No Missile Launch Warning when FOX3 shoot with STT
dundun92 replied to Papa Saubär's topic in Bugs and Problems
Ive noticed the above as well, you get a launch warning a split second before the missile warning. Im pretty sure ive gotten this in TWS as well, and in other jets like the Mirage and Flanker. Appears to be an general RWR bug, not F-16/18 specific. Its probably best reported in a dedicated thread + a trackfile. BTW its less that ED says the datalink gives no warning, and more that we just dont know. TWS gives datalink. Should it give RWR warnings? How do you best deal with targets in close enough formation for the datalink signal to give warnings to all of them? Without knowing the specifics of how an individual RWR works (which you will not find), its probably best to just assume no warning is given. -
It depends on the manuever. Both the AMRAAM and AIM-54 are easy to notch if you know how to notch properly. The 54 simply has MUCH more room for error. If you mess up notching an AMRAAM you will eat it almost 100% of the time. Ive only seen AMRAAMs notched "accidentally" once or twice. You can do a sloppy notch vs a 54 and still evade it. You can do it by accident just by panicing and spamming chaff. Describing it in % is pretty pointless barring tests under specific, controlled circumstances.

Hackers(?) on multi-player servers
dundun92 replied to colin5392's topic in Multiplayer Server Administration
The server in question uses IC, this guy has clearly found a way around it. Unfortunately, I dont have any specific evidence, the GS admins would need to get in touch with you. -
Yes, this thread details the changes: https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/english/digital-combat-simulator/dcs-f-a-18c-hornet/286126-ins-improvements-in-the-19-aug-2020-open-beta

Yes, its reported: https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/english/digital-combat-simulator/dcs-flaming-cliffs-3/f-15c-for-dcs-world/275589-investigating-an-apg-63-range-is-under-represented. Been marked as investigating for almost 6 months now :( Its underperforming by at least a solid 40%, and thats comparing to the ORIGINAL APG-63. Not MSIP APG-63.

"Mutual Support" 2v2 BVR Tournament v4 - November 7th 2020
dundun92 replied to dundun92's topic in Tournaments & Events
In light of DST, is 2000z still an acceptable time for everyone? -
You are using the wrong button if its dropping multiple CMs with the switch in bypass. Dont use the "CHAFF/FLARE SWITCH" binding, use CMS left. Always worked for me. As for optimal CM preset, against fox 2s I drop 5 flares with a very short interval, 1-2 bursts is usually enought to defeat any IR missile if you aerent in AB. If its tail espect just dispense a 3rd one. You simply dispense until you see the missile LOS rate shift aft as its tracking the flare. As for preflaring, I suppose something like 2 flares every 1-2 seconds would work, though I personally dont use it (as ive found it not to be quite as effective as just dropping your 5 flare sequence when you spot the smoke trail, its not hard.)

completely forgot about DST. Probably wont be able to participate, its a bit early.

Pretty sure it was (early?) 2021 at last update
-
No it was doing that, only the mode it was launched seemed to matter, not the mode that supported it

Taken from none other than GrowlingSidewinders "server".

So a note: from some more testing, we have noticed that the magic INS is only in TWS AUTO. TWS Manual does not have magic INS. Really odd, but again makes me think that somthing related to the memory mode is at play here

no such promise ever made COMPLETE F-16 in 2020?
dundun92 replied to giullep's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Do we know if our Viper is supposed to get those HMD upgrades? Slightly curious. -
All of the AIM-54 clips posted were from MP, it may help if you posted a tacview of a typical attempted AIM-54 notch, theres definitely sonething you arent doing that you need to be doing. And yes chaff resistance is worse in SP for missiles on the old API, no clue why. EDIT more videos from last Saturday. I seriously dunno why your having a hard time notching AIM-54s. Its just turning through the notch while spamming chaff:

Yea it takes like 30 seconds to get to the notifications page :megalol:

I think he means just tell us which page

Like none of the FF modules except the JF-17 and M2K are affected by ECM so this isnt really a tomcat thing, the cat just happens to have its jammer modeled, while the F-16/18 do not. As the DM goes, its definitely tanky but from both flying it and shooting missiles at it I rarely have seen a cat take a missile and still remain functional. Perhaps if what you care about is what your KD is on the leaderboard yea its problematic but in terms to taking the cat out of action and actually winning the BVR fight its not really that bad

AIM-54 is hard to notch eh?
-
The Magic INS is only in TWS, not STT. From what I can tell, it is caused by the radar memory in TWS, as it doesnt happen in STT, or for any other ARH missile in game. I will try and find the tacview. Also, as far as the A model being horrible vs fighters, its already like that in game right now. It eats chaff worse than the R-27 and is by far the easiest missile to notch. If you actually think any AIM-54 (A or C) in DCS is hard to notch I dont know what to say lol.
-
You are thinking of the AIM-54 and F-14, which behaves as either SARH or ARH depending on launch mode (IRL that is, not yet in DCS). Also, HOJ only works against a target that was origngally locked iirc. I dont think you can "maddog" and AIM-7 and have it find a freindly, though I could be wrong. Afaik the ground crew doesnt control anything missile related, its all based on the plane and whats defined in the files for the missile.

Question for the devs: how is lofting implemented in-game? Is it some sort of simple G bias? Or is it more involved?
-
Just as a side note, the source (at least one) for the 80 sec IIRC is the F-16 -34, which states that after 80 sec the datalink is terminated due to TOF constraints or something like that.
