the A-10 since before DCSW came out and haven't got any profiles for my HOTAS. Was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for profiles which mimic the real functions somewhat (mainly on the stick since the throttle isn't the same). Thanks in advance :).

Hey folks, I'm still running Black Shark 1 at the moment and struggle to get decent performance in the A-10C and unsure if I should upgrade or not. Also been looking at the Huey with a lot of interest but am concerned again about fps and if it will be playable or not. Anyone know what kind of fps drop I can expect? Current spec: i3 OC'd to 4.20Ghz 4Gb RAM Nvidia GTX460 Win 7 64bit

Awesome, wonder if I could attach a small boat there... a guys gotta go surf after a hard day y'know :P.

Should we keep the autopilot and weapons hint display?
JG-1_Vogel replied to EvilBivol-1's topic in DCS: UH-1H
Aids like this are helpful for new pilots. The Huey isn't technically as advanced as the Shark for instance but the FM is a beast and I think having a few helpful hints on screen will be helpful. If you don't like it, just turn it off?
