  1. It's really beautiful ... even the music is perfect and epic.. I saw this video already several times. It's a masterpiece and in a single video you can admire the incredible variety of scenarios, lights, shadows, modules, climates... I will save this video in my private collection of the most beautiful videos of all time... :smilewink:
  2. There are no words to describe it .. this is the dream of a lifetime .. Thank you ED Team for this wonderful product and project.
  3. Great news Matt... Excellent job and many thanks to all ED Team  Now... let's go to download & update... :smilewink:
  4. At the end it's really simple and automated.. The new picture of the transition to DCS 2.5 (in the page 1) tell us everything. Even some guys have explained this very well. - DCS 1.5.8 Beta will be updated to DCS 2.5 Beta. This will be done 31/01. This will be the BETA version. - DCS 1.5.8 Release will be updated to DCS 2.5 a week later or few days more. This will be the standard o stable version. - Both will use the data of DCS 2.2.0 to copy files avoiding to download them again. Done this the DCS 2.2.0 can be deleted. - If someone want to use again DCS 1.5.8 this is possible with the 1.5.8 Final version. This last is optional. So we'll have both DCS 2.5 Stable and DCS 2.5 Beta. At this point we have only to fly in the new wonderfull DCS World... and stay tuned for the incoming F/A-18 and Strait Of Hormuz terrain. I think only who change some pieces of PC (SSD - GPU) have to check the right instruction to manage licences of modules.
  5. My writing error .. I mean that now I have DCS World in a standard HD because my current SSD does not have enough space. So, since DCS World is my favorite "world", I will get a very fast SSD M2, so I will get the best out of this wonderful DCS World. :joystick: You have been very precious with your information.. thank you very much.. :smilewink:
  6. Option 3... wonderfull.. You have been quick to response as a AGM-88... So for example if I have the global ED folder with inside DCS 1.5.8, DCS 1.5.8. Beta and DCS 2.2.0 Alpha in HD "D" (old HD) I have to use the installer of DCS 2.5 in the new HD (for example "E") and it will create a new ED folder in this new HD with inside the DCS 2.5 at the same time it will copy the data of DCS 2.2.0 to avoid too much download... it's correct? Done this I can delete the old ED folder in HD "D" I imagine..
  7. Better again... so it's even simpler... a transiction to DCS 2.5 well done.. Just one more thing.. I planned to change my SSD HD and have a 512 SSD dedicated to DCS World 2.5 and future versions. Which is the better way to upgrade to 2.5 version and at the same time change the HD? Can You or others tell the right "check list" of procedures to do this simultaneous change? 1) It's better first to update to DCS 2.5 staying in the same HD and than, when finished, move the new DCS 2.5 folder to the new HD 2) or Move the version 1.5.8. and 2.2 to the new HD before and then do the upgrade to the DCS World 2.5?
  8. Yes... this is really much more clear.. with the new picture.. so: - DCS 1.5.8 Beta will become DCS 2.5 Beta and it will be the version for testing new graphics and upgrading... the future developing version. - DCS 1.5.8 Standard will become the DCS 2.5 stabile (Release) and This will be the real DCS World 2.5 - Both (Release and Beta versions) will use the data from the actual DCS 2.2 Alpha to copy modules and terrains into the future DCS 2.5. As soon as it will be done DCS 2.2 will be deleted. (prompted to do this to user?) - DCS 1.5.8 could be even copyed (optional) in another folder just to use the oldest missions or others "oldest files" if an user want to keep these alive... right? In this case we should do this before the 1.5.8 version will be updated to 2.5 I imagine... After this, when finished, we will have a DCS 2.5 (Release) and a DCS 2.5 Beta both with the same level of updating. Always one "stabile world" and a "beta world". I think ED, at the end of the operation, will give us the better solution to manage all modules and at the same time to watch to the evolution of future DCS World. I say thank You and great job to all ED Team for this wonderfull evolution.. Please correct me if I'm wrong...
  9. I think we all should follow the instructions of the transition to DCS 2.5 exactly how the ED Team tell us. In few days we will enter the update sequence. I think it could take us some days or 2 weeks but at the end we will obtain a new wonderfull DCS World. So let us be patient and let us follow instructions. ED Team will guide us step by step to the future of simulation.. :smilewink: We only need a clear check list of step by step to transition.. :book:
  10. This is a very good news... We are cleared to take off to DCS 2.5... Go... Go... Go... :pilotfly:
  11. in theory it’s a good idea and I’de like to have a paper manual.. surely for this wonderfull DCS Module. However it depend on money required and from the time of the release. For example I’ve just bought F/A-18 but we know that at the very first period we will not have A/G Radar. This is not a problem for a PDF manual but it could be for a paper manual. What could happens if I buy a paper manual without A/G Radar and after a period this will be avalible? With a pdf one ED can update the file.. with the paper one how can solve? A ring paper manual? :book:
  12. What a plane the F-16... one day perhaps even in DCS World with a dedicated module and a clickable cockpit.. sometimes dreams become reality.. :v:
  13. I think the F/A-18 is the perfect choice for ED and Belsimtek. All planned aircrafts are really beautifull and if the name of them are F-14, F-4, Mi-24 Hind just to say some of these, I think I'll buy them all becouse these are the history of the aviation. Surely the F-16 and AH-64 Longbow I hope one day will be part of this wonderfull DCS World. So the F/A-18 is the PERFECT aircraft for the new DCS World. With the incoming DCS 2.5 we will have one of the 4th generation most beautyfull airplanes. It can fly both day and night mission, A/A and A/G mission, it will have a real A/G Radar and many other sensors (according to ED message) and can fly with every weather conditions. When the A/G Radar will be developed the Know-How will be ready (adjusting it) even for example for other aircrafts such as F-15 E Strike Eagle or Tornado. If we can dream... we should do it at the top level.. so imagine a mission where some F/A-18 take off from an aircraft-carrier, some AV-8B do the same from another ship. Some A-10 and M-2000 fly from a land air base. Some Helicopters from an advanced air base... all inside the same mission... with some MIGs and Sukhoi.. and with the Strait Of Hormuz we will have even this opportunity.. so for me F/A-18 is the perfect plane.. the starting of a new DCS era. Last thing... even all FC3 Aircraft are simply wonderfull. So I hope one day they could have the option of both simple and complex simulation mode with a clickable cockpit. :smilewink: I think we are entering in a very good period for combact flight simulations and for those who love DCS World just like me.. :pilotfly:
  14. Yes, I agree with you.. 3 external tanks are only for NAV transfer. When You are in A/A Mode You need zero, 1 or 2 tanks depending of NM and time you plan to stay in the sky.. 6 MRM and 2 SRM as maximum A/A Power. Obviously in case of problems you can always eject the tanks and have a fighter with much more ACM capability.
  15. Really strange A/A configuration.. a great A/A power. However I think that 2 AIM-9 or other IR missile should always be loaded.. sometimes the enemy is able to keep near You and so You should have all the fire solutions. At the end, correct me if I'm wrong, If an F-18 plan to stay in the air for a long time since it has so much AIM-120 it should load 2 ext tanker. So the powerest real A/A configuration could be: 2 Tanker - 6 AIM-120 (MRM) - 2 AIM-9 (SRM)
  16. The flight is easier in F/A-18 becouse it's more modern than F-14 (that is however another awsome aircraft and absolutely to have). At the same time F/A-18 is a true multirole fighter and so It will take to us some time to learn all sensors and possibilities. But this is not a problem... this is the beauty of flight simulation. The advantage is that with this aircraft we can fly an incredible number of different missions. So.. I hope to see it asap but giving the right time to ED to fix all aspects of this complex produt. Few days and we will have DCS 2.5.. so it's a great time for simulation according to me.
  17. No doubt. Buy without think to much.. if you can obviously.. :smilewink: I've bought it in just 1ms reaction time, as soon as I heard the pre-purchase news. At the end everyone who loves "combact flight simulators" will have this.. It's a new age for simulation and with the DCS 2.5 incoming, a great new beginning. Buying now we obtain 2 great thing: 1) We save 20$ thank's to ED's with the pre-order option. I think it's an honest price if we imagine the hard work that is behind these "flying birds" 2) We support ED in the developement of this World, not only the wonderfull F/A-18C. So, if You can, buy without thinking too much.. and let's, all us, wait for the "Matt magic words" F/A-18C OUT NOW...
:smilewink:
  19. As soon as I have read abought the pre-purchase of this "flying dream" I decided in the time of 1ms to buy the module. I've got a lot of respect for money but even more respect for people... expecially for those people who work hard for so many time to create this level of simulation. So thank You ED Team.. go ahead to the objective.. release the new DCS 2.5 and work asap for F/A-18 release date...

    2.5 Size?

I own all modules and DCS World with some campains and no extra MODS. In the 2.2.0 we have 2 Terrains, Nevada and Normandy 1944. This one require almost 85GB. When we will go to 2.5 we have to consider even Caucasus Terrain. So with DCS 2.5 complete I imagine to be at 100GB. But "ASAP" it will arrive the wonderfull F/A-18 and the Strait Of Hormuz Terrain. So easily We will arrive to 120 / 130 GB. Thinking even to other future modules absolutely to have such as F-14, F-4, Mi-24 Hind and so on I think we all should reserve a quick SSD HD of 256GB to be sure. I'll do this way for myself.
  21. I even ask to RAZBAM, since their products are really wonderfull, to fix better the turning knobs. It's just a suggestion naturally. I prefer to move this controls with the mouse wheel for it's much more realistic than click and move the mouse up to obtain the effect. So we can stay in the knobs as the real pilot do during the settings. To do this, while in the Mirage the effect of the mouse wheel is sensible in AV-8B it takes too much turns to obtain the effect. Think to how much turns are necessari for example for the lighting knobs. If it's possible I think it should be better to obtain the effect staying in the knobs and with few moves set the right parameters with the mouse wheel. Try the difference from Mirage and Harrier to to better understand this. However are both models absolutely to buy... ;-)
  22. I love the realism in flight simulations and so I agree with you. I think that all DCS World is the best option in the Combact Flight Simulators. Now I think that we could find a solution with a simply compromise. That is... when we buy a module (I own both Mirage and Harrier) we shoult find inside a FREE FLIGHT mission just to take a look at the simulator since we can't wait for study of manual for the very first minutes.. I know virtual pilots want to fly as soon as possible.. ;-). So in this case (FREE FLIGHT MISSION) we can have an aircraft powered in and in taxy or in the parking area. All other mission should start from a COLD situation of the aircraft. All knobs and switches at the OFF position. The real satisfation is to understand how an airplane does work. In this case I imagine to have my knob & switches non completely in OFF position during my last landing. So I have to do a first check, a pre-flight check to put all these in OFF positions before starting my COLD START procedure.
  23. Same problem... and in the Free Flight on Nevada 2.2 a message tells "Free Flight of F-!8... " and so on... I hope it's a good news for the F/A-18 Module... I hope it's "taking off" in the wonderfull DCS World...
