rs4734 Fun With the P-51D & DCS software
silverdevil replied to rs4734's topic in Installation Problems
the problem you are having is likely a control bindings problem. at least it sounds like it. how long has it been since you used DCS? word of note. one never really has to reinstall DCS. an update and a repair will fix everything in the DCS installation. the repair does not affect the Saved Games\DCS folder. something within that folder structure could be causing problems. you can also upload your DCS.LOG to be examined. -
you are welcome and no problem. come back if the issues persist.

neither log really shows anything useful about freezing. SC could be causing an issue i suppose.

hello. the log file you provided does not show a crash. it shows "2024-02-04 17:02:44.506 INFO APP (Main): application shutdown" look in the folder LOGs where you got this and grab the newest ZIP that is named like this "dcs.log-20200927-183718.zip" with the date in the file name. also turn on extensions in explorer https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-enable-hidden-file-extensions-in-Windows.html

hello you should post a new topic to assist you to solve why the crash is happening. why you cannot send the crash logs is a less important issue. read this post.

roger. i tried to load your mission. i was able to spawn in F-16. here is my DCS.LOG dcs.log my %temp% had some remnants from the mission in the mission\l10n folder. LUAs.
-
bonjour flappie. you may already know this. sometimes when an app is run as an admin, appdata for the app can be saved under another profile. it really depends on the app. @Nealius i downloaded your mission and am going to try it on my rig. as flappie and i discussed in another post, in a perfect world, the %temp%\dcs.openbeta folder should be devoid of files except two empty folders, a track file, and a mission file. the contents you provided has a temp LUA referring to MOOSE. perhaps this is causing an issue.

Multi-threading is still extremely unstable on my machine
silverdevil replied to Red_Pilot's topic in Game Performance Bugs
rename your scripts folder. error happened just before the crash in the zip from today. it is recommended to use SSD whether it fixed your issues or not. i would also recommend trying DCS without IKARUS. although IKARUS is not mentioned in the logs. -

hello first thing is i would recommend moving DCS to an SSD drive. then run a repair. also rename export.lua to something for backup. i do not think you need to have MIG-19 in that file. dcs.log just abruptly ends so that is odd. dcs.log.old ends without a crash. in the saved games\dcs\logs folder, do you see a file called something like dcs.log-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXX.zip? if so post that file. -
my noob f16 problem, datalink and landing

you can always ask to repair and you will get statement saying the repair was completed. it does not mean your jet was really damaged. what indication did you receive that made you think there was damage? -
Yes. As I said in my most recent post, that file is in the config.OLD folder. Not in the config folder. DCS would not start completely until I renamed the config folder. Also I said that I was prompted for a password whereas usually I have auto login clicked. This was an indication that the config folder was corrupted.

thanks for the comments all more evidence. i found that there was one file, appSettings.lua (atached to this post) was created after BSOD and being stuck in black screen. this file does not exist in the working co nfig folder. appSettings.lua appSettings.lua

Hello, I am at work at the moment working on a server issue. However I can get a look at the DMP later. I am certain that the video editor clipchamp started the issue. It seems to me that the two apps were not happy with each other running together. The GeForce notification popping up when I ran clipchamp gave me a hint. Everything is fine now. I thought I could add my experience to the record. It seemed a lot like other users' experiences with black screen issues. I will post more info when it's available. Thanks for the reply.

hello all, i wanted to submit a report of an experience i had with DCS. i literally never have any issues. i decided to start to edit videos for myself. i downloaded clipchamp. free; why not. After installation, the first sign of trouble was when the gforce experience notification popped up when i opened the app. Messed around for a little. Then i ran DCS and i immediately noticed video artefacts. gray blinking squares on my second monitor. DCS opened and hung. then i got a BSOD. VIDEO SCHEDULER INTERNAL ERROR. i restarted DCS and I was prompted for my password. I have always had autologin. Started getting thinking my config folder was corrupted somehow. sure enough DCS would not start. task manager showed DCS stuck at about 2 GB memory. it stopped gaining memory at this point and was stuck at a black screen. I had to close DCS with task manager. thankfully i had a backup of my config folder (DCS Witching Utility to the rescue). i restarted DCS and it was like it had never happened. I just wanted to share. I do not believe this was only a DCS problem, but it was involved in the problem.

hello. i watched your video. i saw a couple problems. your speed was pretty good. your AOA was good. but you did not gently flare just before touchdown. and the nose went down to ground at 145 knots. that is WAY too fast. work on flare technique. your gun pipper should be pointing at 13 degrees on hud until about 100 knots. -
another idea for you. rename your \Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\Input to input.BAK. this should set everything to default.

sysadmin here. what happens is defender comes on any windows computer. if one installs a legit AV, it turns off the defender AV. if the security product has a firewall software, it also turns off defender. defender is as good as anything else IMO. especially if it is free. after all MS know what is out there trying to affect windows so they know what to do with defender.
