  1. Understood. But in that case, why roll in on the target at 45 degrees dive and 450knots. Wouldn't a level delivery be just as effective?
  2. If anyone has watched 'Jetstream', I'm always interested to know why they use 'AUTO' mode from about 15,000-18,000 and dive down to release at about 8-12,000 in a 45 degree angle? It almost seems like they do a CCIP run but in 'AUTO'. You would think that CCIP would be a better option in this sort of profile. Am I missing something here? The program also goes to great lengths to explain the speed and angle needed which isn't really a massive consideration in AUTO as the computer is basically giving you a calculated release point.
  3. I have the Warthog and I'm using the mini stick press as TDC depress
  4. It does seem to work by pressing the TDC after you slew to target. I guess they changed the implementation after the video from Wags.
  5. No, not according to the video that was posted explaining how it works.
  6. Nope, the thread this was in was moved here and merged.
  7. Sam here and also discussed here https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=226602&page=29
  8. Same here. It maybe locked once in about 30+ attempts.
  9. In the on position you would need to have a manual or semi auto program set on the ALE for the dispense switch to function. At least I think :)
  10. And he was already an accomplished glider pilot.
  11. Of course it had an impact. It helps tremendously with knowing the controls and the procedures as I said earlier. The familiarity helps but it cannot teach you to fly. The physical senses and cues are just not there. Your brother became a better pilot faster because of the sim but it did not teach him to fly. I was the same when I started real world flying. I figured it would be easy as I had many hours in sims. Heck, I figured I could be instrument rated in no time. I will tell you this: The first time I went 'under the hood' for IFR training it felt completely different. My senses told me I was turning, I was completely disorientated even though from sim time I knew to concentrate on the instruments. After a few minutes I put the feelings aside and relied on the instruments but it was a scary few mins. Those are the kind of things you just do not get in the sim and you cannot recreate. Now, you ask someone to jump into an F18 where everything happens WAY faster than in a C172 I can assure you no sim time on DCS will prevent a nasty mess happening. There is a reason many very experienced pilots don't check out on the F18 (or any fast jet for that matter). They are good pilots already.....just not good enough.
  12. I can assure you that PC sim time does not equate to being able to fly the real thing. I went into lessons on a C152 and C172 and sure, I knew all the controls, I knew procedures and I knew comms. What the sim cannot do is prepare you for the actual physical aspect of flying. The force on the controls, outside influences. Honestly its not even close. It takes time to to get used to all this, time that only comes from hours in the cockpit. Then, when you go back to the sim, you find it hard because all of those senses that you have come to rely on for cues are no longer there. We can see this in the video done by mover. Anyone who thinks that they could actually handle a hornet in the real world after DCS is really quite deluded. Yes, you would be familiar and would have a better chance than the average joe but that's about it.
  13. Ah, great. Where is this thread? I cant see one.... EDIT - Nevermind, I found it in the general DCS 2.5 forum
  14. As per title. Latest update has wiped most of my assigned controls. Very annoying!!
  15. Actually I’m well aware of controlling descent with throttle and stick for speed. It’s how you learn in a Cessna 152/172 My point was regarding the spool time of the engine compared to throttle input. Not the reaction of the aircraft itself to the throttle input in terms rate of descent etc. The lag is noticeable between input and engine spool time reaction.
  16. If it’s accurate then I’m ok with it. However, my initial impression is that the spool up time in general seems excessive for a fighter. Feels like a turboprop in terms of lag and that just seems odd in a high performance aircraft.
  17. Gun dispersion is not right though. There is a thread in about it somewhere......
  18. Great job! Couple of things... 1) left engine fire warning seems to have been labeled for both left and right on the diagrams. 2) the weapon release only does a/g stores. Trigger is not just gun on f18 it does air/air ordnance too.
  19. Th I would imagine that the thrustmaster announcement next week will be a package of throttle and stick, just like the original warthog. You will probably be able to buy the throttle separately too I would think.
  20. Something seems to have changed in the patch today. No longer seem to be getting the huge nose drop when deploying flaps.
  21. Exactly. Same as for me on my CH Pro Throttle.
  22. I believe it works currently like the real aircraft. You shouldn't be using AT on approach. You need to pitch to get the AOA bracket correct and then control descent rate with throttle.
  23. No, it doesn't. It stays where you moved it to.
  24. This was working correctly for me on release day. Only a single bomb drops. Now it always drops 2 or even 3. :) I will try the workaround. Is this a confirmed bug?
