Bombing solution seems to use Barometric Altitude only
swartbyron replied to ldnz's topic in Bugs and Problems
I cant understand why the end users are having to solve this problem? Surly the Fulcrum Dev guys know exactly how bombing has been simulated and have already had this double checked by SMEs? All that is necessary is for us to be told how its meant to work and to be given the correct procedure? End users can then confirm that this works as intended, report it if not and if necessary, challenge it if it differs from publicly available information. -
Special attention to ovoid a repetitive feel please.
swartbyron replied to dsc106's topic in Wish List
I would like to respectfully request that OneReTech dedicate particular attention to reducing repetitiveness and the sense of copy-pasting while creating the Balkans map. The Sinai map, which is truly superb, was perhaps the only map so far that had the potential to challenge the exceptional detail, diversity, numerous unique objects and points of interest found in the mighty Urgra Media maps. Regrettably, the repetitive and somewhat copy-pasted appearance of the fields and built-up areas, coupled with unfinished borders and boundaries really let it down. This significantly detracts from the experience and diminishes immersion for many of us. I have always purchased every new map released; however, given the substantial storage requirements for installation, I, along with many other users, will undoubtedly be more selective when buying future maps if they do not at least meet the high standards of the best what we currently have available. Thanks -
No this mod is very out of date especially with the cockpit scripts and functions and it gets worse with every updated ED makes to the F-16. I've tried comparing each file with those of the latest F-16 to add and update any changes myself but really don't know what I'm doing. Holding my breath in hope somebody skilld at editing lua files will make us a temporary fix until the developers resurface.

HSI doesn't tell range, and English altimeter in Russian cockpit
swartbyron replied to Lyrode's topic in Bugs and Problems
VSI and Radar alitimeter are not woking in both English and russian cockpits for me too. AEKRAN tape looks a mess and some times unreadable in the english cockpit only I hope we can have a hot fix for this? Ru_Demo.trk Eng_Demo.trk -
Thank you for this info, the COOP switch forward dose the trick and as long as there is no wind, the bombs fire and hit exactly where the I placed the pipper. The COOP switch has no effect on KMGU however and the system seems treat them as normal dumb bombs except when using pre designate, it seems to take in to account the time it takes for the dispenser to open.
-
Just been testing KMGU and it works very well using “predesignate” putting bomblets nicely either side of the target or either side of the centre vehicle in the column.
-
Not yet as I have never known how to use these correctly. I've had marginal success dropping them down the length of runway with the Su-25 but 99% of time they drift off target with even the slightest wind and always fall very far short even in no wind. Runway denial maybe but how they were meant be accurate enough to destroy a hardened structure I'll never know. If anyone knows how to correctly use the 500Shp, I'm also keen to know.
-
It seems with KMGU there is a delay as the dispenser opens. So when bombing a line of trucks, if I release with the pipper on the first truck the bomblets only fall by the time the pipper has passed it and is usually the second or third truck that get the first packet and the first one is missed. To make sure I get the first truck, I need to drop early before the pipper reaches the first truck. I suppose this is correct as as the CCIP is not taking in account the time it takes for the dispenser to open?

I've just had another few runs on the range in no wind conditions to rule out any effect it may have on the bombs trajectory. FAB,BetAB,OFAB and RBK all land exactly where the pipper is when I release, as long as I'm in release parameters and the laser fires. Its only KMGU where I have to aim short in order to hit the first target in the coloum as they always land long? Before yesterdays patch I had to aim long with everything I dropped. Setting a TGT point in the DTC would help some what but I still had to aim long except in the steepest dives. Post patch it seems I'm still accurate even if I don't set up a TGT point and have a much better consecutive hit rate than I do with the F-16. Personally I'm pleased with the improvement
-
I've just gave it anther try with no TGT point in the DTC, even with my rushed and sloppy technique I dropped on target. Bombing_Demo.trk
-
Did you place a target point in the DTC? Your accuracy improves significantly. How strong is the wind? Ive been dropping on the mark every time in light wind since the update.
-
This has been there for a while and Ive also been meaning to report it. It happens when the visor is up and dissapears when its down.
-
Ive been doing very accurate bombing after yesterdays update. In light wind bombs fall exactly where I place the pipper. Thank you

Not forgetting Take-off assistance, Auto rudder, Rudder pedal trim, Game level G force effects, No wake turbulence, Unrestricted GPS, Easy comms, Invulnerble, Unlimited ammunition and fuel, just to name a few. Neither of these options have ever affected those who what to simulate realism! But a simple request for a legacy SPO-15 as a mission editor option is a step to far? Despite having exactly what is being asked for in the game since its inception.

This is almost certainly your head tracking causing the problem. When you look right, your viewpoint moves forward, and if you look left, your viewpoint will also move aft a little. Try disabling the Z-axis in your tracking software to test. If that solves your problem, you can leave it off or try moving your tracking monitor or have your IR/reflector clip placed top center of your head and not out to one side.

I was wondering if there were any procedures for using the NAV lights for start-up, taxi, and in flight? I realize this will differ between operators, so I was thinking along the lines of how they were intended to be used, so how the Russian's/Soviet's/WP would use them. Flash on the ground and steady in flight, for example? The same for the landing light? Would this be turned on for approach during the day like western aircraft do?

Again, it’s just an option being asked for here. An option won’t hurt or affect anybody’s realism or take away anything from the SPO-15 modelling we have now. It could be off by default and could be enforced off by the mission creator, so it won’t put anyone at a disadvantage. 4ya servers have their labels, others have them enforced off. Some have external views; others make sure it a as real as it gets experience and enforce them off. It could be the same for a legacy SPO-15 option and would keep everyone happy.

Spawn in to any popular server and all the Flaming cliffs players have basic bearing, search, lock and launch warning information. Spawn in to any popular server and every AI MiG-29 both FC and FF have basic bearing, search, lock and launch warning information and behave and react accordantly. Its only those players in the new MiG-29 with the click able cockpit that happens to have the dodgy SPO-15 that are the only ones without this vital information and left handicapped. Realistic, maybe but not what Eagle Dynamics games have been about for the concomitantly for over 20 years. All those those training missions, watching all those videos and reading all those articles and then practising how to fly advanced BVR, SEAD and missile evasion in the MiG-29 are useless now as they all relied heavily on information supplied by the RWR. Skills I learnt flying the MiG-29 in Flanker 2.5 that I then applied in Lock On and then applied for years in DCS I can no longer use in the latest full fidelity MiG-29. No missions or servers are set up with the the FF MiG in mind and neither are the missions that ship with this module to be honest. While a small percentage of the community were hoping for rivet 456A that came lose after pulling 4G to be modelled in exacting detail. *The rest of us were just waiting for click able version of the aircraft we have spent so may hours learning to fly and perfect and to continue flying it in the manor that we always have and using the skills we have built in ED games over the years. I love our new FF MiG-29, its a dream come true to an old flight simmer like me and it is an absolute pleasure to fly. When it comes to fighting with it and playing the game DCS as I've played it for years, I feel lost, confused and helpless with this new SPO-15

I’ve tried to fly the MiG-29 on a few popular servers this morning and had a constant lock tone from start up to shut down! Can’t it tell if I’m being locked up by an enemy SAM or aircraft since I’ve had a constant lock tone and all bands flashing since I flipped the power switch on the SPO-15 while still in the blocks back at base. Even friendly Tu-95 vaguely pointed in my direction gives me a constant lock with its AG radar from nearly 200 nm away along with the friendly A-50. BVR is impossible against anything that can shoot Fox 1 or 3 because I can’t notch or evade as I cant tell the difference between search, lock, launch or the overwhelming signal emitting from something friendly miles away. SEAD is impossible against anything except short-range IR. Any kind of situational awareness is just impossible. Is that my wingman locking me or an F-14 100 miles away? Maby he hasn’t locked me and is just searching but my SPO-15 being as cleaver as it is thinks he has locked me? Do I evade his search anyway? Is that still the friendly SAM at home base locking me, or perhaps it’s the Tu-95 or AWACS on the other side of the map? Just a local radio station perhaps? Maybe a traffic officer with a radar gun in the village on the horizon for all I know as they are bound to set this thing this off. Do I evade or ignore it? Boom! I guess I should have evaded this time. I find it really hard to swallow that a 1980’s MiG-29 had such a useless RWR installed and just want my old faithful SPO-15 that gives me bearing, search, lock and launch indications restored so I can play DCS in my new clickable MiG-29.
