  1. Please see track. I release 4 bombs. Watching weapon view (F6) after release the bombs "overlap" with each other and then explode in mid-air. Is this expected behaviour or a bug? mk84 strangeness.trk
  2. I haven't viewed your tracks (yet) but it seems to me that if you're trying to drop 10 bombs with a spacing of 1,000 ft, then that's 9,000 ft between the first and last bomb. Since the CCIP predicted point is supposed to be the "midpoint" of the bomb drop then the solution simply might not be possible from a height of 300 ft. At the moment you press the pickle button the last (i.e. the first to drop) bomb already has to land / have landed 4,500 ft behind the CCIP pipper. I really don't know, but just a thought. Before I read your post I had been experimenting with 82y and I had no problems dropping 8 in sequence. However my spacing was only 80 ft. I was flying at 500 kts and 500 ft. As already stated the trick seems to be keeping the fpv on or just above the horizon line.
  3. Thank you very much. It is "select" in my (English) version.
  4. In the draw tool, line and segments selected, when I draw one or more line segments I am unable to delete them. I have tried pressing the delete key from within the draw tool. I have also tried to select the line from the ME intending to then press delete, but I am unable to select the line. Also, when drawing line segments if I want to end the operation the only way to do so appears to be to press ESC, which also exits the draw tool. Is there no way to stop drawing the current line but remain in the draw tool?
  5. As always, apologies if user error from me. The mission is as follows: I am launching from WP1, BOL, with a search activation of 30 nm. As I understand it the hpd should ignore the the ships at 20 nm, but instead it always goes for the northernmost ship. Track attached. Is there still work outstanding on the harpoon? harpoon_early.trk
  6. That was... me . I had posted in the F-18 forum. Seems like it could be a bug, no? So I deleted there and reposted here.
  7. I have a mission where I have set numerous triggers that set up the aircraft (F-18) at mission start as required. I would like to quickly copy those triggers to a number of other missions; doing it manually in the ME will take ages. I thought it would be as simple as copying what I believe to be the relevant sections from the file "mission" within the .mis file, but this appears to do absolutely nothing. Does anyone know if I have to make other changes in the .mis? Or if there's any other way to do this. Thanks for any suggestions.
  8. I'm trying to attack some tanks using lasing from the JTAC. First mav hits a tank fine, but any further attacks result in the mavs missing and hitting the same spot on the ground. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? See trk and mis for details. maverick_miss.trkf18c_a2g_tank_convoy_agm-65e.miz
  9. That was me. For some reason I just got it into my head that the number from ME was in metres; I keep telling myself there's a good reason for my confusion, but I think I just have to put it down to stoopid old me. Sorry to waste your time, and thanks for replying to the other post also.
  10. Thank you. Man do I feel like a bit of an idiot. For some reason, I was SURE it was in metres.
  11. Please see attached. Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong? If I fly the same mission with JDAM I can hit the target, following the same procedure. Thanks. P.S. I don't know why the mission file shows up twice below, I only uploaded it once. ??? f18c_a2g_outpost_ajsow_miss.trkgm-154c_pp.miz I've just realised that I didn't set qnh on the altimeter on that attempt. On past attempts where I have it's made no difference.
  12. Thanks, this is actually the question I was trying to ask, sorry to everyone else if I didn't make it clear. What do USN F-18 pilots actually do? I find it very unlikely that they use the civil procedure outlined above, unless, I suppose, they are being separated by civil ATC from civilian aircraft. I doubt they would be using flight levels while flying combat missions. It would be nice to get a response from someone with real world (USN) experience.
  13. You're not. This is one of those missing "little things" (like being unable to set AB position on the throttle axis) that make me wonder if there is a mischievous prankster at ED who enjoys winding us all up. Infuriating.
  14. I came across this just now... I notice that it's still set to 29.92 for missions where the aircraft starts in the air. Is this correct? Wouldn't it be more likely for a regional QNH to be used rather than standard? Can anyone confirm what standard USN F-18 procedure for this is? If I'm going to get really pedantic about it, wouldn't it also be the case that the pressure would not be correctly set in a cold and dark aircraft since it would still have the setting from the previous flight, which would likely be different? EDIT: P.S. Does changing the altimeter setting affect weapons delivery? If so, does it have to be set to QNH or standard for accurate weapons delivery?
  15. As per topic title. Have only tested in F-18, but assume it happens for all a/c.
  16. +1. It would be very handy if the entire (or the last x number of messages) "radio history" could be duplicated to the kneeboard, and while we're at it, duplicate the briefing information as well. i often find it necessary to reference this information in-mission, and it would be much easier and less immersion-breaking to get it from the kneeboard than having to ESC in and out and use the mouse in the main menu.
  17. Hi. Thanks for replying. A bit silly of me to have posted in the bugs forum, should've gone for the main forum instead. Sorry. The post was meant more as a first impression / general feeling of this doesn't seem to be working very well, is it being worked on, what do others think?
  18. Thanks for the reply. It's not that I have anything against co-op multiplayer. It's just that I'd want to do it properly, and I simply don't have the time to dedicate to the commitment required for this.
  19. Thanks, yes, I did know this, but I had two issues with it: 1. Having to request control, going back and forth to George, and trim / collective positions getting out of sync. Cumbersome. 2. In the name of realism, the helo isn't usually flown in this way with cpg and pilot handing each other control over and over through a mission. I play single player only and my ideal would be to fly the ah64d as I did the ka50, trying to manage everything. Obvs with 2-seat helo this is not realistic, but imho "cheats" should exist to help make this as viable as possible. Anyway, after a long session last night, I am stumbling my way to a system that works for me: don't use George at all, at least not as a pilot, turn off the option to hand control to George automatically, and fly the helo mostly from the CPG seat. Also I only just updated yesterday and having the ability to use the AP to hold a hover is extremely helpful, this will only improve as more AP modes are implemented. Since it seems that there is considerable improvement to George as AI CPG coming, and 2 above is in practice a non-issue, the concerns expressed in my post above are already starting to melt away. Does anyone know if it's possible (in the CPG seat) to display flight symbology only on the IHADSS whilst at the same time operating the TADS on the TDU? If not, this is the sort of "assist" that would make the single-player experience a bit more workable.
  20. Having a keybind that is a substitute for what would irl be the pushing of a few buttons in sequence is not altering the functionality of the avionics. Having an option for auto to be the default would be. But so what? It's a game. I do take your point, but I'm sure it's much easier IRL to push the physical buttons, than having to peck at them with a mouse cursor (even with VR). An assist is justified.
  21. I expect to be flamed for requesting this, but can I really be the only person who is getting a little bit irked at having to do this (WEP, B6, A, ENTER, FAB) over and over in each mission? Or just an option to have auto ranging set as the default? *Ducks for cover*
  22. To try and practise this I've set up some targets around 5km from a ridge. I will be in the pilot's seat througout. I'd like to arrive behind the ridge, pop up, get George to scan for targets, select a target, drop back behind the ridge, launch the hellfire, then pop up at the last moment to lase the target, thereby minimising my exposure. Firstly, have I just misunderstood; is this even a use case for LOAL? So, anyway, CP/G George is setup for LOAL HI, I arrive at the ridge, pop up, get George to scan for targets and select one from the list, I then drop back behind the ridge. When I give George consent to fire, he confirms he's engaging but does not fire. Very well, onto plan B, I pop up and ask him to fire, which he does, and drop down behind the ridge with the intention to pop back up, hopefully he'll reacquire the target and the missile will guide. Nope, when I drop behind the ridge, he says something like "laser off" or "laser lost", and does not reacquire the target once I'm hovering above the ridge again. So it seems that for this to work George needs to be lasing the target continuously from before launch all the way through to hitting the target... aka LOBL?! Am I doing something wrong? Am I just being my usual thick self? Should this even work at all? Is it something that is still to be implemented by the devs? I did check out this: but, 1. I'm getting somewhat lost following this, why does the pilot have to even do anything with weapons, waypoints, acq? And if that is the sort of rigmarole you have to go through then I think I'll pass. 2. He seems to need lase throughtout engagement, so what is the point of LOAL? My apologies to the poster if this sounds harsh or ungrateful, especially if I've misunderstood, on the contrary many thanks for posting that video and the effort put in to do so. It's just that it's all going over my head. Grateful for any replies.
  23. Thanks for mentioning all of that. I will give those a go and persevere. It was taking me around 2hrs (no s**t) just to clear the targets around WP1 in Gauntlet. Time to try some other missions
  24. I have randomly and ocassionally seen a sudden drop to 17 fps which makes the sim unplayable. I have been able to recover by switching out to Oculus Home and back. I have seen nothing obvious that could've been causing the issue; possible hunch / long shot: maybe happens when another aircraft (e.g. wingman) is near and comes into view and tips the system over. I include the task manager screens for my spec, NOT an instance of when the issue is happening, although when it did happen I don't think it was any different - didn't screenshot it at the time - sorry. When it happens again I will update. I usually get an acceptable and playable 36 fps which is about as much as I can hope for with my setup, and is what I was seeing when I took the screenshots. I am running native Oculus, non-Steam version. Oculus Quest 2. Caucasus theatre. (Marianas is unplayable on my system with the F-18. Haven't even tried that theatre with the apache.) EDIT UPDATE: as suggsted here I have tried Medium textures instead. Problem hasn't ocurred since I did. VRAM usage is noticably lower. As can be seen in the scrrenshot, on high tex it's almost up to limit. Not so with medium. I was holding off as I was expecting the sim to look a lot worse, but, tbh, I haven't noticed any difference.
  25. To learn the apache I have been using a version of the ka-50 mission "gauntlet" that I have modified by switching sides and hardware around, so that I can fly it with the ah-64d. I use this mission because I was quite familiar with it when using the ka-50 many moons ago. My recollection is that the AI back then used to be pretty helpful in completing the mission. Now, sure, they follow me around, but they seem to be very ineffective in engaging targets, and seem to blunder in anyway when I ask them to hold position at a distance. I agree entirely with corbu1 that they should hover rather than orbit. The comms menus seem identical to the ka-50 ones, which may be as it should be, and the wingman voices have Russian accents, although this may be due to my mission editing (lack of) capabilities. I tried getting back iinto the ka-50 about a year ago, and gave up almost immediately, mostly because I found the AI wingmen to be very poor. I have the impression that the helo AI wingmen for the apache are just the same. I'm interested to hear that you find them to be adequate. I might have rushed to judgement and will try to test more thoroughly, but my impression so far is that a lot of work is required. I still remain interested to hear what the official position on the wingman AI for the apache is. Is it considered to be working correcly and staying mostly as is? Or does a lot or work remain to done on it?
