AMD RX 6900 XT Extreme Edition vs. RTX 3090?
GPatricks replied to GPatricks's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Everything I read (Benchmarks) shower the 6900XT was on par with the RTX 3080ti and about 10% slower than the RTX 3090, but the main reason I went with the Nvidia was compatibility with all the sims\games I have. In IL2 some people get a lot of strange graphic anomalies with the AMD cards they don't get with the RTX cards. This may be due to their settings, overclocking, or something else they are doing incorrectly but I like to keep things simple.. -
AMD RX 6900 XT Extreme Edition vs. RTX 3090?
GPatricks replied to GPatricks's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yes, the prices are insane (+€3000) in some places but I was able to only pay a "crazy" amount (€1700+VAT) for mine. -
I think its great to have multiple solutions, and thank you for posting that Gremlin setup post! You may have missed his follow up post (I did).. "I think I have found part of the problem with TARJET by chance. The problems have been solved, or so I think, by directly connecting the Hotas, to the USB connectors on the motherboard. Until now I had them connected through a USB HUB"
-
If you have a Nvidia RTX card you simply set it as surround, could not be easier. I assume you are on something else?

OMG, if you just set your throttle up to run the TARGET DX1-128 enable script that makes every Warthog throttle switch\hat\button position a DX# press you can simply go into the DCS Settings panel and hit the switch for EVERY function you want!
-
I read horror story after horror story about TARGET, bricked devices, etc. I made sure my gear had the latest BIOS and tried a pre-written (I modified two lines for my use) script and it has worked flawlessly. I run it (DX1-128) for DCS and IL2, turn it off and all is well for BMS (only sees up to DX32).. 0 issues. Listen to Speed-of-heat, he knows what he is talking about!
-
I'm guessing as I don't fly the F18 but can you use the brake on the side you are trying to turn towards to accentuate the turn, as we do with other planes with individual brakes? Basically it pivots around the braking wheel.
-
I didn't know TM even made Warthog Pedals.. are you talking about TPR pedals? Do you see full travel in the DCS Axis tune screen for your plane (assume F18)?
-
For DCS simply run the DX128 profile (effects throttle only) and program for each plane in DCS Settings, easy as pie and works 100% of the time. If you want to get crazy with special functions, you better learn how to write in TARGET's code..

Peirof - where what is explained? Our setups are quite different.. Your monitor has 1 HDMI and 2 USB plugs and all three are required? Since Windows sees your monitor (you should be able to place\drag it's location in relation to your main monitor in "Display Settings") then Helios will see it also. There is no good Helios manual, I suggest you go here to download it and learn what you can.
-
No, for the 3 main monitors all are plugged into the 3090 via DisplayPort cables and combined with Nvidia Surround. The two 8" Liliputs are USB. I actually haven't looked a FR in DCS since installing the 3090, but I know in IL2 they range from 70 (HEAVY action) -140 with every graphics option on Ultra or Max..
-
Well, as they seem to be HDMI I have no idea, you have two open HDMI ports?
-
Lilliput 869GL-80NP/C/T - 8" HDMI touchscreen monitor is what I have, but if using the TM MFDs I would not use touchscreen...
-
IMO 8" works better as it can hold the MFD bezels and leaves room for gauges, but depends on how you will use it..
-
1st - Yes, but an 8" (Lilliput for example) does not connect to your graphics card, it connects via USB. 2nd - USB for small touchscreens, graphics card for monitors 3rd - You can place whatever you want to be rendered wherever you want (I use Helios), 4th - With Helios you can do multiple "layers" of screens and switch them at will 5th - I would start here.. I found the "touch" part of the Lilliput touchscreens unreliable so I went with Thrustmaster MFD bezels, MUCH better. You should also look into VoiceAttack to use voice commands while flying, perfect for radio comms but you can do anything with them.. MY current setup (that isn't DCS on screen, sorry for the mess.. ..

AMD RX 6900 XT Extreme Edition vs. RTX 3090?
GPatricks replied to GPatricks's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I guess I would ask €400 plus shipping, but I'm not selling it for a few weeks, until I know the 3090 doesn't cook.. -
AMD RX 6900 XT Extreme Edition vs. RTX 3090?
GPatricks replied to GPatricks's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
LOL, that was a startup sheet for the 109 I posted to another guy earlier, devil of a time getting it out of this post!! If you were in EU I would sell you my RTX 2080! Been a GREAT card, i'm just a power junkie... -
Engine startup - what am I doing wrong?

I've been on the Nvidia wagon for many years but did use an AMD GPU many years back without issues. As the world has gone insane and you can't buy a 3090 for under €2500 i'm leaning toward a 6900 XT Extreme (self-contained water cooling) for about €800 less and available. Are there any reasons NOT to move to an AMD GPU? All test I have seen show it withing 10% of the 3090 and much faster than my current 2080.. Thank you for any input! EDIT: I think Alexa was listening again, as soon as I wrote this I got a one day 25% off flyer for a Zotac Gaming GeForce RTX 3090 Trinity OC 24GB GDDR6X and pulled the trigger immediately. Couple hundred € more than the 6900 XT but I can live with that... be here in 2 days.
-
Yes, like this. No structural or aesthetic reason for it at all.. Your pricing is excellent, shipping to EU would add quite a bit bewteen VAT, Import, etc..

Nice job! Any idea on a price? To eliminate having to flex around the throttles you can delete the section to the left of the throttles (above the flaps to just below the label). It performs no function and makes mounting it much easier. Your location, as shipping will play a big part..

See if the profiles you are looking for are here, you can always just pick the MFD's and gauges you want to use.. -

Take a look at Helios -
Not nearly as demanding as a DCS 109 takeoff, and its all left rudder input.... but it does look like its full right stick but hard to see...
