  1. OK, it happened again this time when I dropped CBU-99. Apparently at random when I drop, my aircraft gets transformed into an AI aircraft. I have no control and someone or something flies me instead. I am in Operation Clearfield right now and watching my now AI plane being flown back to the carrier on its own after dropping the CBU. So, no one has any ideas what's going on? ED are you seeing this? v6, boNes

  3. OK, I have now found that this happens at random not just with JSOW but also with HARM and GBU. In the latest case when I dropped GBU, it kicked me out into external view and I couldn't get back in as before. I had no control of my aircraft--instead it seemed as if someone had remote control of it. It was maneuvering, opening the airbrake, even popped flares and chaff and climbed. It was as if my aircraft suddenly became AI controlled. On the F10 map I was not even shown. Does anyone know what is going on? Is ti something written into the mission? It was Operation Clearfield on an MP server. v6, boNes
  4. I have it keybound to my HOTAS. It has always worked before. in fact it worked just a few hours before it stopped working, and it worked afterwards when I set a fake target only 10 miles away and fired on it. v6, boNes
  5. Weapon release is st to right shift space. It has been set this way for years and not changed and always worked until now. v6, boNes
  6. Ok tried this but saw that nothing was keybound to any of those combos and doing it in game did not reproduce the results either. Could it just be a multiplayer thing? when i did MP with it earlier that day with no problems, there was only one other guy on the server. But later that night on the mission there were 4 or more people on. Could have confused DCS or something? v6, boNes
  7. Karon, I looked at your website and it picked my fancy. I think i'll have a harder look at it when I get more time. as for hitting reset for the knobs, when you do that, do the knobs snap back to the zero position? Like some kind of solenoid kicks in? v6, boNes
  8. F1 was still set to cockpit view
  9. LAtely when I hit LSO view I see the view from the correct angle but it is in color and not grainy B&W camera-looking like it used to be. Did something get changed? v6, boNes
  10. And the F1 key is operational. It as registering key presses just not in DCS. v6, boNes
  11. I actually that afternoon played the mission and it was fine. I came back to it and it started doing it...without me doing anything different. v6, boNes
  12. I'll check but I don't know why there is because I never changed or messed around with any of the views or control settings. EVen if it did go to that view, why can't I get back into the cockpit? v6, boNes
  13. Can't find the updater in the Steam edition, do you know where to look if it is even available? v6, boNes
  14. I'm running Steam version. It just passed file integrity. I'll see about the repair if it's something I can do in the Steam version. v6, boNes
  15. No not dead. I can still steer the aircraft externally, but that's it. Looking at the TacView, it shows me launch the JSOWs (though TacView says I launched AGM-88) and there are no threats around me. I never got hit by anything. This is in MP BTW v6, boNes
  16. I have been experiencing a very frustrating issue. I was flying a mission MP with friends and I have JSOW-A and JSOW-C loaded up and when I get in range, as soon as I pickle I get kicked out to external view outside my aircraft and the F1 key goes dead so I can't get back in. With no way to control the aircraft and get back in the cockpit, my mission is useless and it's really frustrating when you go through the trouble of programming things in and fly all that way there just to have that happen. Anyone else experience this? I tried rebooting and it still did it. I also tried as a test setting a target coordinate that was only 10 miles away. The JSOWs launched then without be getting kicked out. So i have no idea what is going on. v6, boNes
  17. Thanks. I'm not necessarily looking for help for myself but rather am trying to get a thread going as a "forum in the forum" about RIO techniques where everyone can share their techniques and tricks for the betterment of others. I've been flying simulated F-14s since the Fleet Defender days of 1995 so I'm aware of many of these things but I want to hone them, especially since this is a "new" platform/sim. I know there is a manual and I check them but let's be honest. We're not career naval aviators where we have all the time to study up on the manuals because that is part of our job. I've delved into them as much as I can and actually prefer reading manuals more than anything else, but sometimes you just don't have the time to study the more poignant things and especially retain them. Besides, the Heatblur manual is not exactly the best write in the world. It's primarily a "bill of materials" of the F-14's controls and not an OPERATIONS manual. IMHO I find that Chuck's guides are more of an actual procedural operations manual. So sometimes it's easier and quicker to just ask the question directly, especially if you encounter it recently and want to find out while it's fresh in your head. The knob is a good example. I can clearly see that there is a tick mark for centering the scan. But how do I know I am actually centered on it? The mouse isn't exactly a surgical scalpel and there is no physical feedback to feel if there is a click confirming you are centered. I doubt that's in the manual. So the question in this kind of forum is not so much how do you center it as much as what do YOU do to center it or know for yourself that it's centered? That is my point of my starting this discussion----what are YOUR techniques, not necessarily the MANUAL's. But I do thank you all for your input and links. And I praise your OfficeLibre skills! Thanks! v6, boNes
  18. Thanks all and thanks for the model Karon! Well, that is also what I hope to spark with this thread. Let's throw our heads and tips and tricks in and see what we all come up with! My main issue right now is figuring out how the elevation control know works, as well as the HCU fine tuner, and how to know what the best setting is for them. This I think may be explained by your model, but I want to hear more. It being a knob, it is also often hard to figure out if I have it zeroed out or not. Also when I have Phoenix in flight in TWS, how do I know that I am keeping the scan on the centroid of the target area since there is no TWS-A yet. v6, boNes
  19. So I’ve been spending more time in the RIO seat with a human pilot and am decent in it but I don’t feel efficient. So what are your usual effective techniques? For instance, how do you usually set your elevation with the knob, then fine tune with the stick? How do you know where to set it initially? What numbers do you usually go for? When you set up TWS, how do you keep your centroids constant? Any thoughts or tricks on this or anything else would be appreciated. Just want to hone my skills. Thanks! v6, boNes
  20. Actually yes I agree. I found your post searching for ways to make Jester change the acan azimuth in RWS. I really need him to do this v6, boNes
  21. did the Matrix find us yesterday? v6, boNes
  22. It's supposed to be free trial since March 28 and still it is not free on Steam. The JF-17 was in free trial on time, why not the Harrier? The trial ends today, that's not enough time to check it out even if they did put it on Steam! v6, boNes
  23. It's supposed to be free trial since March 28 and still it is not free on Steam. The JF-17 was in free trial on time, why not the Harrier? v6, boNes
  24. Several times at random I get a CTD just as I'm about to touch down. Track attached: v6, boNes LastMissionTrack.trk
  25. AFAIK this bug is fixed on my end as well, thanks!!! v6, boNes
