Hi: I'm trying to understand what is happening in regard to aircraft speeds in combat. I'm flying against A6M5's (A mod aircraft.) The maximum speed you can set it at a waypoint is 305 kph A spitfire 9 or P-47 can be set at 448 kph. I've been setting two flights AI controlled to watch in 3rd person. Allied 4 plane flight, Japanese 3 plane flight. I've tried, P-51, P-47, Spitfire 9, Hellcat (Mod), P-38(Mod) numerous times. In all cases not only did the A6m5's win but not a single A6m5 has been shot down or even hit. All allied aircraft wind up dead, No planes appear to use their speed in any way, they just mess around at 230 IAS which means the more maneuverable zero wins. What can I do in the editor to get a more realistic outcome? Thanks

Would it be possible to add a command when placing aircraft in the editor to use Boom and Zoom tactics or Turn fight tactics? Right now, I believe AI aircraft just use turn fight tactics? This gives more maneuverable aircraft a great advantage. Even though they may be considered to be inferior fighters. This is really noticeable in WW2 aircraft. The other thing would be to add the option "Make wingman to..." Right now, when the enemy are spotted the whole flight just scatters, also giving an advantage to the maneuver fighters. Sorry if this has been requested before (Must have been but I don't see it)

Someone is making a flyable one, at least I think it's still in progress. It's looking pretty good in the pictures.

This would be my number 1 most wanted map by far.

I know this is an old thread, but would love to see the G4M updated to the latest open beta.

I believe AI cannot takeoff and land from the runway. Once you choose takeoff or land the editor switches to the nearest map runway. At least that's what happens to me.

That is exactly what I'm looking for. Would greatly appreciate a pm. Thanks Mark

Large parts of some maps are not developed. Has anyone made a mod that has a large ground unit or perhaps very large aircraft carrier modded to look like a runway ? One that could launch any plane ? This would allow us to place AI on airfields not in game. Units placed on them could be destroyed. I think. No damage model because you don't want to destroy the airfield itself. Right now I just stick an aircraft carrier where I want the base but it cannot launch any plane. Kinda off the wall I know but it would give the AI a place to launch and return to.

I would still rather have him there. You could assign a hot key to disappear him when looking in that quadrant. Not seeing the co-pilot has caused me to pass on flying the Mossie for now.

Items for consideration in building the Pacific theater in DCS
Seaside replied to Charlie Foxtrot's topic in Pacific Theatre
There are a number of AI Japanese/US etc. aircraft in the MODS area. Much much better than reskinning an FW190 IMO. -
Ya, there is something about the earlyish war stuff , wildcats, Buffaloes, vals sbd's kates, Beauforts, hudsons, devastators, avengers. P-40's etc. that gets me

I keep coming back to look at the pics Lol !

As Iceland, Norway, maybe Alaska and if they do a Sea harrier as a Falkland 82 map.
-
The two I would like to see first would be the Solomons and the area around Singapore And the Philippines a close 3rd.

WWII Japanese Pacific Theater Naval Order of Battle
Seaside replied to Hawkeye60's topic in DCS Modding
This is great ! All we really need now is a couple more Japanese/US/UK heavy cruisers. And a UK destroyer to go with the corvette -
Ah I'll look. I bypassed it in the f-18 Thanks

That's what I thought. I think I'll un-map the throttle. I think I bump it sometimes. I had it mapped to a slider on my Thrustmaster and what I'm finding is that if I move the throttle out of the fly position. (Even on the ground). The game does not seem to recognize when I put it back into fly position. Game continuously gives high/low rotor speed warning/ Maybe a bug ? or maybe just my install ? Thanks
-
I seem to be having trouble with rotor speed. I can take-off and almost land but I start getting rotor speed high warnings when airborne. I try adjusting pitch but the rotor speed stays the same. If I reduce throttle by a hair the rotor speed is fine for a few seconds then I get low rotor speed. I wind up in a seesaw battle with the throttle which I thought we should rarely touch ? Would be nice to see some "what to do if" videos. I don't recall Wags having any issues with rotor speed for instance or maybe I missed it. Just a thought.

Yup ! Getting old ! Or so people like to tell me Lol !

Commodore Pet at technical school - You had 10 minutes before they crashed Lol ! No flight sim on that baby . Vic 20 was a major upgrade

And the Gladiator Lol ! I hear ya. They could do without the Gladiator actually To be honest a 109E and a Mk 1 spit would get things started at the rate the modders are going, We already have a Ju-87, JU-88, He-111 and even a Hurricane done , maybe not the exact versions but they would get us by for now.
