  1. Unfortunately most of us are on Intel and that's probably where the issue lies. Not that the 3800 is bad but probably some setting needs to be set that allows DCS full usage. I would post on reddit.hoggit or here with the Ryzen as the subject. I feel for you bro. Hope you get it worked out.
  2. Number 2 is wrong and WIP. If you pull 9G's with stores other than missiles and maybe empty wing tanks, you'll break the stations/pylons for sure. I always thought Selecting Cat 3 limited the amount of onset G's to around 5 but Panther said the real jet will allow you to pull max G regardless of Cat 3 or not. I'll take her word for it.
  3. I'll admit it's a form of Voodoo. Anyway, I mix and match to see the difference.
  4. So it is now modeled correctly?? Awesome!
  5. I’ve seen this behavior several times lately but I’ve attributed it to a mission my wing is flying. At altitudes of around 30K when descending the CAS indicator in the HUD will go to 0 and the jet will start wilding oscillating in pitch to the point of blacking out. I have to hit my brakes to stop it.
  6. Yes, you're correct with the math, you're adding anything over 100% together to get to a total of 168%, 204% or whatever your system can handle. The reason for trying it using two different forms of Super Sampling, IE, Pixel Density/Custom Resolution/SteamVR Application Resolution is each method performs the super sampling in a different way. I have no idea what makes each way different but different hardware/software can respond better or worse depending on how you go about it.
  7. DCS Pixel Density seems to drag down frame rates more than Custom Resolution in SteaVR. However, some people find using Pixel Density instead of Custom Resolution results in a better quality image. So I wouldn’t say that CR is always better than Pixel Density, it varies from system to system. In fact, you can use a combination of the two much like using SteamVR/Application/DCS SS to 138% and CR to 148%. You would instead change the DCS App SS to 100% and then set PD to 1.3. Once again though PD takes more power and can’t be raised as high as DCS App SS.
  8. I didn’t notice any improvement in FPS but I didn’t dip down as much when on the ground. Otherwise I had no ill effect from the edit.
  9. My favorite way of using them is for DEAD strikes. Come in offset about a mile low and fast using terrain for cover or around 50 feet off the water. Pop up to about 4 or 5000 roll over dive down and pickle. Straighten out then dive back down with chaff and flare running like a raped ape. Bravely of course lol. Most times you’ll avoid getting launched on on ingress and the close pop up puts you in the SAM’s notch for just long enough to get the bombs off. This is much tougher if the site is overlapped with manpads though. If we ever get a DTC hopefully we’ll be able to use a pop-up planner. CBU97’s are pretty much all I use. They won’t kill everything though. Things like antennas need 82’s or Snakeyes and troops need 87’s as the sub munitions won’t target them.
  10. Man that sucks! The motion smoothing I use is the one under the Video tab. It's awful for me without it. The motion smoothing/reprojection option in the application DCS tab is like ASW and simply locks frame rates to half of whatever hertz you're using. That one I leave at Global. I simply don't know what else to tell you. Like you I've been tweaking hardware for 25 years and do not understand why nothing works for you. My last two suggestions for you are thus... 1. A couple months ago my index was heating up on the bridge of my nose to around 140 degrees. I went round and round with Valve but they finally took it back and sent another which promptly heated up again. At this point I started looking at other components and that's when I noticed I was having USB errors. I bought my board from a local Best Buy so I decided to just buy another and switch it out and see what happens. FIXED. It had been my board all along. I don't play any other games so unlike you I couldn't tell if the Index worked any better on other games which you have. Therefore you may not be willing to do that. Once I found out it was the board I boxed up my old one, took it back and told them the USB's were bad... lol Instant RMA. I know you've checked out your USB's but it could be something else with the board. 2. I just ran across this thread and am trying these settings currently. I have Windows Game mode turned off already but this is different. So far I've flown on our server and I noticed less frame dips but I'm not giving it five starts yet. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4139901&postcount=1
  11. To you and @Mr. Big "Bigg's" Go into BIOS and turn off Hyperthreading. Not knowing what MB you're using I can only tell you where to look. I have an Asus Rog Strix Z370 E Gamer but most BIOS menus are similar. Reboot into BIOS by holding down or repeatedly pressing DELETE or F2 as it's powering up. Once in you should be able to choose an Advanced Tab at the top, then scroll down till you see CPU Configuration and open it. Look for Hyperthreading and disable it. That's it. Reboot, start DCS and see how it flies..... Turning off Hyperthreading will not effect most games. Unless you're using some type of number crunching program or video processing the only performance hit you'll see is when using synthetic benchmarks which are as the name implies "synthetic". The only benchmark I use is DCS.....
  12. Other than not having a good quick standoff weapon like a Mav or Harm, the recently added systems such as Link16 have made it much more enjoyable. It’s all I fly and flying it is fantastic. One thing you must do if you get it is get the MFD mod that’s in the Wish List section under MFD readability thread. Without that I would not buy it yet.
  13. WVR in VR means about 5 miles or closer to really make out the aircraft and aspect angle. I use a healthy dose of Spyglass zoom as well but we’ll be behind the curve in comparison to monitors for a while yet. SA in VR is time acquired. I don’t know what you’re allowed in the dogfight servers, but I call for bogey dopes constantly, my cockpit scans include the HSD in the Viper, SA page in the Hornet, working the radar to know what’s around whether I can lock it or not and the all important RWR. Of all sensors available the RWR is what I rely on most. Also knowing the opposing aircrafts capabilities and WEZ is paramount when using the RWR especially in the Viper which sorts threats by their engagement ranges. I fly almost exclusively online and have done so for 2 years solid in VR starting with the CV1. I had no issues dogfighting with it because I did it all the time. After a while of doing it in the same jet you’ll get a sixth sense so to speak of what’s going on around you. SA. Just keep doing it while you get your settings dialed in. You should have no issue seeing the bandit once in gun WEZ which is about 2000 feet for a good solution. Did you set Anisotropic Filtering to 16x? That makes the biggest difference in seeing objects farther away.
  14. If you can run DCS well enough in VR to enjoy it, all other games will have no issues.
  15. How do I use CBU97’s?? LIBERALLY!! Since initial release I’ve not had any issues with dropping them in CCIP which usually post designates to CCRP. Steep dive angles will reduce delays. If you’re post designate it’s because you’re too far from the target however you can always crank up and toss it. It’s not as accurate obviously but I’ve had many successful hits over 5 miles easily. As to why your bombs aren’t coming off, the typical culprit is not staying on the pickle till release. For the most part they’re pretty straight forward. Put the thing on the thing, then hold pickle till it comes off. Are hung stores modeled yet? That would be the other reason. If you’ve over G’d you could have damaged the station.
  16. I'm going to give this a try since I haven't taken this exact route before. It is however similar to setting 148% custom resolution and DCS Application at 138%. Your settings are actually higher. As to Process Lasso I haven't had good experiences with setting affinity probably because I didn't set as many cores/threads to DCS. Then again my Hyperthreading is off so I only report the 8 physical cores and 16 threads. Also I didn't go as far as setting the threads, only the cores. When I did this I would get static in the audio whenever I zoomed in and overall choppy performance. I know DCS uses 1 of the 2 threads it's recognizes for sound only and I assume my results had something to do with that. What I do use Process Lasso for is forcing Priority. I force DCS, SteamVR Server and SteamVR compositor to REAL TIME priority when they are running and it seems to smooth things out. It could also be placebo though lol. *EDIT* Just tried your settings and they were too much for me. I jumped on my wings server which is running Clearfield, I start in the hangar and am usually right at 45 FPS with very slight dips until I move out. After applying your settings I was locked at 30 FPS. Oh well, new settings are always worth trying!
  17. If you haven’t done so already turn off Hyperthreading in BIOS. That is unless you need it for something other than gaming. The most I’ve been able to get out of my 9900K is 5.1. Turning off hyperthreading will lower temps by about 8c and possibly make make DCS less choppy as well. I don’t OC video cards. Personally I’ve not seen good enough results to chance burning up a $1,300 video card lol. Others have had good results though.
  18. If your only super sampling is 150%, even with MSAA at 2x your frame rates should be fantastic. Even with a 1080Ti. I don’t know what to tell you, especially if your other games are good to go. Maybe do a wipe and and reinstall of DCS clean, which means wiping your saved games folder as well. Obviously it’s not the the Index or your hardware.
  19. The original and still best HOTAS system of all Gen 4 fighters.
  20. Start Custom resolution at 178% instead of 188% to get a baseline, if that doesn’t work well go to 168% then to 158%. Also the percentage doesn’t have to end in 8. I think I’m currently at 194% from a starting value of 204%. What are your current settings? What Nvidia driver are you running and what version of Steam VR? My Nvidia settings are currently pretty tame. I only have prefer maximum performance, low latency mode at ultra and pre-rendered VR frames at 3.
  21. Try to set the micro stick manually in the control settings axis page. In other words, use the drop down box for input axis and select TUSBA y axis or x axis. Next, set your dead zone for X and Y big enough to conceal the spiking. That should keep you in the game for now.
  22. While I’ve not had any issues with AG mode losing the SMS page I have had an issue with MRM mode not going back to the Missile status display once changed to the inventory page. This happens when I’ve changed the SMS page to S-J forgetting I’m in AA instead of AG/Nav mode. It gets stuck displaying the SMS inventory page. I should be able to hit the AA master mode button on the the ICP to bring it back which is what you do while in the AG master mode after pitching stores but it doesn’t work. Only a new jet brings it back.
  23. The above mod will make it much easier to read the MFD’s even on the CV1
  24. Nice!
  25. Create a new account. You need Steam to be able to get and use both WMR for Steam and SteamVR which you will need.
