hello. it does look like you have the latest c++. installed when you patched. perhaps try this. rename your whole DCS folder in Saved Games to DCS.bak. then run DCS again from the BIN folder (this folder will eventually go away) to see if a new DCS folder is created and launcher opens. it it works you can copy your control bindings from the old folder to the new folder. also post up your options.lua. this file apparently is changed when DCS is ran. not sure why.

Is it possible to (easily) chance DCS installation location?
silverdevil replied to ricnunes's topic in Installation Problems

i would be concerned that you cannot open your AV.

RL evidence does not show anything other than f-15c action. and fine points about mode is not mentioned. the radars AN/APG-63 and AN/APG-65 are the two radars in the DCS jets.

that may be a symptom. check windows events for anything. have you restarted your computer? also, check to see if you have fast startup enabled. depending on how you restart, the computer could still be in the same state as it was before the restart. so some problems are not rectified.

my example is still considered an air to air kill being that both AC were in the air. with a few minutes of you searching, you can find examples https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_combat_victories_of_United_States_military_aircraft_since_the_Vietnam_War February 4, 1991 - A McDonnell Douglas F-15E Strike Eagle (Serial Number : 89-0487) shot down a Mil Mi-24 helicopter when it dropped its bomb load of GBU-10 precision guided bombs. The F-15E was piloted by Captain Richard Bennett and Captain Dan Bakke.[28] February 6, 1991 - A Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II (Serial Number : 77-0205) shot down a Mil Mi-8 helicopter using its GAU-8/A Avenger rotary cannon. The A-10 was piloted by Captain Robert Swain.[29] February 6, 1991 - A Grumman F-14 Tomcat (Bureau Number : 162603) shot down a Mil Mi-8 helicopter using an AIM-9 Sidewinder missile. The pilots of the aircraft were Commander Ron McElraft and Lieutenant Stuart Broce.[30] February 7, 1991 - A McDonnell Douglas F-15C Eagle (Serial Number : 80-003) shot down a Mil Mi-24 helicopter using an AIM-7 Sparrow missile. The pilot was Major Randy "May Day" May.[34] February 11, 1991 - A McDonnell Douglas F-15C Eagle (Serial Number : 79-048) shot down a Mil Mi-8 helicopter using an AIM-7 Sparrow missile. The pilot is Captain Mark McKenzie and he shares the kill with Steve "Gunga" Dingee". He is credited with .5 kills.[36] February 11, 1991 - A McDonnell Douglas F-15C Eagle (Serial Number : 80-012) shot down a Mil Mi-8 helicopter using an AIM-7 Sparrow missile. The pilot is Captain Steve "Gunga" Dingee and he shares the kill with Mark McKenzie. He is credit with .5 kills.[37] February 15, 1991 - A Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II (Serial Number : 81-0964) shot down a Mil Mi-8 helicopter using its GAU-8/A Avenger rotary cannon. The A-10 was piloted by Captain Todd Sheehy.[38] being that the AIM-7 is a radar missile, picking up a helicopter via radar is proven.

Chinese characters in launcher when English selected
silverdevil replied to VampireNZ's topic in General Bugs
to add to what @sleighzy posted, the log you shared shows where your Saved Games folder is; c:/users/jwbos/saved games/dcs rename dcs to dcs.bak. PS. i saw that @BIGNEWY posted in another topic that talks about the chinese characters -
hello there are several instances documented of fixed wing aircraft shooting down rotor aircraft. and some rotor aircraft shooting down fixed wing aircraft. one example is and f-15e dropping a GBU-12 on an MI-8 in iraq. now that does not really answer the theme of this post. i do have a mission that i made where i am able to track helos in the f-16 radar.

hello. "child failed to connect... timeout period expired" this means your connection to update server failed. have you edited your HOST file? C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc also check that you DNS is resolving api.digitalcombatsimulator.com by checking in NSLOOKUP. also restart home network equipment and retry.

hello. your DCS.log is small but that is because you are not getting by the launcher. it does show you are opening DCS with a shortcut for BIN-MT. though this folder is essentially the same, you should try to open from the BIN folder. 2025-07-27 21:30:46.969 INFO APP (Main): Command line: "D:\DCS\DCS World OpenBeta\bin-mt\DCS.exe" --force_enable_VR --force_OpenXR another thing you can do is rename or make a backup of the options.lua, restart DCS. a new one will be created. also make sure you have the recent visual c++ 14.44.35211 installed. it came with last DCS update.
-
hello. check to see if there is an update to the external program. DCS cannot be responsible for something they did not create. there are lots of other users having issues over the years with simapp pro. check this post too.

PROTOCOL ERROR / STREAM ERROR / CONNECTION FAILED
silverdevil replied to Pribs86's topic in Game Crash
hello. this issue has been around for a long time. it does not seem to be completely solved. some people have send said the error went away after a complete reload of their computers. which i feel is like getting rid of ants with an a-bomb. but it indicates the issue originates at the client computer. have you tried to connect to the servers with IP instead of picking from the menu a name? also check your DNS and IPv6 on the client computer.- 1 reply

there may be a corrupted options.lua in saved games. you could rename the one you have and restart the sim. odd issue.
-
there was a C++ update that requires a restart. did you restart after the update?

bonjour. désolé. je n'ai pas vu le message. je n'ai pas été tagué. je vais consulter votre journal pour voir si je peux vous aider. j'utilise Google Translate.

hello. a new version of visual c++ was installed in support of the sim. you can uninstall the update and the sim will likely not work. "Visual C++ 14.44.35211 refers to a specific version of the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable package, which is required to run applications built with certain versions of Visual Studio. This package includes runtime components of Visual C++ libraries, such as the C Runtime (CRT), Standard C++, MFC, C++ AMP, and OpenMP libraries. The "14" in the version number indicates it's related to Visual Studio 2015-2022."

Model Viewer 2 Not Loading - Built-In OR Stand-Alone
silverdevil replied to Saxman's topic in Game Crash
is there a reason you are running from this location? the EXE that comes with the game is located in folder INSTALL_FOLDER\DCS World OpenBeta\bin run it from there. the DLLs required are also there. -
roger. no problem. good luck.
