  1. Go for it, Normandy would be a good setup for a F-86 campaign, Sabre vs Mig-15 in a new battle of Britain over the channel. Or Dunkirk 2.0. Unfortunately there's not a good enough asset pack to do it properly. You would need some B29's and Tu-4's there's a mod for that. Let me know if you need any help. I did a campaign for F5 that went quite well.
  2. This one has all you need for F-5 https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=230124
  3. I'll add my 2 cents here. I have my DLC control set-up on a rotary. This way i can do small adjustments and correct how much lift i have. Using the AOA indicator and the velocity vector on the HUD allows me to trap 95% of the time. The ones that i miss are due to a poor setup in the approach. Fly the approach at AOA speed and use the DLC to keep the velocity vector on the deck in front of the #4 wire. That's where the nose is going to plant but you still have a lot of plane behind you where the hook is. I adjust my throttle and AOA to maintain the approach with half of DLC deploye, this way i can kill lift or extend if needed. I control the rate of descent using DLC only with minimal engine input and very small stick corrections to keep me centered on the runway. Don't forget that you can always go around and if your approach doesn't look good at 1.5 to 1 miles out there's little chance to save it. Cheers,
  4. You are totally right. I had to work with what DCS has to offer. If DCS would have had a Korea or Vietnam Era asset pack the campaign would have been different. I had to stay within the constraints of the game, and I didn't want to go and add other mods. My intention was to keep this clean and to work just with the assets in the game. This campaign will have a counterpart from the other side of the story. A campaign with Mig-21. When both are done the F-5 one will get a bit of extra love as well. Cheers,
  5. When I put this campaign together I used 3 of my favorite books from a similar era to try to recreate some of the missions and the feel of the campaign. How much I succeeded I don't really know. However in those books. 100 Missions North: A Fighter Pilot's Story of the Vietnam War by Ken Bell, Fighter Pilot: The Memoirs of Legendary Ace Robin Olds and Chickenhawk I couldn't find any reference about TACAN being used to navigate to the target. But i have read a lot of visual terrain references being used in mission planning and navigating to the target. That's the other reason i stayed away from TACAN. Cheers, Sorel
  6. You need to shot down more of the transport carrier choppers. Don't focus on the support MI-8 Cheers, Sorel
  7. AI is a very interesting beast. You have no idea on the amount of swearing and cursing being said towards the AI when i built this thing. :D
  8. The conditions vary from mission to mission. There only constant requirement is that you must land back to your base or to the designated landing airport. And your score has to hit 100 to be able to pass to the new mission. Where are you struggling? Cheers, Sorel
  9. If your timing is right the F4's should be able to help there as well. Use your flight also.
  10. Welcome to DCS and thanks a lot for playing this. I hope you enjoy the campaign so far. You don't have to destroy all the APC's and trucks trying to cross the bridge. You have to take down enough of them that between you and the F-4 engaging with Mav's their numbers get to the point where you have enough mission points to pass to the next one. You probably have to destroy more than 15 ground targets.
  11. The Red Su-24 is the recce plane
  12. Speed under 5 kts and the recce plane must survive.
  13. Nothing more satisfying than placing your bombs right where you want them to be while using a fixed sight.
  14. Your kneeboard gives you headings, distances and altitudes for each WP. your kneeboard gives you a summary of all your WP's. This should be enough to get you where you want to get.
  15. Shameless advertising right here! https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=230124 Go for it. Some say it's fun. Some never talk to me after they try it. :D
  16. Do you have this on your keyboard? These shortcut keys are doubled-up with the uppermost function keys; in addition to media controls on F1-F4, you’ll also find one-touch keyboard controls for the Windows Charms (Search, Share, etc.) from F5-F8, plus a smattering of other handy shortcuts on the other keys. The labels for these are highlighted in blue, making these added functions easier to identify – although unless you’re familiar with what each of these icons actually means, many of them will be meaningless to users. The iconography isn’t my beef with these controls – it’s the implementation that I’ve found utterly infuriating. While most other keyboards provide secondary function controls by requiring the user to press the ‘Fn’ key – usually located somewhere along the bottom row – Microsoft decided not to employ this tried-and-tested method, and omitted an Fn key entirely. So, to access these functions, you instead have to flick a mechanical switch at the top-right of the keyboard, which alternates the keys’ operations between their standard functions and the secondary Windows 8 controls.
  17. Thanks a lot! You rock!!!!
  18. Hey Scotch, Don't give up. Maintain your flight integrity. On this one the AI should take the heat with the MIG-23. When you pop-up give it everything you got and maintain your best climb profile for afterburners and keep the heading on the instructions 090 and not what the E2C is giving you. Going like this, you should spot the condensation trails on your 10 o'clock and you should have enough energy to maneuver to take the bombers down. Don't worry about the MIGs focus on the bombers and ask your flight to cover you. It can be done. Thanks a lot for sticking with it and not throwing your joystick or anything like this. :D
  19. All AIM-9's carried by F-5 are Fire and Pray. the only success I had with them is when shooting in ideal conditions from short distance somewhere under 2 NM and with some rate of closure between the planes and pretty much from 6 o'clock. If you are in a turn fight you should forget about your AIM-9's in F-5. The AIM-9P5 has forward aspect capabilities and it's not bad for head on attacks when the rate of closure is so high than the missile doesn't have to turn too much for the kill. I'm no expert but I spent a lot of time in F-5 in DCS.
  20. Hi guys, Updated mission 4 available here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oZ9IhnkusFXQIZcMU6OuFEHfE5D_VshH/view?usp=sharing I hope this will make it easy. Just copy paste it where the rest of the missions are. Cheers,
  21. Hang on tight. I'll publish an update for that mission sometimes today. Where the mission is score will be calculated different. Cheers,
  22. Interesting, every mission in that campaign is flown at least 20 times. I've never seen the AI wingman taking off in front of the player. Are you using any mods? All the missions were done with vanilla install.no mods at all. Cheers,
  23. Make sure that you use the pilot skills to avoid the target beaming on you. with the Doppler effect of your radar, you may not be able to pick up the target on your radar even when the target is well withing the radar range.
  24. The textures are still available here. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/2859142/ It looks like i was the blind one. :) Cheers,
  25. My bad, the archive should have contained the F-4 skins. They are available for download here. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=123551&page=3 I'll put another archive together later on today. Thanks for pointing it out. Cheers,
