  1. Yes you need NWS; Nose Wheel Steering ON, else you'll not be able to maintain centreline and end up in the scenery.
  2. Res of cockpit displays also affects the mirrors, so you could get some extra frames as buffer by dropping that to 512. Shadows you may not notice too much difference while occupied with flying by having those at low. Anistropic filtering has been something that I rarely ever find impacting on FPS, so you could probably bump that upto 16x. Preload radius could also be bumped upto the max, possibly, as this is I believe more connected to RAM than anything else, at least worth experimenting with, because if you can raise this it'll reduce stutter induced by loading in terrain. Strait of Hormuz; I've noticed that it benefits a fair bit by residing on SSD, if you have that available: then DoIt™.
  3. Yep, I failed to state; it is very much worth it right now (I bought it full price) it is the best simulated representation of a VSTOL jet aircraft in the public domain, to my knowledge. On listening to actual fliers of the AV-8, even going back to pilots that flew the GR designated series (when England still had them in our fleet) you can fly it to their numbers quite readily, NATOPS is great but sometimes it's nicer to hear from the drivers perspective.
  4. The outstanding features in the works that are of note to me, are arbitrary waypoint entry on the UFC scratchpad, (you can add waypoints already, but only from the mission editor) and the VREST; VSTOL, range, endurance, speed, and time computer. There are some other minor details that don't really affect the pleasure of flying the AV-8, but for me would be fun features to have work, the Heuer stopwatch and clock (these beauties are really expensive and rare IRL) and some other things that don't come to mind right now.
  5. I purchased the FC3 module recently, - this is after having owned and spent hours on several high fidelity modules and nor have I used anything from FC3 since, though I intent to spend some time with the F-15. I think what compelled me to get FC3 is just out of completeness sake.
  6. The Harrier is such a beautifully unique airframe, that this one is worth digging in for, though I already own it. I just bought the Huey a moment ago and I'm blaming gavagai.
  7. If you can connect it via USB 3.0, (not counting an adaptor) then it'll be reasonably quick, not as quick as SATAIII or through a PCIe lane, but much faster then USB 2.0 (which also has the issue of half-duplex which will harm figures further).
  8. I think (but don't know for sure) that pilot bodies are implemented per module, so that any potential gesture system would also be modelled and coded per module.
  9. It will be bottle-necked by a USB connection, especially if it's USB 2.0, ideally you'd connect it internally, via say SATA, PCIe etc.
  10. Yup, octas.
  11. I'm in agreement, also on pondering about operations whilst on-deck, most if not all hand gestures are for ground crew, we currently don't have any human playable position for marshalling and though I'm sure there'd be plenty who'd love to fill that slot on MP, priorities exist. Totally willing to see other viewpoints though, if someone has a compelling reason why such a thing should exist. I do also know that hand gestures are used for signalling your wing, but due to our simulated chair-force limitations that's probably not going to be easy for most of us to see, let alone get the subtle nuances of a middle-finger to an index.
  12. No, but some evidence of it being implemented are there, I had a play around with it a moment ago and the ODU options and colons are now in place, stoked.
  13. This is not the first time someone put the idea out there, but I happened across these posts from 2013 and the response made me smirk; https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1705405&postcount=1 https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1705577&postcount=2 To my mind they are more useful in ground-based milsims, but the mention of carrier ops might make it more useful than just flipping people off whilst in a 4G inverted dive, or friendly-in-Cherno-wiggle, so are pilot gestures on your wishlist?
  14. From RAZBAM's FB page; Some initial parts of this appear to have made it into the recent patch, but entry and save isn't showing yet. Looking good though, progress is being made.
  15. The gents had mentioned the ability to add waypoints via UFC scratchpad, preliminary test and I cannot do so, though some navigation related updates do appear to be in, some things appear a little more verbose, fewer placeholder things.
  16. Understood, and on the rendering engine change being recent hopefully we'll see some improvements soon regarding day/night transition. Look forward to seeing the "balls-o'clock" recoveries, might jump in for some of those myself.
  17. I do understand why some servers don't set nighttime, or have server start/restart times coincide with before sunrise/after sunset, so it's a real shame when it's negated entirely; the AV-8B NA is fit for it, so I feel we Harrier drivers ought to get a look in for such operations on popular servers. Occasional nighttime would get my vote, at least enough to run a sortie or two.
  18. Sea Harrier FRS.1
  19. Uh-oh, shots fired, where's the Iron Lady when we need her?!
  20. I love that it carries Hurn's designation, I wonder if they'd considered transferring it at the time as that Mk.58 shows as permanently withdrawn from service. Several entries on CAA site for it, presumably as it was on other airframes.
  21. Falkland Islands is great news, olde news but great to see that it's still on the board. I wonder if it'll include a portion of Chile and Argentina?
  22. :doh:I suspect that a few folks sarcasm/jest indicators are bent, contact the Crew Chief.
  23. As of this post, for the curious, the following versions were available for download to a subscriber w/ a 3D Studio Max 2019 licence; Autodesk® 3DS Max 2018 Autodesk® 3DS Max 2017 Autodesk® 3DS Max 2016 Autodesk® 3DS Max 2018 with Softimage** Autodesk® 3DS Max 2017 with Softimage** Autodesk® 3DS Max 2016 with Softimage** Autodesk® 3DS Max Design 2015 Autodesk® 3DS Max Design 2014 ** Available as a previous version only to Autodesk 3ds Max subscriptions switched from maintenance plan seats for Autodesk 3ds Max with Softimage.
  24. That was the page I was after, thank you, I'd almost found a route to it that was unfortunately broken by a dead link. I'll report this to Autodesk**. ** Reported to Autodesk, Case 14344610.
  25. In persevering with attempting to answer the above question, I found the following which took me to a 404 not found portion of Autodesks' labyrinthine website; I've included the dead link for completeness and incase it works for others, though it's a server-side error that shows so I doubt it. So my question stands but now also includes this second question; If you own, or purchased a licence from 2018 for 3DStudio Max, is the option to download and install 2016 open to you?
