reported P-51 engine does not quit when overheated
grafspee replied to amazingme's topic in Bugs and Problems
Manual do not put any speed restriction on engine, only for air frame. Remember that p51 was tested at 75/3000 with no cooling system modification and cooling was sufficient and climb test was done at 170mph so this iteration of cooling is way better, before there was no way to climb at military power at this speed or in some caces 46/2700 was still too much to hold safe temps. -

Confusing description about MBG emergency mode handle in manual
grafspee replied to dcn's topic in DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Dora
In MGB emergency mode you can operate engine at higher ATA but you are limited to 1.55 and 2700 rpm what is confusing here i don't know. Max power isn't available no longer because engine control unit is turned off. MGB mode allow you to use higher ATA for low rpm range for example if you want to pull a little more ATA when cruising at low rpm. I haven't tested it but if you can do 1.55 ata at 2700rpm at emergency mode it is a lot more what you have in automatic mode. -

I am so happy too, i can wide open this bird for take off with no worries about cooking engine, now every thing feels right and logic, cooler shutter opening speed match the temp changes, before those shutter were miles behind. -

Apparently engines dies, but you need to wait much longer then it was before. -

Thing that you cant kill your engine due to coolant and oil temp being above limits was reported not whole thing introduced in update -
Open beta and it will stay that way for some time, it needs refining as every new thing in dcs.
-
I think that was a case before new cooling system introduction. It is very first release so this new cooling is in beta stage, probably when cooling will be complete this feature will be here.

reported P-51 engine does not quit when overheated
grafspee replied to amazingme's topic in Bugs and Problems
@Andy1966Yes you can stress P-51 and it won't fail immediately after you exceed temp limits You can easily take off at mil power w/o warring about blowing engine. You can climb at mil power w/o blowing engine too when you get speed below 250 -
[BUG] P-51D Prop Does Not Feather When The Engine Stops.
grafspee replied to Bowie's topic in Bugs and Problems
@NineLine I think OP was asking why prop does not feather when engine is shut down on the ground, just like it happens in turbo props planes. Even in twin engine Mosquito prop does not feather when engines are shut down. -

[BUG] P-51D Prop Does Not Feather When The Engine Stops.
grafspee replied to Bowie's topic in Bugs and Problems
First thing, P-51's prop does not feather when engine is shut off, it is not turbo prop, it is just old piston engine with hydromatic constant speed prop, and this prop will go to fine pitch if rpm are below governor rpm range and when you shut engine off it will go below minimum governor rpm and pitch will go to full fine no matter what. This was combat plane, constant speed unit was designed to go full fine pitch when got combat damage so plane could be flown as fixed pitch prop, when your engine died you were toasted anyway. Another thing feathering prop is important in 2 or more engines planes, in single engine not so much, if you loose engine you are done anyway. -

Radiator flaps closing despite high coolant temp? When i was last time flying, things worked well. Can you drop track with that issue ? -
or when oil cooler isn't open

There is a company which makes strategy games, they are famous of releasing tons of dlcs, but not a single dlc is required for multiplayer fun, only host is required to own dlcs, every other player can access content with base game only through MP, some ppl may say that this is big loose for company so many ppl will not buy dlcs, is it? I think no, it act as advert i think that this approach amplify dlcs buys. We can say that WW2 DCS MP is very small, but if no one will invest in it, it will remain that way. What about ppl who did buy asset pack, they can not enjoy it in MP because, lots of ppl who don't have this pack can not join their servers, so this limits full experience too, if we look that way. What i would suggest, is to change status of asset pack as a module, because right now situation looks like that, if i don't own DCS F-16 i can not join any server which has this plane in mission. Some how for ED it is ok to shoot down F-16 while you don't own it, but you can not shoot or bomb unit which is part of ww2 asset pack in MP. I don't agree with that all maps should be available in MP, but this asset pack really cut legs of ww2 experience and enjoyment.

I looks like K-4 is on far left side of milky way and P-51 is on far right side of it -

I just said what F10 map is showing, and it is showing ground speed, with wind or not it is ground speed. -

grafspee replied to Bozon's topic in Bugs and Problems
Standard temp is 15 not 20. Speed from F10 map is ground speed. -
I agree here, in case of P-51 or Spitfire with guns mounted on wings you can't get too close, but in case K-4 with cannon and mgs mounted in fuselage, the best case scenario is firing from point blank range, especially with very low muzzle velocity of 30mm.

Can you tell me what kind of plane are you flying, that you have 30 mm and 20 mm onboard ?
-
@Extranajero looks like DCS mosquito has pneumatic trigger for cannons which has delay, and mgs are eletro-pneumatic trigger which has no delay, probably Delay is noticeable for cannons in mosquito this is the only explanation if this is accurate.
