Ah thank you so much! I've just tested this and I think I understand how its meant to work now. In return mode, the blunt end of the yellow needle is pointing you at the RSBN at the airfield while the larger white needle and the circle in the HUD tries to to get you in position and on the course to intercept the localizer and glide path. Once the NAV computer finds the localizer, it switches to landing mode and the yellow needle begins to search for the outer marker beacon also with the blunt end according to what channel you have your ADF radio set too. Once passing the outer marker beacon it will automatic switch to the inner unless you have selected it first and do a 180 once you have passed the beacon. You need to be landing using the runway the tower assigns you to use, or the beacons at the opposite end of the runway will be turned on and the needle will be homed in on one of them. This is also important to remember when setting up the landing direction when using the placeable RSBN/ PRMG cars and selecting the runway in the DTC! So you are meant to have both the inner and outer marker beacons set up in one of the channels on the ADF radio for the airfield you want to land at but landing using RSBN/PRMG, its not necessary. The system is set up to switch to ADF anyway for airfields without landing aids and only marker beacons and can be back up for PRMG failure I suppose. If you happen to have the ADF radio set up for another NDB or maker beacon at a nearby field in range, it will point to that. So if it cant find the signal of the channel and corresponding frequency you have the ADF set to, the needle will just spin endlessly searching.

I also have the yellow indicator needle spinning but only on the Syria map. Stetting up RSBN/PGRM cars on Kola, and Caucasus, the needle holds steady after switching to landing mode. No matter what airbase I set up the RSBN/PGRM cars on the Syria map, the needle spins once landing mode kicks in.

Well its here ️ This is what we all dreamed of while flying the MiG-29 all those years ago in Flanker 2.5

The visor feels like I'm looking through dirty plastic. It's okay when looking outside but really hazy when looking down into the cockpit. While this is likely to be a true representation of the real life visor, I still would prefer a clear filter that darkens without the hazy blur. I've managed to clean up the 2D visor roughmet myself and quite pleased with the results. Its for the 2D version of the visor only and doesn't affect the visor in VR. Here is the link, if anyone wants to give it a try. MiG-29A Fulcrum Visor Cleaner

Weather mod v2.0 for DCS
swartbyron replied to bandit648's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Its meant to break IC because core files are modified. If you want to fly a server with this mod installed, you need to choose one that doesn't require pure textures or client. If you want to see the clouds in this mod when flying on line, you'll have to join a server that hosts this mod. A mod manager like OVGME or JSGME can have this mod uninstalled in seconds if you want to fly a server with IC check and back in just as quickly when your done.- 456 replies

From a low level helicopter perspective the textures look pixilated and low in resolution in comparison to its counterpart, Afghanistan which is being developed along side Iraq. The field textures in particular look just like blurry satellite imagery with a lot of excessive noise thrown in to try and disguise the low detail textures. Flying fast through the mountains of North-Eastern Iraq, or tanking at high altitude this map is absolute superb. On rout to target with a helicopter on the other hand just makes me want to end the mission and fly anther map. Despite being developed at the same time and also by Eagle Dynamics, the Afghanistan map is far more detailed and seems in much higher resolution at low level compared to Iraq to me. The fields are especially convincing, lush with deep colours and definition but still blend in beautifully with the photo real look at altitude. There were a lot of complaints bout the state of Afghanistan at low level on first release and the developers absolute pulled it out all the stops to improve things and it is now for me at least the most convincing map ED has released not using all synthetic textures. Can we expect the Iraq map to receive the same level of detail at low level in the future for Iraq or is this the best detail achievable for this area for other reasons? I realise peoples perspectives differ, artistic styles differ between developers and that products will differ according to the technology available to the developers at the time. With both these maps being developed side by side and both by Eagle Dynamics, I hope we will see both maps up to the same standards.

Thank you for you for giving this map continued love and attention Ugra Media.

Its a real shame that at least the texturing cant be finished and brought up to at least the same standards as what the community is producing. Especially if the 99% work is already done and offered by the community for free. I would would be more than happy to pay for a F-5E style update if that's the way ED prefer to go.

Our F-16 3D model and textures are really showing their age compared to the latest modules. Some still feel we have a rushed and unfinished product on the artwork and 3D side of things. I hope that the reluctance to include community liverys is a sign that work is being done in house to improve things.

AN-AAQ-33 - Maverick not staying boresited with TGP
swartbyron replied to swartbyron's topic in Bugs and Problems
Thanks for replying TMS down dose indeed work to bring the Maverick back on track. This step wasn't needed with the previous TGP and now seems to be an extra step that needs to be taken before shooting a maverick unless flying straight and level. Comparing the behaviour of the Maverick when the weapon page is SOI in both tracks shows the difference between both TGP's clearly. I guess what I'm really asking is if this is set up this way as intended or a bug with the new TGP? -
Unlike the old AN-AAQ-28, with the new AN-AAQ-33 the maverick is not staying boresited with the TGP when making the Weapon page SOI. In other words it seems there is no ground stabilisation unless the TGP page is SOI? Seems to make PRE mode kind of pointless? If you watch the AN-AAQ-33 track file you can see the maverick wander off every time I make the weapon page SOI then snap back when making the TGP SOI and in the AN-AAQ-28 track file, it holds where the TGP is looking no matter what. Campaign for DCS OH-58D: "Through the desert dust"
swartbyron replied to YoYo's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
I've experienced the same problem. The AI wingman doesn't like it if you hover taxi forward and decides to land and shutdown. If it happens just restart the mission and try again. I got him to follow me by taking off vertically and doing a 180 and flying directly out from the parking spot and then picking up the route.- 115 replies

Campaign for DCS OH-58D: "Through the desert dust"
swartbyron replied to YoYo's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
You can indeed play this campaign in multiplayer, but at the risk of something breaking or not being synchronized. You don’t need to edit anything; just launch the mission you want to fly in multiplayer, and it will automatically set the player and copilot slot to client. It’s very important that both the pilot and copilot slots are occupied and that you are both spawned in the cockpit with textures loaded before the host unpauses the mission!- 115 replies

Campaign for DCS OH-58D: "Through the desert dust"
swartbyron replied to YoYo's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
This would help a lot and at least you can fly and land only to find you have 80% score for missing 3 trucks but passed because you accomplished the main objective. Currently if you turn immediately with the Blackhawk in mission 2, you miss the turnpoint trigger by a few feet breaking the rest of mission there after. As Zarma says, in Mission 3, if there is just one unit remaining of the group, the mission wont progress until its destroyed even though the convoy is safe an on its way. It would be nice to fly the rest of the mission, have the music play and land but receive a lower score for not destroying all the units. Thanks for taking onboard our feedback, looking forward to the rest of the campaign.- 115 replies

Campaign for DCS OH-58D: "Through the desert dust"
swartbyron replied to YoYo's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
Great campaign so far! Well put together with a great story line, and I do feel like I’ve been flying some of the missions described in the Scouts Out book. Negatives I’ve found are that if you miss a trigger, all progress stops, and there doesn’t seem to be any failsafe in place to prompt you or keep the mission rolling. Reflected and Baltic Dragon do a good job in this regard. I also feel it’s not realistic to have to kill every soldier and destroy every vehicle in a group for the mission to process when the primary goal is only for a convoy to survive or make it to its destination for example. Some of the English dialogue phrasing and wording is a little off and sounds a little comical at times but I quickly got used to it. You can tell a lot of hours have been spent building the campaign, well done and thank you for sharing it with us. The Scouts Out Deadly accurate gunnery using the IZLID laser- 115 replies
