  1. OK, I give. I've looked all over for the Syria map on Steam and can't find it. I hear it may drop tomorrow and if there is a pre-order sale I don't want to miss it. Does anyone know how I go about finding/getting it on Steam? v6, boNes
  2. I was not in AG mode--perhaps that was it. Will try again and check to be sure, thanks! v6, boNes
  3. Thanks but master arm was on and I couldn't even get a "Trigger" option to show up on the MFD because to get that LTD/R has to be in the arm position, and it won't stay there. v6, boNes
  4. Is it not possible to use the LTD/R to sday buddy lase for someone if you yourself are not carrying laser weapons? Everytime I throw the switch, the solenoid throws it back off so I can't lase. I'm not carrying any laser weapons, just the LITENING. Thanks. v6, boNes
  5. Yup, got it! Thanks guys! So, IRL, they really don't punch in the code via the UFC or SMS page (A-10 and F/A-18?) What about the data cartridge? Is it in it? v6, boNes
  6. Yeah they have case II and IIIin the instant action missions for the Tomcat v6, boNes
  7. Ok, so the Tomcat can buddy lase for others, but can others bUddy lase for the Tomcat? I see where I can input a code into the LANTIRN, but that is for the LANTIRN laser...where do you input a code for the bomb itself? Does the LANTIRN feed the code to the bomb? If so, then if someone is buddy lasing for you, do you put the code he is using into your LANTIRN and the bomb is good to go? It didn’t IT didn’t seem to work when we tried it last night. Plus in the Hornet you have to put the code into the bomb, cnot just the LITENING, so how do you put the code into the bomb (NOT INTO LANTIRN)in the Tomcat ? v6, boNes
  8. I already figured out the cause of the issue and solution, see my previous post. Your procedure is correct, and is what I do. But you know what? Even though I followed your posted procedure, I would still not get signal charlie, nor would you. You too would be surprised to get missed calls even though you performed the correct join. Why? Because in the above posted procedure, it assumes that you have called signal inbound, then see you at 10. The stock mission that was installed with the F-14 module (non-Supercarrier) that I was flying spawns you in the air less than 10 miles away, so why would anyone expect that they would have to call inbound first when that is supposed to happen as much as 50 miles out? I was spawned at 10 miles, so I went straight to calling see you at 10. How is anyone to know that you still have to call inbound when you are already 10 miles away? It is easy for someone to just assume that since you are spawned so close to the carrier, that the inbound call is not needed/already understood by the AI as being done. Further, when I called see you at 10, Marshall responded--which led me to believe that comms were established AND working per the DCS logic. It was when I got to 3 miles and no signal charlie call that I suspected that something was wrong. And to prove it out, I tried the mission again--this time calling inbound even though I was spawned a good 40 miles closer to where I would've called inbound, got a response, then called see you at 10, got a response, then got a signal charlie at 3 miles. To prove it further, I did the inbound call then the see you at 10 call immediately afterwards. Got both responses AND signal charlie at 3 miles. So it is all dependent on fulfilling the comms logic for landing on the carrier, and not so much the procedure, that triggers the proper comms response, including signal charlie. v6, boNes PS Since someone else mentioned it, I also found in testing that it doesn't matter if you are overhead the carrier or off to the starboard side--you still will get signal charlie if you had called inbound and see you at 10 at first.
  9. No it works fine, it just seems to care in what sequence you do things that's all. I tried calling inbound right away, waiting for her to finish then calling see you at 10. At 3 miles I got signal charlie. Tried it again, this time calling inbound then immediately calling see you at 10 before she even finished. When I got to 3 miles I got signal charlie. Call see you at 10 without inbound call, at 3 miles, no signal charlie. Seems sequence is important non-Supercarrier and Supercarrier alike. v6, boNes
  10. I figured it out. For some reason on some missions, Jester's TACAN is set to A/A rather than T/R and on other missions it is fine at T/R. I don't know anything about mission editing, but is there something in the editor that allows the writer to set the TACAN settings? Or is this just random. Anyway, that was why it appeared he would tune TACAN but nothing would happen. v6, boNes
  11. I sure did! Thanks! v6, boNes
  12. No I was using the stock Caucuses mission that comes with the F-14 and Hornet. Instant Action, those ones v6, boNes
  13. Ok I tried it again. I went on ICS and asked jester to “tacan tune X-ray 0 1 8.” The subtitle showed the command was accepted and the knob showed it too. I had tacan set to NFO and the steerpoint set to tacan. But i wasn’t getting a tacan cue in the his or hud. I was in cruise mode and later landing, 18X is Groom Lake...does Area 51 not broadcast a tacan maybe? v6, boNes
  14. Well I figured out what was up. In this stock mission you hot start out at about 8mi from the boat, maybe a little less. So, since I was already inside 10 mi, I called see you at 10. What I found was that if you call inbound first, then immediately call see you at 10...then it works. Looks like it’s a nuance of a hot start mission too close to the carrier. Thanks all! v6, boNes
  15. Well what I was getting at was that I was in the Marshall, so was at 250 it’s at angels 2. It used to be when I did that I’d get signal Charlie...in this mission, before I even got to position 1of the post. v6, boNes
  16. I'll be sure to tip my server. v6, boNes
  17. I see what you did there...! v6, boNes
  18. So I and others have been complaining about how the AOA indexer is dim, especially when the sun shines right on it. No one at Heatblur seems to hear it...so it seems...so... ..What do you do to be able to see the AOA indexer? I'm tired of not being able to see it no matter what I do. It used to be better before the last update with the horrid cockpit lighting they did, but not by much. I wish it was as bright as the Hornet's, it's really costing me some good approaches. v6, boNes
  19. I am flying at MSL at 250 knots and am approaching from astern, starboard side. This has worked before, and would be a typical Marshall altitude. v6, boNes
  20. It is the case I recovery mission for Caucuses that comes with when you buy the F-14. So no server—it is SP, and yes same mission. Never changed the mission as I don’t do the mission editor at all on these. I tried the Supercarrier stock one (Case I, Caucuses) that comes with the Supercarrier module and same thing. I also tried the Hornet Case I Caucuses that come with Supercarrier as checks...and there were no signal Charlies there either. All of these missions used to do it. v6, boNes
  21. Case I. And yes I followed procedures and altitudes. It9s the same stock mission I flew the same way every time and back then it was working. v6, boNes
  22. Is it that the only difference really with the Stennis when you have SUpercarrier is the deck crew? ie, even though it's Stennis, you still get carrier comms, ie Marshall, LSO and ball on the side of teh screen, tower telling you signal charlie, etc, right? Can a mission be written with simple comms? SOmetimes I notice when I'm flying I get AUTO radio menus or the simple ones even though I've got simple comms turned off. Can the mission override that? v6, boNes
  23. I've been noticing in the last few days that After I call see you at 10 and they tell me to switch tower and my virtual self does and calls them, the last comm I get is roger, BRC and that's it. I don;t get a signal charlie less than 3 miles out even though I am the only aircraft in the pattern. I get an LSO when I call the ball. BNut when I land I get "no proper communication." Anyone having this issue? I never hear them call charlie anymore. I've tried it on Stennis, Roosevelt, Lincoln, PG, Caucuses, nothing works. I checked the freq, it's all tuned, and broadcasting on the correct radio--plus I do get Marshall and LSO answering and calling me. v6, boNes
