Yep I started around the time when EGA was the hot new sh*t! My first computer had no hard drive and two 'floppies'. So visually yes, I guess you can always do better. Raytracing was a thing even in the 1990's but it's only really today that you start to hear some talk about that tech coming to gamin _soon_ so still a long way to go towards visual realism. On top of having low expectations, I'm also a cheap bastard and expect the graphics engine updates and community mods to keep the visuals interesting over time. I was referring more to the 'simulation' side of things, I'm still a baby hog quite frankly but there is so much depth to the systems in the A10C I wonder how much better it can become? But I like where you are taking me MemphisB, so I shall taunt the coding gods with yet another wishlist for the A10C: - MFD's (and exports) that don't impact the framerate so much - Shaking - Wing flex - Vapor - less boring wingmen AI - Nicer textures, yeah sure!

Hi everybody just wanted to bring some closure to this thread... As I've suspected a DCS repair and delete of the shaders folders did the trick, so sorry for implying the coding gods were not up to the task. -
Would you mind sharing any sources regarding these techniques specifically for the A10's gun?
-
...you mean GR8 ? lol what a typo!

DCS World 2.5.x Caucasus Terrain Textures
METEOP replied to Mustang's topic in Texture/Map Mods for DCS World
Whoa I just found your thread, used to your textures in 1.5 but I had completely forgotten about it. Absolutely gorgeous! I find it helps with spotting, going without labels. -
Anybody noticed the new sound from the gun in the A10 from 2.5.4? Pretty badass! You can hear the airframe resonating from the gattling gun :punk: So now, it's not so much BRRRRT anymore, sounds to me like BRRRRAAAAAT!

That's what I have! Been going strong for two years now. I'ts GOLD rated so you should not have any problem, if 850w. is enough for your rig. Contrasy to lesser models it will give you a real and solid 850w I says good choice! I'm sure others will chime in also on the quality of this unit. -

A bit of wisdom for an old geezer

Hi Cap'n I used to repair computers for a living so this is how I would approach the issue: Fist, isolate the problem (while taking nothing for granted). I would take an old SSD / HDD, install a fresh windows and DCS, copy your configs and give it a go. If you ever wanted to upgrade your hard drive then it's a good time to do this. If the problem persists, you have to look into the hardware. If not then it's a software issue. Here a caveat : yes it is still possible at this point that the issue is software (ie: BIOS) but you are trying to hold on to anything you can at this point so you have to generalize a bit. Another clue to determine if it's software or hardware: if your Windows reboots (shows the restarting thingy) it is more likely a software problem, but if it crashes and reboots in a split second it's probably the BIOS trying to recover from a hardware failure. Also another thing I would tell you is NEVER READ THE ERROR MESSAGES FROM MICROSOFT. They are wrong almost 99% of the time, mostly come from a secondary issue and will put you in the wrong direction towards resolving your problem. If your problem was software, by reinstalling Windows you corrected your problem, time to play! If your problem is hardware, well this is going to be very painfull... I recommend taking your computer to a professional repair center so that they can swap parts to try to find the one (cpu, ram stick, mobo, graphics card etc.) that crashes the system. If you computer crashes while installing Windows this could be usefull for the repair tech. Of course to do this they have to recreate the problem, which can be impossible in a lab settings sometimes. If you have a friend willing to swap parts with you to try, this could be a tremendous help, but I don't have such friends I hope you do. I know what some of you guys are saying, reinstalling Windows is too much of a pain in the ass just for doing a test... Believe me... it will be the fastest way to go :noexpression: -
I have flown most of these sims and after much frustration and disappointment I ditched them all for DCS, and at the same time abandoned any effort towards civilian flight. IMO DCS is currently the only sim that feels like you are flying in the air instead of on rails. The graphics and performance of the engine is superior to anything I have seen so far. ED would have a solid foot in the door with a civilian flight sim. Just a few thing missing : - World terrain (petabytes anyone?) - A model of a white flag, for thoses unfortunate civilians caught in the crossfire :smilewink:

!!!! Maybe my standards are low, but I already find the hog pretty good looking as it is. But sure! I could get used to better :v:

Updated overnight, this morning it starts up fine, but unfortunately I don't have the time to test it until tonight I have a crazy busy day. Can't wait to see is it alleviates my stuttering issue, judging from comments I have high hopes! Later...

Same to you, the team, the family and all pilots at ED forums! (and the moderators too) :santa:

Hey sorry it took a while, here is what I like best so far: (taken from the config .lua file) ["changed"] = { [1] = { ["filter"] = { ["curvature"] = { [1] = 0.3, }, ["deadzone"] = 0, ["invert"] = false, ["saturationX"] = 1, ["saturationY"] = 0.5, ["slider"] = false, }, ["key"] = "JOY_X", }, }, ["name"] = "HOTAS Slew Horizontal", }, ["a2034cdnil"] = { ["changed"] = { [1] = { ["filter"] = { ["curvature"] = { [1] = 0.3, }, ["deadzone"] = 0, ["invert"] = false, ["saturationX"] = 1, ["saturationY"] = 0.5, ["slider"] = false, }, ["key"] = "JOY_Y", }, }, ["name"] = "HOTAS Slew Vertical", I don't seem to have any drift though, maybe because it's new?

Thank you so much Yurgon and everybody else for these amazing knowledge bits! Really apreciated. I will be trying this out tonight, METEOP out.

I tried searching but did not came up with what I'm looking for... I point my TGP, set SPI, slave all to SPI, then chose a CCRP munition. Easy enough so far. If I start moving the TGP around and redefine SPI, will the CCRP munition still be slave to SPI or do I need to slave it to SPI again? The reason is, when doing a CCRP run I need to redefine the SPI to take into account the fuse time (for example a convoy moving along a road) but I am not sure If the CCRP piper will target the adjusted SPI. Unless you know of a better tactic?

Thank god I thought I was crazy !

RWR device name for MonitorSetup
METEOP replied to ShadowVonChadwick's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi there I had to fiddle around for this a bit, but it works great. I made an OVGME zip because it gets reset every time there is an update. Edit this file : [DCS Folder]/Mods/aircraft/A-10C/Cockpit/Scripts/AN_ALR69V/indicator/AN_ALR69V_init.lua So that it looks like this : dofile(LockOn_Options.common_script_path.."devices_defs.lua") dofile(LockOn_Options.common_script_path.."ViewportHandling.lua") try_find_assigned_viewport("AN_ALR69V") indicator_type = indicator_types.COMMON ---------------------- rwr_symbols_bound = 0.027 -- coeff to limit indication on RWR when symbol can't be place on RWR entirely -------PAGE IDs------- id_Page = { PAGE_OFF = 0, PAGE_MAIN = 1, PAGE_BIT = 2 } ....and so forth Next, put the definition in your MonitorSetup .lua file. As an example : AN_ALR69V = { x = 550; y = 1662; width = 200; height = 200; }
