  1. hello. not sure if it helps. although i have no need to boot into safe mode for windows, i am running the latest geforce driver 581.15 for my 3090. no issues with DCS. note that some game titles are checking the system before installing their application. most recently for me was BF6 beta. i have always kept on the latest nvidia all along, and never had DCS problems. but again, i have not needed to boot to safe mode.
  2. hello this is likely a problem with your ISP or your own network equipment. it is not a system wide issue with DCS updates. the VPN cleans up DNS issues. it probably means your locally provided DNS is not the best. no offense. it happens to many users from all over. too many to count. i suggest you post your latest autoupdate_log.txt found in the DCS install folder. also test using ping and nslookup of cdn.digitalcombatsimulator.com try disabling your antivirus and firewall, checking your Windows hosts file for any incorrect entries, ensuring your computer's date, time, and time zone are correct.
  3. hello both files you mentioned are core windows files ntoskrnl.exe or ntoskrnl.sys Hardware Abstraction: How the operating system interacts with the computer's hardware. Process Management: Handling the creation and management of running programs. Memory Management: Allocating and managing system memory for all processes. Security: Containing the security reference monitor for system security functions. Wdf01000.sys is a Windows driver file that belongs to the Windows Driver Framework (WDF), which hosts other device drivers like USB devices, Bluetooth, or graphics. loads on those two files is not surprising. but problems can also introduce BSODs. my suggestion is to run SFC /scannow https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/use-the-system-file-checker-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system-files-79aa86cb-ca52-166a-92a3-966e85d4094e also check to see if there are any updates to the WINWING and associated drivers.
  4. hello it could be drive space. keep the saved games folder you noted. this is the most important. DCS itself can be repaired from any condition. no need to reinstall. the backup folders are customized files that are moved to backup. these are seen as mods and are replaced by the standard files. my suggestion is wait until you get your drive and install it to the point Windows knows it is there. then come back and we can get the rest sorted. i needed a new drive. i went from 2 TB to a 4 TB. i cloned it with Acronis. Windows never knew the difference. it may cost a little but the avoided headaches will be worth it.
  5. most definitely. many people will consider posting on a solved, or a really old topic, bad etiquette. it is always best to post a new topic. even if it seems to be the same issue. you will have better success.
  6. hello. your computer is getting DNS automatically from your DHCP server. likely your router. change your DNS to static and use 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 to test. the IP you received for CDN is incorrect. this is for WIN10 but is essentially the same steps. https://www.windowscentral.com/how-change-your-pcs-dns-settings-windows-10 share output of IPCONFIG /ALL from command prompt.
  7. hello have you cleared your metadata2 and fxo folders? maybe run a slow repair? also. doubt it will matter but change your shortcut to E:\DCS World\bin\ \bin-mt\ will be eventually deprecated. edit: 2025-08-27 18:24:20.265 INFO EDCORE (11060): E:\DCS World\bin-mt\metaShader.dll is the crashing DLL.
  8. Glad to help. You can retrieve your inputs. Find them in the original folder. They we be folder within for each aircraft. Just copy them to the new folder allowing overwrite.
  9. ok. close DCS. rename the DCS.Openbeta folder in Saved Games to DCS.Openbeta.OLD. rerun DCS. a new folder will be created. see if DCS will open.
  10. @2Tone - the last image is problems with VR. it may be caused by another application that is getting the forefront. also it could be SteamVR affecting OpenXR. another thing it could be is to set DCS to full screen. currently you have it set false. find options.lua in saved games and make a copy of it. then open the original, make the change to the following line. ['fullScreen'] = false; to ['fullScreen'] = true; then retry. edit. look in the folder c:/users/tony/saved games/dcs.openbeta/config
  11. i recently read a story about just this role for the f-14. https://theaviationgeekclub.com/seal-jtac-explains-why-the-navy-f-14-tomcat-crews-were-the-best-for-close-air-support-only-matched-by-those-of-usmc-f-a-18ds/
  12. hello. please post your DCS.LOG from a session where the problem occurs.
  13. change the shortcut to match your values Target: "C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin\DCS_updater.exe" Start in: "C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World" yes. there is only one version. it is multithread. the BIN-MT folder is going to be deprecated. use the BIN folder. ED kept it so the shortcuts everyone used would not break. you can also browse in Explorer to where the install folder is, find DCS_updater.exe, right click, create shortcut. then drag it to your desktop of taskbar. it is safe to delete the other shortcuts.
  14. the DCS has deprecated the MT folder. Bin and BIN-MT are the same. its been several updates since that has happened. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/news/changelog/release/2.9.8.1107/ DCS application. Single Thread version of DCS removed, bin folder now contains MT DCS and is duplicated in mt-bin for backward compatibility with shortcuts and will be removed soon.
  15. hello long load time? the DCS.LOG you shared does not show anything past line 32. i see you are opening the shortcut in bin-mt folder. 2025-08-22 22:00:26.570 INFO EDCORE (Main): Loaded S:/DCS World/DCS World/bin-mt/edWebViewBrowser.dll make your shortcut "S:\DCS World\bin\DCS_updater.exe" retry. you need to wait until it gets to main menu.
  16. hello the shortcut should be Target: "C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\DCS_updater.exe" Start in: "C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta" your folder may be different. for sure you should be running everything from BIN. BIN and MT are the same files now and defaults as multithread.
  17. hello. you both should start your own topic in case your issue causes are different. post you DCS.LOG in the new topic.
  18. Not sure if this is your thought max. this is one of the several i know. https://github.com/Benisgo/Symbolic11

  20. hello again, the servers are not having any issues as far as i know. if there was a system-wide problem, the forums would be blowing up. 00000.337 ERROR: Conection to server 'cdn.digitalcombatsimulator.com' failed: SSL connect error open a command prompt while VPN is in use and perform the command "nslookup cdn.digitalcombatsimulator.com" nslookup cdn.digitalcombatsimulator.com Server: dns.google Address: 8.8.8.8 Non-authoritative answer: Name: 1231349722.rsc.cdn77.org Addresses: 2a02:6ea0:e200::36 2a02:6ea0:e200::37 2a02:6ea0:e200::17 109.61.91.194 109.61.91.197 109.61.91.231 Aliases: cdn.digitalcombatsimulator.com you should see similar results. please post your results here.
  21. ooooo! sorry to hear that.
  22. did you by chance make a manual edit to your HOST file located in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc? probably not since the hostname is resolving to the correct IP address. not sure how easy it would be but you could try to get your ISP involved.
  23. i personally upgraded recently and had no issues. i think there was a tad better performance.
  24. welcome back. rename the DCS folder within Saved Games to DCS.BAK. Restart DCS and see if DCS will start. a new DCS folder will be created. if DCS runs, great. then you can grab your INPUTS folder from the backup DCS folder.
  25. hello. try Disable hotplug in settings. or if not using, close trackir software from taskbar before going into DCS.
