  1. That was the one benefit of my Alienware R10, heated the room up in no time!
  2. I know what you mean, especially in the UK. Energy bills are now £2500 a year (up from £800 last year), the average mortgage has just gone up by £450 a month (you gotta love the Tories ) And still a £2k gpu sells out in 1 hour. Its either low stock or scalpers right? Or there are a lot more DCS players in the uk than I thought.
  3. OCUK sold out in 1 hour, the chap said. I saw them on there at 14:40. But by the time the chancellor of the exchequer (aka my wife) got back they had sold out I don’t mind that we can’t preorder, but I do wish they’d at least put the prices on there instead of just “coming soon”. Makes it hard to plan ahead.
  4. Just got off the phone to OCUK, my new PC got damaged in transit thanks DPD! The chap recommended the MSI 4090s and is expecting more frequent restocking this time round. He also said the thing is a flipping chunk, (we likened it to a basket ball players shoe) and the cards that take up 3 slots are less likely to sag than those that take up 2 (such as the Asus TUF). But probably not a big deal. I hope he’s right. Thought this might be useful info for someone
  5. Wow, that’s £1500, Nice! Quite why it costs so much more in the UK I do not know. Be thankful your country isn’t run by muppets. Thanks, just gotta hope there are some of the more “affordable” ones left by tonight.
  6. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/pc-components/graphics-cards/nvidia-graphics-cards/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4090 OCUK prices Any of those that should be avoided? Wouldn’t want to buy a crap one just because it’s cheaper.
  7. Hehe I think my wife is wise to these tricks now, should still be fine though. She’s a keeper. Nice! May I ask how much it cost?
  8. I could just about justify £1759, but I bet those ones sell out quick. Though tbh I bet I end up spending £2k. I have been thinking this morning though, as much as I love DCS VR, and I really do, is it worth another very expensive purchase? I can make it look nicer with a new GPU but it can’t improve the gameplay. By this I don’t mean flight models or avionics but more what we use those things for, ie combat. I feel DCS could really do with some improvement in this area (ai ground units to name just one). A dynamic campaign really can’t come soon enough. All that being said, I’ll most likely still buy a 4090 if I can, cause I’m a sucker for nicer visuals.
  9. Thank you Dangerzone. I’ve had a quick look at that thread, looks complicated. I really don’t have the free time to learn scripting, but maybe I can find something that I can add to without too much prior knowledge. I think my best bet is something where I can a random group to spawn in a random zone. Time to get searching. Anyhoo, thanks
  10. I’m making a little training mission where I can spawn one of multiple groups. I have all groups on late activation and was wondering if performance will suffer the more groups I add even if they are only activated one at a time via triggers? In this case the F10 menu. If it does, is there a better way to do it? thanks.
  11. I’m fine for power (phew) but don’t know about the connector (uh oh). Though if there gonna be £2k+ I guess I might as well stop thinking about it all together. I’m not crying, I’ve just got something in my eye
  12. £2k!? Owch. If so that’s hard for me to justify. I think £1700 is about as much as I’d be prepared to spend without feeling like a bit of a twerp. Why would one need a new psu? Power required or is it a connector issue? I did the same thing
  13. Anyone got any guesses on how much a 4090 is going to cost in the UK? Our government seems determined to make everything as expensive as possible by wrecking our currency for some reason, twats. Im assuming that whatever prices we hear, we are likely to pay more, is this accurate?
  14. My post got merged, I’d posted in the hornet forum.
  15. So I saw a thread on Reddit this morning asking if we’ll ever get a super hornet. So what? I hear you cry, that gets asked every other week. Well as I scrolled down the page I found @NineLine’s response: “You just never know…” That is Not a no! To quote George from Blackadder goes forth, Permission to shout Bravo at an annoyingly loud volume, sir?
  16. Balls of steel! I’m sure we’ve all seen that hind getting a stinger (?) in the face. Poor blokes. They shouldn’t be there but still, uncomfortable viewing.
  17. This is very good news. How long after Nvidia release there version (FE, right?) do the 3rd party manufacturers release there’s?
  18. Gold dust! Thank you @TBone for your post. I’m just properly starting out in the AH64 having had it in the hanger since launch. I’ve always found an abundance of explanations on how to use systems (for any module) but very little on actual tactics. (Especially in the fast jets, I have the feeling they like to keep that stuff hush hush.) So your post is greatly appreciated. Reading books about Apaches in Afghanistan, it’s all seems to be flying high. This makes sense for that situation (not much AA) but did leave me wondering how useful attack helicopters would be on a modern battlefield such as Ukraine. This clears all that up for me, though I get the feeling it would still be a very dangerous line of work. Thanks again
  19. I haven’t tried the Apache in a Liberation campaign yet, but I have a hard time getting the ai or wingman in any aircraft to do anything useful now. Didn’t use to be this way, I wonder what changed? It’s kind of put me off Liberation, which is a real shame.
  20. Thanks @Art-J I’ve just rolled back to the previous version and it’s working again. Not sure how the update broke it though, think I’ll give this update a miss.
  21. I’m having this problem since downloading the latest update. All of a sudden alt enter no longer works. Did anyone find a solution?
  22. I think they ran out of battery, I watched one in F6 view and it looked like it was gonna hit right up until the very last second. Then, just as I was about to shout “Yes! Have that pesky AWACS!” It nosed up and missed. I’m assuming the nose going up was when the battery ran out. This one was something like 50 miles away, me high and fast and awacs at 35k (obvs). It wasn’t a super long shot, which is why I suspected it got a bit confused with tracking and wasted more time than it needed to in getting there.
  23. This makes a lot of sense. The time frame I have been setting on Liberation is 1995, with Russian forces from the 90s in an attempt to make my adversaries realistic for what a Tomcat could deal with. But all I’m comping up against is Mig 29Ss with fox 3s, hence my question. Seems like it’s DCS shinanigins, much like the ai’s super human defensive abilities. It is a tricky balance trying to set the campaign up so you aren’t either totally dominating or getting your arse handed to you. I did find the AWACS thing funny though, there was me assuming a slow moving target like that would be easy prey. Turns out orbiting a waypoint seems to be a good way to defend against an aim 54 (I was high and fast by the way). Is the missile correcting multiple times through its flight and therefore be losing energy?
  24. Can I ask where the Mig 29S, or other redfor planes with fox 3s would fit in your explanation (which I enjoyed and makes perfect sense) please? What I end up feeling is too much of an advantage against non fox 3 aircraft, and too much of a disadvantage against those that do have fox 3s. (All redfor btw) Is there a happy middle ground, or is that just the way it is? Quick addition edit: Though the Aim 54 is long range, in actuality against any fighter it isn’t really is it? I can’t hit a fighter that’s going to defend at anything over 40 miles. But that may just be me. In fact I couldn’t hit an orbiting awacs at over 40 miles, the orbit of the awacs seemed to confuse the missile.
