  1. Yes, I just released a video on all the sensor mode specs if you are interested. Zone select switch on top left panel, but for IRST it already slews the entire azimuth in center, so left/right only makes it scan that half of the original scan zone. I can get F-14/15 from 15-30 km, F-18 less, F-16 no more then 18 km or so. In Mil power atleast.
  2. I’m not saying it’s a good thing. I’m saying that MiG-29 is chock full of inexplicable design decisions and things that don’t make sense. Apparently an RWR that didn’t work well with radar atleast a lot of the time? Same RWR only shows a notch within WVR ranges? An IRST vertical scan that only goes 16 degrees up when it could have gone 30 degrees up despite being the fastest scanning mode? Coop mode forces MPRF/pursuit mode for some reason locking IRST out from picking up any HPRF/head on mode lock? Oh, it’s fine that you don’t have enough down elevator to counter the pitch up at low altitude and heavy payload at high speed. Yeah, let’s make LEF only have two positions so you have a stark transition between up and down? Yeah, let’s use a complex bifurcated louvered intake that reduces fuel space instead of the intake grids Sukhoi was using at the same time? Yeah. Let’s make them put radar to EKV/dummy to use COOP only in IRST modes, even though the system is already fully capable of turning radar on and off in ILLUM. Yeah, let’s have the radar scan a 50 x 11 degree area when range finding instead of just the target location. Even though it already only return range when looking at target. We used InSb sensitive IRST crystals in MiG-23, lets use worse PbSe crystals for the IRST this time! You know what, let’s put some of the symbology including the entire right HUD border only on the HDD! And we won’t have it show target location within 8 km like MiG-23! It won’t show target location at all unless in gun mode! Let’s basically do nothing but digitize MiG-23 HUD why add anything new! No target speed or altitude even though the plane knows it! Yeah autopilot could fly plane under Lazur guidance for MiG-23, let’s remove it for MiG-29! Well even use smaller flares then MiG-23! Make HUD show IFF in coop when radar is leading? Nope, only in Radar mode! it is so full of “they could’ve easily made that so much better!” And “why the hell did they do that?” And “Jesus why did they make it this way?” Design decisions, that it not being to lock a target in gun mode hardly passes as a blip on my common sense radar so to speak. Im sure they were like “a smart pilot will enable coop so both sensors lock, and it will stay locked” and went about their day.
  3. Great video, glad someone put Gvad’s claims to the test!
  4. I’m not sure this is incorrect. Combat employment says nothing. You can always use coop with rest in dummy do if one sensor loses lock the other will pick it up
  5. Fulcrum and Flanker really shows how scared NATO was. Something that allows you to move a heavy object with less force and something that attacks your weak sides? Oh yeah I would love it too
  6. Was this online? There’s been an online issue of this
  7. They will be forced down when you blow them up!
  8. They did is because westerns would get confused by 9.12A
  9. An axis that steps through the knob positions?
  10. Modified for navigation
  11. Yes it has stick pusher. Force only increases 17 kg when hit limit it’s not always 26 degrees, could be 15 if LEF are up. At different speeds it may lift stick forward for two degrees of elevator, or 15 (from Mach 0.45-0.72)
  12. The circle interception cue is nice for BVR though, as it shows you where to put your nose so your missile has the shortest and most straight path to the target giving it the highest energy
  13. One of 24 things they improved the HUD with in Su-27
  14. Look at it this way, if you set the curve in DCS, the in game stick position and FFB stick position won’t match. Let’s say I fly a helicopter with force trim. I trim left, but becuase I set up a curve in DCS, it thinks after trimming the stick should be closer to center, so my FFB moves away from the spot I trimmed which it shouldn’t do. If you set it up in independent software for the stick it should be fine
  15. It only knows to light up target at 90/50 when the 50/90 antenna is lit ( from the side so needs high signal strength) AND when the rear antenna of that side is lit up by the same signal ( rear antennas also weak.) So, signal only at 50/90 antenna? Only 50 light lights up. Signal only at rear antenna? Only rear light lights up. Same signal hitting both 50/90 antenna and rear antenna on that side? Then light up both 50 and 90 degree lights.
  16. It seems perfect for me at low G But if target is turning at high G, I find I need to shoot just ahead Don’t know if it’s intended or not
  17. I think we need reverse psychology for that by now
  18. Guess ED modeled it optimistically!
  19. 1. IRST scan 2. Lock target, radar will range out to 35-40 km, but display scale maxes at 25 km. And of course, there is radar more it self. Lately been trying to lock in radar so I get iff, then switch to IRST mode so it switches to IRST then I can set radar switch to dummy
  20. MiG-29 fuel tanks CL empty: 75% of max Wing tanks: 50% of max, 75% not counting CL Tank 3: 20/25% for same 550 kg: 12/15%
  21. All that’s really left is Campaign if single missions aren’t them Add engine and emergency controls, ARU switch, range wheel, etc Add “advanced” IFF Finish implementing coop mode continue to refine radar Finally add Lazur GCI datalink
  22. You can still go 200 km on 550 kg if careful and follow the most efficient speeds I outline in my video. It is roughly 12-15% fuel remaining after all
