  1. I believe he was inquiring about the X-52 Pro's built-in multi-function display, not TM Cougar MFDs.
  2. Severum, I don't know enough about you, or your family, to give you the wisest input. To answer your question, yes, I think your dad is reacting poorly. I don't know if it results from his business not doing as well as he wants, his relationship with you, his relationship with your Aunt & Uncle, something else, or some complex mixture of those. I do feel safe in concluding that his priorities need re-evaluating. As adults, we all have to make choices. We decide what matters most to us, and then hopefully base our actions upon what is right and wrong, and best in light of our priorities. Sadly, being flawed and complex creatures, we don't always get it right. Even more sad is that some people have far less capacity to deal well with it when it happens. While I do not really disagree with your assessment of your father's behavior, I will point out that telling a parent that they are behaving immaturely will almost never get you the desired results. (In their eyes, you haven't paid the dues that they have, and therefor have no standing to tell them that.) Generally speaking, you're usually better off to just 'hold your fire' and 'walk away'. How long you stay away following that, comes down to choices you make about your own priorities, and how the other party behaves in the aftermath. For dealing with other people in a civilized society (not just family), there is a very important concept to get a firm grasp upon... There is a distinction between being truthful and being forthright. To elaborate, you can be truthful without necessarily speaking the *entire* truth. And there are times in life when that is useful. Generally, as you move through your life into greater responsibilities and more consequential relationships (ie. employment, marriage, child rearing), it's usefulness comes into play more often. Being truthful is a worthy goal to aspire to. Being forthright can frequently end up being an expensive extravagance. Applying that to your described situation... If improving the situation with your father matters to you, then give some consideration to what you want to say to him, when he is finally in a calm, receptive state. (Dealing with him while he is agitated is unlikely to accomplish anything of value). If there is anything you regret / want to apologize for, then say it. If not, then don't. I would suggest you refrain from making judgemental statements about his behavior, unless he opens that door and is obviously receptive to a frank discussion on the subject. As satisfying as it might at the time feel to vent at him, it is worth remembering that building/maintaining a relationship isn't just about how *you* feel. In relationships the other party's thoughts and feeling matter too. If you are trying to help steer them into a better place, then you have to remain mindful of their thoughts and feelings while you are dealing with them. Executive summary: You can't control your dad. You presumably can control yourself. Decide what your priorities are, and then conduct yourself accordingly. I wish you the best of luck. (Just remember the luck you make yourself is the kind that is most often available.)
  3. Glad to hear that you're in business, no matter how weird the route to success was. ;) Enjoy!!!
  4. HandoKardaan, when you reinstalled the same version drivers, did you do it from the same files that you already had, or did you download fresh copies? You don't want to re-use the files tthat you originally installed from, in case there was some sort of file corruption. The USB port / powered hub issues that ilikepie raised are definitely worth checking out, as well. Another possible approach on the driver issue... check to see what Microsoft has for drivers for the X-52 Pro. If they have drivers for it, theirs might work better for you.
  5. Things to try with your Win 7 machine... 1. Disconnect your X-52 from the PC 2. Uninstall whatever Saitek driver and SST software you have now. 3. If you know how to *properly* use Regedit (Registry Editor *** DANGER, Will Robinson, DANGER!!! ***), remove the registry references to your X-52, drivers and SST software. 4. Decide whether to re-attempt installing the latest drivers and SST software for the X-52, or locate an earlier version for your Win 7 64 bit. If you decide to re-install the latest, set your current install files aside, and download new ones. Make sure you do the install in the Saitek recommended order (ie. connect the controller when the instructions tell you to, etc.) 5. If you tried the latest again, and still got bad results, repeat steps 1 through 3, then do step 4 with an earlier version of the Saitek drivers and SST. Good luck Mr. Phelps! Should you, or any of your IM team hopelessly screw up your Windows 7 machine, Saitek will undoubtedly disavow any knowledge of your actions. This posting will self destruct in 5 seconds. :bomb:
  6. This probably isn't the solution, and sounds dumb to boot... but I remember seeing something before (I don't remember if it was BlackShark, or Saitek related, but one of them...) where for a key command that would be Left Control + 1, it was listed in the table or chart backwards, as 1 + Left Control. Maybe try reversing what your sending.
  7. Lucid has developed special chip sets (Hydra) for getting nVidia and AMD based graphics cards to work together. Versions of Lucid Hydra have been incorporated into several motherboards (some may be available, some probably are not at this time...) http://www.lucidlogix.com/whereto_buy.html That could be pretty cool for some people, but I don't know that it would be helpful for some folks that are trying to save money... it could depend quite a bit on what you already have that you can transfer over...
  8. I don't know if those cards can be made to live together in peace, or not. I'd be leary of trying to get drivers for those different brands to co-exist on the same machine. If you have a second machine that the nVidia 9600GTX can live in, Helios can do at least some stuff over a network connection... Otherwise, maybe buy a lower-end, yet ATI compatible card for the machine that has the 5970. The following was in a thread about doing Crossfire with different revision cards, but you may find the information useful in other ways... http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3134280/Re_Can_you_Crossfire_two_diffe.html#Post3134280 While you are not looking to do crossfire, it could be a good indication of which other ATI cards could co-exist in the same machine with your 5970.
  9. Headspace, I would say the thread was actually Yoda's, since LEAVU is his creation. The posting that I refrenced was just suggesting a concept of making the Export more granular so that server admins could have choices between the "all or nothing" situation that exists now. I would imagine such an implentation would have to come from E.D. As I pointed out, such a change, if it is feasible to code, would potentially disrupt some things in the short term. I suspect the long term benefits would make it worthwhile, but that is something that E.D. is in a far better position to judge, than I am.
  10. That would definitely not be a good thing... Since we are getting into discussing issues that came up during LEAVU's development, I'll just throw a pointer in here to something I suggested (a more granular approach to export functions) a little over a year ago. Maybe it will appear more worthwhile in light of this new Teamspeak integration project... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=794037
  11. Hi Sokol1, The original question that I replied to was about how many "BU0836X cards" could be attached. For standard USB game controllers, you would have to look at how many USB devices they function as (ie. I believe at least one current HOTAS on the market is 'seen' as more than one USB device). As for the "BU0836X cards", each one of them is a USB device. It *is* the game controller, even though you may have a number of input devices wired up to it. As far as I know (and I could be wrong), we are still limited to 127 USB devices on a computer. I'm not aware of an OS or computer limit of 16 Direct Input devices. Back in 2004, a Microsoft employee replied to a question about it here :
  12. In another thread, Wags asked people to wait for the next A-10C beta version.
  13. As I understand it, each card is seen by the Operating System as a unique device. IIRC, you are limited to 127 USB devices. USB hubs count as USB devices too, so subtract whatever existing devices you have/plan, and any needed additional hubs, to see how much room you have left. Basically, you can attach more BU0836X cards than you are likely to need, let alone afford. Short of building something on the order of a commercial nuclear power plant control room simulator, you should be good to go. ;)
  14. That boom mic-only rig is one I have recommended in the past, from experience, for speaker users. I have seen some folks sing praises for using non-mic'd headphones in combination with this Zalman clip-on mic: http://www.google.com/search?q=Zalman+Microphone+Zm-Mic1&rls=com.microsoft:*&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&startIndex=&startPage=1 http://www.amazon.com/Zalman-Microphone-Zm-Mic1-Sensitivity-Headphone/dp/B00029MTMQ/ref=dp_cp_ob_e_title_1 It looks like a pretty good solution for folks who are very demanding about their headphone's sound quality, etc. They can pick whatever headphone they prefer, and just clip the mic on to the cord within reasonable proximity of their mouth.
  15. Hmmm... Well, if it is happening to you, it has probably been a problem for other people before. You might want to check Natural Point's forums to see if anyone has addressed it in there.
  16. http://www.thommos.com/miscfiles/Parts_Cougar.pdf http://cougar.flyfoxy.com/warranty_parts.php Does that help?
  17. If you don't want to bother with selling them off, you might want to consider donating them to a library. That's a higher value way to recycle them. ;)
  18. An *excellent* book! Sgt. Hathcock was a special guy, and a real patriot. The story about the mission to take out an NVA General was worth the price of the book, all by itself.
  19. Kuky's suggestion about putting the Track IR behind your head is a good one, assuming you are not using some sort of high backed seat that would block it. The other easy way to get rid of the reflection problem associated with your prescription eye wear is to use a TrackClip Pro instead of the reflectors. That way, you are sending the IR light away from your head, toward a passive TrackIR unit.
  20. From what I recall seeing on forums, Leo is not particularly diligent about checking and responding to e-mail, but is good about following through on shipping sold items. I've also seen reports on more than one occasion of him going the extra mile when it comes to things like replacing a defective component, or flashing something special for somebody. I hope you get your BU0836s soon!
  21. Here's another source of programmable keyboards, etc. http://www.xkeys.com/xkeys.php I don't know how they compare, but I know some of their offerings get used by flight simmers.
  22. Thanks for clearing that up! A bit obscure for a thread title choice, but I guess we'll survive it. :)
  23. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laura_Branigan I have no clue as to how the project relates to her... (or anyone else by the same name...)

  25. The situation on adapters for this has been evolving, making it even harder to get to the truth of the matter. Straight from the horses mouth: http://support.amd.com/us/eyefinity/Pages/eyefinity-dongles.aspx
