10nm isnt even Rmax at altitude for these SRMs; for comparisom, the 9Ms Rmax is around 6nm on the deck. By 20kft its already at 10-12 (ive gotten a few kills from that range). And IIRC the PL-5 in DCS is faster than the 9M.

The C does have the edge in CCM (0.04 vs 0.06 iirc) but its not much. Also Id assume you mean 20kts?

Im aware, but do you realize that is is fixed for the other ARH missiles (meaning its not purely a missile issue)? Which is why I suspected that the radar memory mode might have something to do with it, as this only happens in TWS, which tells me that this may not be fully a missile guidance problem, but also related to TWS radar memory mode (and not just on the F-14, but even the F-18 as I said). I know, im not suggesting you guys can do anything about the guidance directly, this is a question about how TWS memory mode affects the guidance, which is pretty clearly working differently from STT, and at least appears to be related to the magic INS bug.
-
So a few days ago me and a squad mate were doing some tests regarding the magic INS issue, and surprisingly, we found that magic INS does not appear to be a factor when the AIM-54 is launched in STT. It only was a factor in TWS. Which reminded me of a bug the hornet has; essentially, the TWS memory mode perfectly tracks the target, so if you set the aging time to say 32 sec, shoot, and turn cold, the missile will guide perfectly off the TWS memory mode track, compensating for target maneuvers for the next 32 sec till it stopped extrapolating. Based on that, I speculated that perhaps that the magic INS on the AIM-54 is caused by (or at least related to) some sort of internal trackfile extrapolating in TWS. So I figured id ask a three questions: how long the the F-14 radar internally extrapolate trackfiles in TWS? And does STT extrapolate targets internally beyond when the player sees the lock dropped? And if so, is the process any different than the extrapolation in TWS? Could be completely wrong here, but thought it was worth asking

Not sure what is meant by "accuracy", but put simply the best two are the A mk.60 and C mk.47. The A mk.60 uses the smoky, but higher performance, mk.60 motor which gives it the most range. The C uses the low-smoke (but less powerful) mk.47 motor. However, the C has a higher resistance to chaff vs the older seeker on the A. The A Mk47 has a smoky, less powerful motor and has the worse seeker so its pretty much the worst.

Can you show a track/tacview of this? As BN said FMs are hardcoded + IC, and youd need to make sure that this isnt lag before claiming people are cheating. Just look at the whole FoH thing.
-
I suppose I could test this, but in case someone happens to know, does this file do anything? From the looks of it, it controls chaff resistance and IR signature vs target aspect. Location is C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Scripts\Database\Weapons for those curious. Will update if I find out anything myself.

"Mutual Support" 2v2 BVR Tournament v3 - 10/17/2020

So i have decided, the F-16 will not fall under rule 16, unless I can find a way to disable link 16 for it. -
Good to know

TMS right does slightly more that that in TWS, it upgrades all track files, then cycles through them.

ECM only affects other FC3 aircraft (and mirage), and SAMs. Does nothing to F-14/16/18 etc. On FC3 jets, it denys the bandit a lock until 22nm; however, he can see your strobe from further away, and can HOJ (which shows the TD box, just no range info. Poor for firing missiles, but you can tell if hes conning etc). As for SAMs it just reduces tracking range afaik. Missiles can HOJ however, but its not that big of a deal as range info is missing. Simply put if either SAMs or other FC3 jets are a threat turn it on. Otherwise keep it off
-
True, but it also means that when you dump the two wing tanks you simply have the CL tank left, which is much better for say BVR than having 2 big wing tanks. Also, it provides a simple way to reduce drag significantly, while not dumping all your external fuel by dumping the wing tanks before they go dry
-
Also, getting below them will boost detection range
-
What you described is default behavior.

"Mutual Support" 2v2 BVR Tournament v3 - 10/17/2020

Im aware, but this would be at least 3 weeks away for the 1990s edition after this so I have no clue whay may/may not change with patches. -
We had this exact issue with a 2v2 BVR comp i hosted a few weeks ago. FC3 jets work fine. But the F-16s and other FF jets refused to arm. Tested in both MP and SP. Heres the mission for anyone interested: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1219eAJbe49FFhM6f4mjqZnlDKv67lTlx/view

Tacview, the ACMI for DCS World – Official Thread
dundun92 replied to Vyrtuoz's topic in DCS Modding
To clarify: Im looking for the aircrafts TAS in a particular direction (in this case, the bearing to the secondary object). So if im at 90° to the secondary object it would be zero. If i am head on is = to my TAS. Also question (im extremely new to this stuff): can calculated values, (specifically the relative bearing), be accessed in an addon? If so, how? -

Question: is it possible to display (for a lack of a better term) one way closure? So rather than combined closure, the closure, but taking into account only one object (e.g, an airplanes closure to a missile, but only taking into account the planes closure, not the missiles). -
Still an issue post patch. Any comments from ED?

Any updates on this? -
But the older stuff is hardly a match for even 90s variants of our DCS aircraft. I dont think anyone here is realistically expecting an Su-35 or smth. Simply a FF Flanker from the 90s w/ properly modeled missile's would be a HUGE improvement over what we have RN.
-
ED included it in the survey actually, they are aware, they just havent seemed to bother with adding it completely. As an example, recently ED added a feature where SCS Down (?) switched the AMPCD from HSI to SA page; little things like that that overall improve HOTAS integration that ED hasnt fuly modeled.

It depends on how "easy" you want your kills tbh. The Mirage forces you to work for kills but its very doable in PvP, esp vs less experienced pilots in airquake. I can say that if you stick with it you will 100% improve your overall SA and tactics, which you can apply to any aircraft. Its a steeper learning curve than say an F-16, but its no joke in PvP.
