Is it possible to create a mod for fire fighting?
rato65 replied to Beazle's topic in How To Mod for DCS World
cool idea billy. I would love to see this happen. I am just beginning in mods, but from what I learned so far, some things are just animation and can be switched or played after certain constraints, or triggers. however, easy said but for the bucket in the water it could work, if ED enables the play-argument function in trigger actions again. as for the "water bomb" I am sure it could be attached to somewhere below the helo, maybe not exactly at the swinging bucket. the loadout pylons can be used as a connector, and the object you attach can have an offset when being modeled. well, it must not be necessarily a visible bomb, or? just a smoke or a dummy doing the job the bomb would do after releasing it? I never used bombs...I have to admit. Just some thoughts - I do like the idea. -

Change Sling Rope length during flight - Question
rato65 replied to rato65's topic in How To Mod for DCS World
After many evenings trying all sorts of things I am really stuck. The mission editor ropelenth values are set to a default of 15 mtrs/30 ft when using some non-valid values or strings instead values to crash DCS - it is ignored. Speaks for the stability, but does not help in this case. Changing the hook positions seems to be impossible after they are initially loaded, at least I find no way. Next idea was - and still is - to animate the cargo (most often a person on the winch) once hooked up. It is anymated anyway, but I could animate the whole winching process. But I cannot find any method or example to animate an argument on a static ground object such as a cargo - except the windsock for example. But that is controlled by the engine and windspeed/direction. There is the explicit function in mission editor called "play argument", and that lists even the cargo, but doesnt work at all, wit no object I tested. Although animation works itself i.e. on the windsock or in the Modelviewer. It is known in the forum, but nobody seems to care anymore. If I could find any way to start playing an animation argument in a static object I am sure I could make winching happen. So - pleeaasee - if anybody sees this and thinks what a silly guy that he doesnt know - ignore my inefficiency and give me a hint how such animation can be adressed - it would be such a great help. :-)) and thx for anybody following this idea by reading. -
Thanks, Pikey, but why is this function available (under Trigger Actions), is accessible and then has no effect? Since I do not want to control AI by this, just play an animation of a model which I designed and which plays its animation correctly in ModelViewer. I am desperately searching now for days for a method to get this animation played...any help is very much appreciated.

Has there been any solution for this? I have the same problem, same results as BS_Fighter 2013- and now it is 2017.... I cannot find how to play an animation argument on a static object. Any help greatly appreciated.

Change Sling Rope length during flight - Question
rato65 replied to rato65's topic in How To Mod for DCS World
Looks like I would have to know which part of the module actually requests these values at initialization, so I could route this somehow to a command - but that function/part of the module seems not to be accessible with LUA directly, instead it seems to be a part within the dll which is not documented. So for now I do not see how to get further from here... -

Thank you all for your response, keeps me motivated and now i know I have to work myself deeper into LUA and key bindings. -
worked! thx.

Change Sling Rope length during flight - Question
rato65 replied to rato65's topic in How To Mod for DCS World
Can I re-scan the values of HelicopterConst during the flight? I can set the values, but only once. If I could set repeated after changes, it might be possible. But I dont know how to set during the flight...or is it impossible at all? Btw - loading the load with a winch instead of the central hook is really different in flight beahviour. From what I read from SAR chats, it seems to be somewhat realistic. Maybe it was tried before, then I apologize to bring it up again. I just did not find anything in the forum about this topic. -
Hi, does anybody have an idea how one might use a LUA function to change the sling load rope length or the hook position during flight? I managed to attach the rope to a sideway rescue winch, but i do not find a way to "operate" the winch...but it might be due to my lacking understanding of correct LUA coding so far. Any ideas are very welcome. Model is UH-1.

cool! thanks for telling - will try after work today. I was assuming something like this in the end, tried to unload the pack with the external tank, but that did not work. but I did not check the cargo mod.
-
did you find any workaround? I am not able to remove the harpoints in any case now. i did all kinds of loading new mission and new helos, but no way. there seems nobody in the forum have this problem, though...
-
@ berk.lp how did you solve it? I have the same issue with the huey since 1.5.6. - cannot switch off the hardpoints in ME anymore.
-
yes, I know - it worked that way all the time. Now something changed and the uncheck has no effect anymore...but I have no idea what that could be. So if you do not see this it probably has nothing to do with the last update to 1.5.6?

Hi I am new to missions and want to do a "simple" task: switch on a light on a ship model as a trigger. in modelviewer it works, but i cannot get the "play argument" function in the trigger action list to work. I cannot find any documentation for this. Has anybody worked with this function or may have an advise? Thx
-
How can I change an animation argument in a lua script or dirctly in the ME? I searched for the half day but I did not find the solution....its probably a dumb question. I want to switch on lights in a ship model. In the Model viewer I can change i.e. Arg 150 and it does what it should. But I dont know how to script this. The ship itself is ok and works fine in the sim, but I simply get not the clue how to access these animation arguments... Any help is very appreciated...

cool shot. did you do it recently? how did you remove the external weapon stations?
-
-
maybe not clear...the external mounts where the rocket launcher etc are fixed. I think they are called hard points also. Any idea highly welcome.

Hi everybody, I tried to search and did not find any clue - so I start this thread. Since the last update of the 1.5 World I cannot hide the UH-1H weapon extensions any more. The check box in mission editor skin tab has no effect an more. Did anybody find this also? Is there anotherway to hide the extensions as before? They just irritate the view when doing any civil missions. Thx

DCS World User Mods "WHAT IF" SCREENSHOT AND VIDEO THREAD!!!!
rato65 replied to NRG-Vampire's topic in Screenshots and Videos
I discovered myself stuck for 2 hours in front of my 50 inch TV and watch the sun go down in eight balls new mission *modified a little bit*, after landing finally on the Oliver Perry with a Coast Guard Huez.... I think it is time to either go to the doctor or tell ED once again how fantatstic this simulation is! I think I do tha latter... -
you are reight - now I tried the viewer which came with the last update of DCS World 1.5 - now it seems to work... hm. great, but I do not understand it. anyway, thanks very much for the hint! This is a really great forum, btw. I am a very newbee in terms of using it, and I am amazed about the quality of communication here. great!
