  1. Hey guys, I am still over on DCS 1.5.8 and enjoying it tremendously with very high frame rates (150 - 170 fps average) on some of my 'home brew' 8 vs 8 missions (Mig-15bis / F-86F). Using a 144hz/1ms monitor and a Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 graphics card with only 4GB on the card and 16GB RAM. How are things going over on DCS 2.5.1? [May 4th 2018 update: Have put together 12 F-86 jets vs 12 Mig 15 jets over Gudauta missions on the Mission Editor - getting mid 100 fps frame rates even with 24 aircraft in the sky. (Make sure to select an 'excellent' wingman AI!). Is the SeaQuark Multiplayer Server still active? I'll spend the money on whatever you guys think my pc upgrades should be regarding graphic cards etc. Have not received any inputs or help regarding this matter. Let me know if you guys are flying over on DCS 2.5.1. Thanks.] Not sure what I will need to upgrade to. Make sure you make a copy of DCS 1.5.8. It works tremendously well on a 4GB Nvidia graphics card in non multiplayer mode with a single Dell 27inch monitor. Need help to figure out what the right upgrades would be. Hey, come back over to the DCS 1.5.8. I'm lonesome over here! All mulitplayer servers are gone so I make up a lot of Mission Editor Mig15 vs F86 missions.
  2. SeaQuark Server Specific PC Upgrades? deleted
  3. Guys, I am a newbie to DCS and still on DCS 1.5.8 and am having a great time with high FPS (120s to 170s) on my new Dell 27inch/144hz/1ms/G-Sync monitor. Using Mission Editor to build air to air missions of 6 V 6 fighter combat, etc. with no stuttering, lag, screen tearing etc. Mig-15/F-86 game play is really good and I am anxious to join up with you guys on DCS 2.5. I was flying on some of the Multiplayer Servers and still had FPS counts in the low 100s FPS....I am using a hardline cable connection to my Router. (Perhaps we should all be mentioning which Router and connection (wireless/cable) that we are using in our equipment too?) I always fly at 2560 X 1440. My only concern is whether or not my current system will actually give me any good (60) FPS for flying on 2.5. The aircraft and cockpits, sky, ground, flowers, trees, etc. are all beautifully rendered on DCS 1.5.8. ED has done a tremendous job with it...hate to leave it for DCS 2.5. I don't need to see every tree and leaf - I just need great FPS, no screen tearing, or lag. (the 27 inch Dell Monitor with the G-Sync, 1Ms, 144Hz has opened up the game for me with excellent results!). I previously owned an Asus 24 inch 60Hz Monitor. I'm going to try to build 12 Migs vs 12 F-86s dogfights missions and test for FPS slowdowns - have not had any FPS slowdowns with the 6 V 6 dogfights. I use D.Va's Optimization Guide to fine tune some of the settings. I LOVE DCS 1.5.8! It works perfect with only 4Gb of VRAM on the video card and with 16Gb of overall RAM. I know that DCS 1.5.8 will go soon unsupported in favor of DCS 2.5, if not already... FYI... My computer specs (purchased already built): Lenovo Y900 Desktop tower – full size (2 years old – March 2016) Processors: 6th Generation Intel Core i7-6700K (4.00GHz 2133MHz 8MB) Operating system: Windows 10 Home 64 Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 4GB Drives: SSD: 256GB (78.4GB used--160GB free) SATA Hybrid Drive: 2TB 7200RPM (DCS 1.5.8 on this HD) RAM: 16GB DDR4 2133MHz Mother Board? – Device Name 2F6B2C20-1D9F-458A-A664-C0CA0E535D88 Power Supply Unit: It says “610W MAX” (625W total). Note: an online comment mentioned the following: “A PSU is operating at its optimum when only 50% of the power is used….buy twice what you need...if you are using 400W then buy a 800W PSU...” I am not using any AIO CPU liquid cooler/fans, etc. Only the CPU cooling fan that came with it along with the two case fans-front and rear. Totally stock PC system. Router: Netgear Wireless N600 Dual Band WNDR3400. 5gHZ (5 years old-works great! Hardline cable connected to PC.) Everything works great! It was the 60Hz PC Monitor that was holding me back! (that and my lousy air-to-air gunnery skills...I'm gonna blame the Monitor for that too! :-)
  4. Please mention which PC Gaming monitor that you guys are using, Mhz speed, refresh rate, etc. I would start with a monitor that can do all of the following: (it has made a world of difference in FPS): In March 2018, I upgraded from my original 24 inch ASUS 60Hz monitor to the Dell S2716DG ‑ 27" LED Monitor ‑ WQHD. Bought it on sale at BBuy for $469.00 but I also bought a second one for my wife for $399.00 through Dell.com (Dell had a very short time limited sale at their website about a week ago). Highly recommend this monitor for single monitor players. I am still on DCS 1.5.8 and it plays beautifully both offline and online (with the few multiplayer servers still over on 1.5.8.). I don't need to see every tree or leaf, flower, I need FPS (I'm into the F-86 vs Mig15 bis dogfights), but the scenery is beautiful in 1.5.8. It has made a tremendous difference in FPS (low to mid 120s to 150s) while playing all the time at 2560 X 1440 and G-Sync enabled. Has: 144Mhz refresh rate. 27 inch screen. 1Ms response time. G-Sync compatible (with my GeForce GTX 980 card with 4Gb RAM on card). Rev no. on outside of box says 'A08' and was manufactured Dec 2017. [i asked the BB salesman to read off the revision codes on the boxes he had stacked up in the showroom...A08 was the latest vs. A06 and A07 he had on the shelf] TN panel but it is exceptionally better than the older TN panels. My computer (purchased already built): Lenovo Y900 Desktop tower – full size (2 years old – March 2016) Processors: 6th Generation Intel Core i7-6700k (4.00GHz 2133MHz 8MB) Operating system: Windows 10 Home 64 Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 4GB Drives: SSD: 256GB (78.4GB used--160GB free) SATA Hybrid Drive: 2TB 7200RPM (DCS 1.5.8 is on this HD) RAM: 16GB DDR4 2133MHz (note: is there a new GDDR6 RAM coming out?) Mother Board? – Device Name 2F6B2C20-1D9F-458A-A664-C0CA0E535D88 Power Supply Unit: It says “610W MAX” (625W total). Note: an online comment mentioned that “a PSU is operating at its optimum when only 50% of the power is used….buy twice what you need...if you are using 400W then buy a 800W PSU...” Note: Take a look at Wag's list of equipment he uses too... FYI
  5. This will be really exciting and provide some very interesting missions. Fighter pilots will have to protect the Komets takeoff and landing fields from enemy fighter aircraft who would try to shoot them down on their glides and landing approaches (similar to Me-262 jet stories). It looks like it will be really fantastic to fly the simulation. If nothing else, it will be a great 'trophy plane' to add to my aircraft stable and to design offline missions for it through the Mission Editor! Well done! Salut!
  6. For Igor, family, and friends: Thank you for this gift of flight simulation. This DCS World has made a big difference for me in virtual flight experiences and enjoying the flight camaraderie of so many people who love this simulation. You and your team members made DCS World the finest flight simulation in the world and it is a real privilege to continue flying here on you and your team's behalf. "How do you deal with the terrible loss of a friend, a family member or a loved one? You don't. You just try to get past it." "In life, the best walks are often too brief."
  7. Perfect Monitor! Mitthrawnuruodo, I followed your advice on getting a new monitor and I couldn't be happier! I've upgraded from my original 24 inch ASUS 60Hz monitor to the Dell S2716DG ‑ 27" LED Monitor ‑ WQHD. Waiting for a stable DCS 2.5. It has made a tremendous difference in FPS (low to mid 120s to 150s) while playing all the time at 2560 X 1440 and G-Sync enabled. Has: 144Mhz refresh rate. 27 inch screen - you do notice the slightly larger size of screen. Big change. 1Ms response time G-Sync compatible (with my GeForce GTX 980 card with 4Gb RAM on card). Rev no. on outside of box says 'A08' and was manufactured Dec 2017. [i asked the salesman to read off the revision codes...A08 was the latest vs. A06 and A07 he had on the shelf] TN panel but it is exceptionally better than the older TN panels. See the BB website for the 700 plus reviews on this monitor. They have three or four hundred comments about gaming, G-Sync, refresh rate, etc. Don't pay retail. Wait for BB (or Dell.com) to put it on sale. $469 - buy it. I'm still new to DCS, so let me know if these comments by brand specific is ok. Can delete whatever you guys tell me to do. My next upgrades are....? Graphics card with at least 8GB of RAM? A new CPU such as the i7-8700K with a CPU air cooler fan along with a bigger power supply? A new motherboard? I don't know. Been looking at pre-builts at NZXT. Not sure what to do since there is no stable 2.5 version of DCS out yet. Very concerned about the issues that guys are having... My computer (purchased already built): Lenovo Y900 Desktop tower – full size (2 years old – March 2016) Processors: 6th Generation Intel Core i7-6700k (4.00GHz 2133MHz 8MB) Operating system: Windows 10 Home 64 Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 4GB Drives: SSD: 256GB (78.4GB used--160GB free) SATA Hybrid Drive: 2TB 7200RPM RAM: 16GB DDR4 2133MHz (note: is there a new GDDR6 RAM coming out?) 8. Your information really helps! Really appreciated! Thanks again. I will look at updating the monitor and hopefully the graphics cards prices will stabilize...
  9. DCS 2.5 Gaming PC Monitor question: Looking at this monitor for upgrade- ASUS ROG SWIFT PG279Q 27" 2560x1440 IPS 165Hz 4ms G-SYNC Eye Care Gaming Monitor with DP and HDMI ports. [Note: this monitor is set to 144Hz. 165Hz is achieved by a few customization options] ($750.00 U.S. Dollars). 'Eye Care Gaming'?? Really? Sounds like a marketing item... -Current Monitor is a 24 inch Asus 60Hz. Purpose of monitor and PC is only to fly DCS 2.5 in the future....I am committed! (My mom had me tested. :-) -My current computer below (purchased already built): Lenovo Y900 Desktop tower – full size (2 years old – March 2016) Processors: 6th Generation Intel Core i7-6700k (4.00GHz 2133MHz 8MB) Operating system: Windows 10 Home 64 Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 4GB Drives: SSD: 256GB (78.4GB used--160GB free) SATA Hybrid Drive: 2TB 7200RPM RAM: 16GB DDR4 2133MHz Mother Board? – Device Name 2F6B2C20-1D9F-458A-A664-C0CA0E535D88 Power Supply Unit: It says “610W MAX” (625W total). Not interested in curved monitors, 3D, VR, overclocking, etc. Interested in only the the standard 1920 X 1080 or 1440 with G-Sync (Nvidia). Single monitor only. Intend to do a full upgrade/buy new computer in the Fall. Was thinking that selecting the right monitor now to help with several visual acuity issues (yes, I wear glasses too... :-) for both my current and future computer gaming on DCS 2.5 (I am still on DCS 1.5 right now until DCS 2.5 is stable-released). I'm thinking a new 144Hz monitor and a graphics card with 8Mb of video might be a good optional upgrade for my current PC - if it helps the play of DCS 2.5. Sure have appreciated all the help from you guys. You are good people! :-)
  10. cichlidfan, Understood and appreciated. I will let things settle out for a few months and see how the DCS 2.5 stable (when it comes out) runs on my current PC setup. Thanks again for the comments and advice. I saw that some guys are going for a clean straight download of DCS 2.5 (Open Beta), vs upgrading their DCS 1.5.8 versions...claiming some bugs or something in their upgrade downloads--not sure of their facts. Maybe I should do a simple, clean download of DCS 2.5 stable when it comes out? I've only been flying the F-86 and Mig 15bis right now.
  11. Mitthrawnuruodo, Clear, concise comments--thanks very much for the great response to my questions and concerns! Really appreciate it. Want to download the DCS 2.5 stable when it comes out and play on Multiplayer Servers at the standard 1920 X 1080p resolution level for now as I learn more about computer gaming, graphics, etc. The Monitor advice makes great sense too!
  12. February 22, 2018. My question: Should I spend the money to upgrade my current PC computer’s RAM, Graphics Card, PSU, CPU, etc. or just buy a pre-built with a NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1080 TI graphics card and all the support hardware already installed—to play DCS World 2.5 for five years? Any reputable pre-built PC companies that you can recommend would be helpful. I’m not a tech dude. I realize no graphics card or pc system will play all the time at 60 FPS – a benchmark for reasonable play. I am a new DCS World player. I just want to play DCS World 2.5 and beyond on multiplayer (more video RAM required?) online servers and campaigns offline on a single desktop monitor (1080p) with TIR5, joystick with twist rudder, throttle and a full-size Desktop Tower (for ‘future proofing’) and play specifically for DCS World – no other games. (have all these items) Currently play on DCS stable version 1.5.8.12823.414. Waiting for DCS 2.5 final release. Many Servers already gone over to the 2.5 Open Beta. Very few left on 1.5. [Note: Latest released DCS_updater is 2.6.24.37. If your updater got corrupt because of a broken antivirus or firewall software, you may download it here: DCS_updater_64bit.zip 2.7 MB ] Not interested in 3D, Virtual Reality, or 4K graphics, etc. Recommended system requirements: OS 64-bit Windows 7/8/10; DirectX11; CPU: Core i5+ at 3+ GHz or AMD FX / Ryzen; RAM: 16 GB; Free hard disk space: 120 GB on Solid State Drive (SSD); Discrete video card DirectX11: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070/ AMD Radeon RX VEGA 56 with 8GB VRAMor better; Joystick; requires internet activation. Source: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/beta/ My computer (purchased already built): Lenovo Y900 Desktop tower – full size (2 years old – March 2016) Processors: 6th Generation Intel Core i7-6700k (4.00GHz 2133MHz 8MB) Operating system: Windows 10 Home 64 Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 4GB Drives: SSD: 256GB (78.4GB used--160GB free) SATA Hybrid Drive: 2TB 7200RPM RAM: 16GB DDR4 2133MHz (note: is there a new GDDR6 RAM coming out?) Note: an online comment mentioned that “a PSU is operating at its optimum when only 50% of the power is used….buy twice what you need...if you are using 400W then buy a 800W PSU...” Thinking (not sure) that I should do the following upgrades to my PC computer to play DCS 2.5 for five more years on it: (in anticipation of future DCS 2.5 updates) 1. RAM--Add an additional 16GB of exactly the same DDR4 2133 MHz ($250-$300) 2. SSD--Add a SSD 500GB ($150-$200 - not sure where or if it will fit…) 3. Upgrade graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 TI Founders Edition (New: $1,000 to $1,500….if they were available…). Remember: April release time for the new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 2080 series graphics cards. 4. Upgrade PSU to 1000W – $250 - depends on graphics card (‘future proofing’ ?) or: 5. Don’t spend the money to upgrade. Purchase a pre-built gaming pc with the 1080TI card, etc. already installed in it. Appreciated any comments. Especially on the new GTX 2080 (and 2080TI?) series graphics cards coming out this Spring. Money spent on current technology may be out of date. Depends on where ‘DCS 2.5 and Beyond’ will be going in the future.

  14. I've been really pleased with the 'JustDogFight' Server in multiplayer. They use a blue dot/Blue Player team vs. the red dot/Red Player team. The blue or red dots for the aircraft are only visible from a reasonable distance away from each other. Perhaps a similar system would help other Servers in Multiplayer? Or in 2.5.
  15. GRAPHICS OUTFIT Nvidia will unveil the GeForce GTX 20 series in April, according to online murmurs.
  16. Feb 12 online info - New Generation of Graphics cards coming out: GRAPHICS OUTFIT Nvidia will unveil the GeForce GTX 20 series in April, according to online murmurs. "The leak comes via German site 3D Center, which claims that the new generation of GPUs will be based on its upcoming architecture, codenamed 'Ampere'. The new lineup is said to arrive in April, so it could be that the firm will unveil the new-generation of GPUs at its GTC technology conference in San Jose, due to take place at the end of March. If true, it will be almost exactly two years after Nvidia unveiled the GeForce GTX 1070 and GTX 1080 in Austin, Texas. The German news site claims that TSMC has stopped production of GP102, the GPU that powers the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, meaning that current-generation GTX 1080 Ti and Titan X graphics cards would stop being produced throughout the rest of this year to make way for the unravelling of the GTX 20 series. If the reports are confirmed come March or April, the GTX 20 series is likely to use Nvidia's new and improved VRAM technology, which uses a smaller bus than the GTX 1080 Ti thanks to the arrival of the firm's GDDR6 technology. The upcoming Ampere architecture is rumoured to be based on Samsung's 14nm process technology after Nvidia signed an agreement with the Korean tech giant that would see the company making its new chips. The last big GPU Nvidia unveiled was for desktop PCs and workstations that, founder and CEO Jensen Huang claimed, was "the world's most powerful GPU for the PC". Named the Titan V, the GPU is intended not for gaming (yea, right), though, but for machine learning applications. Announced at the annual NIPS conference in December 2017, the Titan V was touted as "the world's most powerful GPU for the PC" and is designed to excel at computational processing for scientific simulation. With 21.1 billion transistors delivering 110 teraflops of raw horsepower, it is also said to be nine times as powerful as its predecessor, and way more energy efficient thanks to being based on Nvidia's Volta GPU architecture." (end)
  17. You were wise to hold off buying newer PC and graphics card tech for use with DCS 2.5 and future upgrades of all computer games. Why buy old technology? Your continued patience will pay off through Nvidia's leak: Information is from an online source 2 days ago/February 12th, 2018: Nvidia GeForce GTX 20 series tipped to debut in April. (end of news article) FYI. Many articles online about Nvidia coming out with these new graphic cards. ED will probably try to build/upgrade to this new future... end. Not a troll, just wanted to share this brand new online news. I still think this GTX 1080ti would be great to have....if you could get it.
  18. I too am remaining with 1.5.8 until the 2.5 stable comes out. Anxiously awaiting word on an approx release date (1 to 2 weeks?) for the 2.5 Stable release....from their website soon I hope.
