Hornet radar seems fine for what it should be able to do. It's capable, but it's not magic, beaming target below you are not going to be easily seen even by powerful radar systems. F-15c's in real life lost radar locks on huge MiG 25s when they notched with 30nm. A F-16 should not be able to detect another F-16 at 40nm that is beaming it in ground clutter, but currently it can. None of the other teen jets can detect a target like that in game.

https://sofrep.com/amp/fightersweep/hornet-vs-viper-part-four/ Pilot who flew both hornet and viper. He's mentioned it in other sources as well. And for targets at lower alt notching targets at 40nm your source says the APG 68 in the F-16 can detect those targets? No i'm pretty sure the sources don't say that. The F-15C lose STT lock on MiG 25s when the notch within 30nm In this book https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.amazon.ca/F-15C-Eagle-MiG-23-25-Iraq/dp/1472812700&ved=2ahUKEwis063zo6f0AhVEFTQIHRVKBWsQFnoECFUQAQ&usg=AOvVaw3Dz0RCMD5PnFqzPRiKS3GW Until they close to within 10nm. So a F-16 should in no way be able to detect another F-16 that is notching at 40nm when the hornet and F-15 Can't in game

Right now the F-16 radar is way too powerful, and is easily able to pick up anything of various size before 40nm flying in the notch or a beam while the Hornet, and even the F-15c won't be able to detect the same targets if I just sub out the F-16 for one of the other mentioned modules. The radar In the F-16 is supposed to only be slightly worse then the one in the F/A 18C hornet, but definitely worse then the one in the Eagle

So from the testing I've done if you IFF in PSIC (STT) you will get the underline under the square box that the target is getting interrogated, and the big letter A if it comes back friendly. However this doesn't seem to be the case if your in PSID (TWS) in which case you have to look at the radar screen and look for the diamond on or near the target your interrogating. Is this is how it's suppose to be? I can't find it in the manual.

Ok seriously there is no point give air to air variants of the Ataka missile, if Petrovitch's logic will not allow him to lock targets above the horizon. Hopefully this feature will come soon, I'm getting tired of not being able to lock on to slow low flying helicopters and jets, because the AI only in the rarest of instances can lock on to flying targets, and again it's only if they are below the horizon.

Bug still happens even at 4x msaa. The bug has never really gone away, it was improved and now it takes several seconds of pointing the radar at ground clutter, but it will drop from 80fps to 30 and then go back up to 80 immediately if the radar is turned off

Man though it's bugs have at times kept me away from her, you can't argue that the Viggen is great. I really appreciate all the hard work Alpenwolf has done with the mission building to make the Viggen very accessible in multiplayer especially for people starting out in her. She can do some pretty cool stuff.

Awesome work man. The Mi-24 is just so versatile even with it's cold war heritage

You're a bit too heavy, and your pulling too much collective too quickly. When you want to yaw right and maintain altitude you actually lower collective to gain more authority. Yawning right, actually will cause you to assend slightly as the helicopter supplies torque to the rear rotar, but also to the main rotars. When in hot and heavy conditions you need to very gently and gradually raise collective to the point where you will just hover but still have rudder authority. Then pitch the aircraft forward till you have about 50 kph forward air speed then she will be fine. Alternatively you can do a rolling takeoff. In case you pull too much collective and get into the spin you describe, don't fight the spin, but control it so s that the aircraft is vectoring in one direction by pushing the cyclic in the direction of your movement vector in relation to the spin, once you get enough airspeed in one direction it will sort itself out.

I usually get much better success 6-7 usually and 8 out of 8 is not uncommon. and if it misses 90% of the time it's my fault. Vertical Wobbles are bad, any course adjustments are bad, especially late in the missile flight. The best option is to maintain a steady course once the missile is 25%-50% of the way to target. You don't need to keep the target in the center of the reticle just keep your movement minimal, even if you find your offset slightly. It will be fine long as long as your course is buttery smooth. If going for a moving target offset with lead on the targets direction will help Petrovich. Remember Pertrovich can move the sight beyond the boundaries that you can see his crosshairs in your asp sight. Ocne that missile is fired worry only about stability, less so on being directly pointed on target.

Got lucky he got low and slow.

Now when you bring up the petrovick menu select left after you bring up the menu, Petrovich will go through each missile type with each left press, so to fire the anti air version just press until it says selected 9K120O

Managed to get a lucky 9k114 Shturm kill on Sunday

On the cold war server pvp yesterday I managed to shoot down a slow and low F-5 with just the regular old sthurm it was awesome

Either way we can have the F1 with just the rear aspect heaters since lots of the time that seems like what they most often carried.

In the F1 DCS interview he says the first varient the F1CE (the one shown in the interview) carries Matra magic 1's Aim 9E Aim 9G And Aim 9N So the 9N is slightly worse then the AIM 9P, but not by much. So all of those are rear aspect heaters Also the R530 that the F1CE also carries in both radar guided and IR seekers is "medium range" but are big and heavy and not really as suited for shooting down fighters especially ones manuvering. And the F1CE's radar does not have look down shoot down capability. So I think it will be like the R3R, but heavier, have longer range but be less maneuverable.

I'm wondering if we can have a mission where the F-14As get some AIM-54A's in limited numbers? Mostly I think it would be interesting to fight against, but without AWACs I don't think it would be that powerful. Even now Tomcats are IMO not to hard to defeat with good tactics and MiG-21 and MiG 19 pilots. Yes you will have to make sure your not heading straight up at the Tomcat, but that is already the case.

That Mirage F1 CE is going to fit right in with the current plane set. That mini electrical/analong hud will be nice, with being able to see heading eyes up when doing intercepts, and then having range information when dogfighting in close.

Been getting this glitch for a while when there are clouds that are lower then the mountain tops, at a distance there seems to be a bit of a graphics glitch, I've include a video link below, and my current settings. Just wanted to know if this was normal? or something unique that other people are not experiencing.
-
Are your sure that is a programing thing? Or a limitations of the planes weapon systems. There is no cage/uncage button i believe on the C-101 and I don't know if it has the proper wiring so that the cooling system can be used to cool the seeker (allowing for longer range front aspect shots. go fire some AiM 9m's or Magics when you don't uncage the seeker, they frequently miss then, because the seeker is still looking boresight when it clears the rails and at that point the closing distance of your target will likely put the front aspet small heat signature of your enemy out of the view of the uncaged AIM 9m

What issue are you having with the current rear aspect missiles?

Cosplay comes from the shortening of "costume play", which is referred when people dress up as fictional characters, often in the context of superhero, sci-fi, or fantasy themed characters etc... In this reference he's says that the M variant of the F1 is kinda the exception of the F1 series, and not really a representation of most F1's that where involved in actual combat (with maybe the Iraq F1's coming somewhere between the later E varients and the Final M varient). So using the Mirage F1M to represent the older varients of F1 like the C variant (that I think didn't carry the 530F because of it's older radar) or the E variant (which did carry the 530F and had a better rada) is like trying to use the current F-16C Viper we have in game to represent (cosplay) something like the early F-16A's in the 1982 Lebbenon war. They are both F-16's but the A has a fair number of significant differences to the C
